It's not about accuracy it's about getting the point across. If you tried to make the hand gesture "call me" you're not putting your hand flat to your ear. If you're trying to make the hand gesture "taking a photo" you're not going to cup your hands and push your thumb forward. Obviously dialing a phone number or lowering a car window are both rare, It's more about getting the point across not accuracy
