Interesting info through tge whoke series. I always want to play realistically with the right equipment for the area, so this is really helpful. Thank you.
Excellent series! Thank you for bringing the swathing & pickup headers into the game. We used a Massey 775 to swath wheat then a pickup header on a 15 series IH combine to harvest the grain & then baled the straw for bedding for the dairy cows & young stock. I'm looking forward to playing on this map!!
This, actually is pretty similar to how things were done on the farm I grew up on irl (Western Australia), and in the surrounding areas. That being using the harrows, herbicide, air seeders, etc. basically everything but the swathing. We did kind of swath oats for hay, and tbh that’s a feature I’ve been waiting on for ages! Really looking forward to playing the map bcbhuler, looks awesome!
It always suprises me how much farming methods differ even in the same province. Here in the SW corner any sort of tillage is basiclly unheard of now days. Tipical rotation is Durrum (amber wheat), lentils, mustard or canola, and mabey barley. Only mixed guys like me even grow Oats anymore.
Thank you very much for this series! I am looking forward to farming on this map. One question I have: Will the pickup headers for the combines be available with the map or where do you download them? I am already enjoying your swather, as I put it to use on Elk Mountain. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
With lime not being commonly used in your area, is that because the soils have enough calcium in them or is it a cost thing as far as sourcing and freighting it to farm. I’m just curious as with so much nitrogen being used, I’m surprised that the calcium is not being dragged out of the soil. Here in the area of Australia I’m in, we battle lower PH in the soil and for the life of me it’s a battle to get farmers to apply lime, they love chucking nitrogen at everything. The guys that I work with and take on board the advice given are kicking goals in crop yields and crop health. Thanks for putting together such an informative collection of videos on this map, love your work!
@@BcbuhlerFarms that’s quite interesting that you hadn’t heard of lime until playing farm sim. For us PH value has traditionally been the trigger for lime applications and the old timers think that low PH calls for a tonne of lime/ calcium carbonate applied per acre regardless of how much is required. I use PH as a guide to being something out of balance in the soil. I look at Calcium to Magnesium ratios and base saturations on soil tests first and apply lime accordingly. I guess PH is like a universal language everyone can kind of understand, it’s a bit like protein and energy per kg of dry matter in feed. I find the AgPhd show in the US interesting and often hear of guys having PH up around 8 in parts of the US whereas there is plenty of grassland in our parts as low as 4 on the PH scale, hence its production is poor and usually only sustain a dry sheep equivalent of 3 sheep per acre. Our better cropping country is usually around 5.5PH still low I know, and yet there’s plenty of guys out there growing Alfalfa in these soils and seemingly are stoked at the mediocre yield they are getting. I target 6.5ph for the alfalfa I grow.
I think the typical rotation follows cereals->oilseeds->pulse/legumes but I'm sure there are other variations too depending on which crop from each crop type
Really good video!
Definitely can't wait to play on this map. Appreciate all the work you put into your mods and hope you keep up the amazing work.
love the real life pictures looks like an amazing farm setup :D
Love this series! Love the information, keep them coming!

As a farmer from Europe it is very interesting to see the differences in how you work the land.
Lots of good info! Will probably have to come back to it after the map is released!
Good stuff!! 👍

Great videos, really helps with the map. And local practices.
I liked your video series, a really great way to introduce a map it’s features and the inspiration and ideas behind it all! Very cool!
Thank you for the tutorial! You guys did a really amazing job!

Looking forward to the map
cant wait for this map being a sask boy
Our farm is in Saskatchewan so once the map is out I plan to build our farm and with as much equipment as I can get

They will be released on the in-game economy Modhub at the same time as the map.

Generally I don't think PH value is usually an issue here. I'd never heard of lime prior to playing the game.

What did you edit that harrow to function as? Cultivator, disc harrow, subsoiler, ect?
Light cultivator
Hey hey bcbuhler
When do you suppose this will be released?. Just really excited 😊
Once it passes testing
At the cow farm can u get rid of the fence by the cow barn?
I haven't tried to but I think it can be done
Just curious if you had some examples of real life crop rotations for Saskatchewan?
I think the typical rotation follows cereals->oilseeds->pulse/legumes but I'm sure there are other variations too depending on which crop from each crop type
@@BcbuhlerFarms Thanks I appreciate it!
Have you thought about making 40 ft air seeder or something around that size for older and smaller tractors in the game?
I have thought about it. It's on my list but there's a fair bit in front of it.
what area in Saskatchewan is your family's farm?
I'm actually from next door in Manitoba. But the farming is pretty similar.
Also in Manitoba, explains why yours and South Sask Map is perfect lol
will the swathing header be on console never heard anything about it just wondering?
for combines
cant wait for it anyways
Yes it will be. But it will only work on certain maps.
hello how far is it from release really cool map
We're working on the testing process on the Modhub
@@BcbuhlerFarms ok thx
Where can I get this map?
It will be on the in-game Modhub when it is released
you should bring a degelman harrow into the game
It'll be either Elmer's or Bourgault likely
If I’m not mistaken I believe custom modding teased a degelman harrow awhile back
U should make more
I've covered the topics I wanted to. I will be doing a playthrough of the map in the future.
@@BcbuhlerFarms sounds great I love ur content
Fantastic series. Thanks very much for creating and sharing. One piece of friendly advice: Please turn up the volume some on your sound recordings ❤
My mic is all at full volume. I'm looking at upgrading my mic right away.
