I worked I.T. as a remote agent after moving across the state. I had no intention of continuing my employment with the company, but the person that took my position “unalived” himself after a few weeks.
Working at home was miserable, I hated not being able to leave my home office, I felt like a prisoner, although I did get a ton of Mario played. I lasted only as long as it took to hire someone to replace me. Six long months.
Now I work only a few blocks away in a small town. I am perfectly OK with this!

That’s a sad story Jon. These days it feels a bit more flexible, but I think it depends on the company you work for. Like I mentioned, most people I know just grab their laptop and work wherever as long as the internet connection is strong.
I’m 1 year and a month into remote work. So far so good over here 👍🏾

@@careerstrats this was 15 years ago as well.
Covid changed the structure of things. I’m sure nowadays it’s a lot better than it used to be.

Human connection part is bullshit, i fucking hate the meaningless small talk at the office. Honestly all of your cons would not be an issue for me, working from home will ALWAYS be more preferable to going to work to just look busy 80% of the time

It definitely depends on personality too I feel. We’ve got some who would prefer to not have the interactions and then some who are bored out of their mind from how lonely it can be.

@@careerstrats here's my issue with 'work', I can do my job in 4 hrs or less. But I have to be at my job from 8-5 (the 9-5 is dead because greedy capitalist pigs), I drive 2hrs roundtrip per day just to get to this bitch then 1 hr of gym then chores. By the time this is all done I got like 2 hours till bedtime and I'm too tired to fucking enjoy anything. WHAT KIND OF FUCKING LIFE IS THIS, THE JOB DOESNT EVEN PAY THAT GOOD. I got a degree in FUCKING MECHANICAL ENGINEERING to get a job that pays 45k per year... the starting engineer salary is 70k. FUCK LIFE, IM SO FUCKING ANGRY AND TIRED ALL OF THE FUCKING TIME. I WANT OUT GODDAMMIT. Honestly thinking of just becoming homeless

Sorry to hear that. That round trip drive is not great at all. My top sites for job hunting are indeed, ZipRecruiter, and LinkedIn. Hopefully you can find something better.
