What good is research when people don’t listen.
It’s been proven repeatedly that spaying and neutering dogs- particularly before age 4- is putting them at a higher risk for every kind of cancer, and yet people continue to even demand the gov makes “spay and neuter” mandatory.
Present the research to the average rescue or shelter and they will lose their minds telling you that “it’s irresponsible not to spay and neuter” and mention everything BUT canine health.

The cancer industry makes $billions$ a year. Why would they let us have a cure. Think about that.
People have gotten arrested and made to be "crazy" when they tell you there's other ways outside of the pharmacy. My dad and my friend had cancer and were finally scared enough to try what the book "A World Without Cancer" claims about Vitamin B-17. After eating a ton of fruit seeds daily, both of their cancers were gone by their 1 month follow up at the doctor.

Check the recent studies on Ivermectin as a possible cure for some cancers, it is so exciting to see, and if it does cure some cancers imagine how cheap the drugs will be, because I think Ivermectin is about 20 cents per tablet! Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to stop big pharma from screwing us all but the most wealthy who can afford anything. :)

I had two dogs recently pass from cancer (first one in late 2021 and second one few months later in early 2022). I miss them daily. I do hope that we find a cure from cancer. But, at least, both of my Pupsters got to live full lives. They were senior dogs, so it did hurt to lose them. But, they (at least) lived their life expectancies (and a little more), so I am very happy about that. But, I got lucky that they got the cancer later in life, and first one had a cancer surgery to remove tumors 3 years back. But, it returned on her, and it was too numerous to fight it the second time.

I have had 3 dogs throughout my life that developed cancer, all different breeds and all different types of cancers.. all resulting in being fatal. The only commonality is as they started to get into their elder years, that's when the cancer showed up and got very aggressive. Still feel so blessed to have had them in my life for as long as I did, but we all want as long as possible with our loved ones. Maybe, just maybe in our lifetimes we will see cancer slowly but surely become a thing of the past. Infinite gratitude to these researchers and scientists. 💗

There are so many people who don't realize the pain their dog is experiencing. Just because you dog doesn't say in words, "Help me! I hurt! I look fine, but I'm in excruciating pain!" Watch their eyes, ears, gums, and their body language. They speak volumes, but we must listen with ALL of our senses to hear their language.

What a great episode. I lost a dog, Dashshund, to Breast Cancer in 1982. This new development in clinical trials is amazing. I love the fact that human and dogs share a lot of the same DNA. This means in Evolution there must have been a master species on which all life comes from
Cancer is genetic in my family. Both sides. My Great Aunt on my Mom's side died of Breast Cancer. My Mom survived 20 years past her diagnosis. My sister died from Breast Cancer in February 2015. I was diagnosed in 2013. Had a Lumpectomy and Radiation. Took Chemo pills for five years. My ONCOLOGIST told me I was cured.
The fact you can use Cancer in dogs, and do the same in humans just amazes me.
I so glad the little girl Cancer is in Remission.

That species is usually referred to as LUCA (the Last Universal Common Ancestor). It would be the common ancestor of bacteria and archaea, and has been pretty extensively reconstructed based on the most ancestral genes present between those two groups. LUCA probably lived 4+ billion years ago in hydrothermal vents.
The last common ancestor of dogs and humans would have been a basal placental mammal (or more specifically the earliest members of the group Boreoautheria), who probably lived 90-107 million years ago.

I have a lot of faith in immunotherapy, but like chemo and radiation it is a very intrusive heavy duty series of treatments. I am now even more excited to see the dogs and people being treated with Ivermectin for cancer, a drug with a much lower danger to both, and almost no side effects. The studies going on give us all room to believe that it can cure many types of cancer, although not all. Perhaps as they adjust dosages that might improve. WE all need to keep a close eye on that though, because it may end up saving our own lives or that of our children and dogs. :)

Amazing how in genetics some things are more simple than we imagine. One gene is responsible for pointy ears, for example. So why are some dogs much more intelligent than others? Is it only environment, or is it partially genetic? And, if so, what are the genes responsible for this difference? I'm sure there are many, but they can't be too hard to identify.

1:30 We are very similar, it's not cancer but just as bad. Almost two years ago my retired Service Dog Mimi was deduced to have 1:40 degenerative myelopathy or DM a motor neuron disease affecting the spinal cord. The symptoms result from the degeneration of the spinal cord's white matter, at the start it presents with progressive hind limb weakness ending in complete paralysis.
DM is the canine version of ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis aka Lou Gehrig’s disease, it's what Stephen Hawking had.
If passed through familial lines, both dogs and humans have the same gene mutation implicated in both diseases, both ALS and DM are motor neuron diseases which attack the spinal cord, effecting voluntary muscle use. We have very little time left.
I also had a boxer with brain cancer, Dharma was amazing.

This is a great program. Thanks again 60 Minutes.
IMHO, triggering the immune system will be standard of care if the system isn't stuck on stupid, insisting on doing what barely helps.

Cats also can have a form of covid.
We share a lot, if only more research was done to help pets and animals close to humans that feed us and/or love us...

Sad to just decide not to have any and to say goodbye to any dogs. Because you give a new dog chances to have a good life. And, you honor your prior loved ones with giving opportunities to the new ones. And, the Hurt gets a little less with new Puppsters in your life.

If you don’t cure the cancer aka remove it, it’s going to take over your body and then you will die probably very quickly depending on the cancer and how fast it spreads. If you are able to get rid of it, you’ll live longer and hope it doesn’t return.
