God, Secret of Nihm 2 makes me so mad. No, we can't have mention of Timmy's mother's accomplishments. Whoever heard of a WOMAN pulling off an act of heroism- not just a woman, but a mom! No, no, we need a young boy with a shoe-horned in love interest to be our protagonist! We'll never make money if our movie takes RISKS or is UNCONVENTIONAL or HAS A SINGLE ORIGINAL THOUGHT.

This is why I don't want Zootopia to get a sequel. Prequel MAYBE, but no sequel. In fact, there are MANY movies I don't want to have sequels because I know they usually come out with LESS effort than the first product. It's okay to cashgrab by making a sequel, just make sure you put FULL effort into it and that it stays true to the first film's events. Don't just make it as a cashgrab. Make it like you did the first. Maybe even better.
It's strange this usually happens to movies, when they get continued, it turned out to be worst. Especially when it comes to animated movies, the first ones usually turn out to be the best one out of all in the series. It's like if the creators has a habit of "Oh, the first film is a huge success, why can't we just create an attention based on the title alone from the first film, and then not create full effort on execution". It's just wrong, and underwhelmed the fans that way. At-least there's exceptions of this, since there are sequels that are good.
I was hoping that somebody on here liked Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas besides me. The music was very good except for the villain song Don't fall in Love.
@@fairytalefan8900 me too and to give it credit, they actually tried. Now as for Belle's Magical World.... that was just shit. Yeah I do have soft pots for some of the Land Before time sequels. Preferably 2-4.
You might think your living under a rock, but its a rock worth living under. I didn't know BATB had two DTV midquels until I saw them listed on Wikipedia two years ago.
Most of these movies don't seem to understand the original film and why it worked. Case in point... 10: Out of all the sequels on this list this one hurt the most... until I realized that by reconning the first movie, it retcons itself too, so I can consider it non canon. And yes, Eric Idle does help redeem the experience. But why is he Martin? 9: So what are your thoughts on the original? 8: At least Final Fantasy was good for the most part. Most Land Before Time movies are pretty forgettable. But the one thing they have in common is that XIII is definately the worst. Even Final Fantasy VIII couldn't convince me otherwise. ZING! 7: Also, Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning and Lion King 1 1/2 are decent. Does Kingdom Hearts 2 count as well? Probably not. 6: I was worried these wouldn't get mentioned for a second. 5: I have to admit, the worst part for me was the lack of Tim Curry. Best character in the original for sure.
I liked Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 it was a bad movie but it was full of puns so a bad movie with just funs is like that "it's so bad it's funny" kinda way
The first 'Little Cars' film is sort of similar. The film is much worse than Cloudy 2, but the car puns it uses are so bad and so frequently that you can't help but derisively laugh at how bad the puns are.
You could make the argument that Cinderella 2 was possibly another cancelled TV show with 3 ready-made episodes, and no connection to them. But since they did Cinderella 3, they had parts which tie in with the 2nd one.
every land before time sequel is bad. the original 1988 Don Bluth classic is the only good one, I'm not saying that because it's the first one because it was amazing, adventurous, funny, emotional, and classic.
I'll admit it there are some movies that did great with sequels but there are some movies that didn't need a sequel at all and actually sometimes sequels can ruin a movie you like and sometimes there are sequels that are good that make the original movie awesome
15:16-15:23 Glad to see Animat feels the same way me and a good number of others do about defending Bambi 2.One of the few Disney direct to dvd sequels that actually has care and effort put not only into its animation but characterization/storytelling for a film that could've easily been made for a quick cash in.I've seen a behind the scenes of that crew who worked on Bambi 2 and they have nothing but my respect for approaching this film carefully while paying tribute towards a Disney classic.
I always wondered what was Animat's opinion in Bambi 2. I'm glad he likes it. I still love Bambi 2 (in my home country it was released in theaters and ever since then I've loved it), and I've also watched the "behind-the-scenes", they're entertaining!
Thats actually in the works as of now, as is a Swan Princess SPY movie. If you're wondering, I always hated the Swan Princess series. Even the OG 2d animated films.
... _Wait._ Wait just a gosh darn minute. I just realized something... The Swan Princess Christmas is a musical...where everyone's Christmas spirit (except the main character's) is sucked away by a plot device and the whole town is turned into Jerkville... *_AND_* it was released in 2012... That movie essentially has the exact same plot as It's a SpongeBob Christmas, which was released the exact same year! Only...y'know, Swan Princess Christmas barely had any effort put into it and is quite stupid, though it takes itself super seriously...
Now it's 13% (Almost the same rating as God of Egypt), Wow I can't believe a movie from a franchise like Ice Age can be worst than any other bad animated movies like Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return and Strange Magic.
101 dalmatians 2 is a good film, similar animation, an even MORE sicotic cruella deville, some very good jokes, quite abit of charm, and can be considered on par with the original in many ways
101 Dalmatians 2 is ok. It felt more like a TV special though. It's weird because there's 2 different Dalmatian movies, both with sequels. There's the 1960 cartoon and the 1996 live action remake and then there's the sequels to both. Except the cartoon sequel came out later... Here's to making more crappy live action remakes and sequels. I wonder if Lion King 2019 is successful if they will milk it by making a live action Simba's Pride.
Sabrina Tolentino Ah yes, Vinny the Italian demolition man, yeah one of my personal favorite Disney characters. My favorite line is, "We all did thing we're not proud of. Plundering the tombs, stealing from the dead, double parking. But hey, at least nobody got hurt. Well, nobody we knew!"
Atlantis “2” is still a guilty pleasure for me and the ideas had some potential. The first one is way better by far, make no mistake, but I liked it. It mostly comes down to how it explored elements of mythologies and lore I don’t often see in animation and I still liked the performances, but as much as I like it, I do know it’s not the best by any stretch of the term.
Personally, I wouldn't call Lilo & Stitch 2 bad.... mostly because Stitch the Movie and Leroy & Stitch are far worse. Look, I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, but the thing about L&S 2 is that it actually *tried* to be like the original film. It's characters were more like the original, the tone was similar to the first, it's themes were similar AND it had an emotionally charged climax that was very well done. The biggest problem I think this film has is that it has three plots, and the movie is only 60 minutes long. The two I mentioned ARE more like what you pointed . Stitch the Movie has all of the characters dumbed down, particularly Pleakley and Gantu, plot points and jokes that just don't work and just felt like it was cashing in on the movie. Leroy & Stitch is a bit better, but it still has problems with plot points (Stitch being made a captain doesn't make the least bit of sense, no matter what development he went through), has sidelined characters like Nani and David or ones that are completely wasted. Leroy in particular is so badly realized that it doesn't seem like he has any other purpose other than to be a mook army of evil Stitch's. It has a lot of contrivances to make its plot work and it doesn't feel like a satisfying conclusion to the franchise. Now, again, I'm not saying your opinion is invalid, I just am confused by how you can say that Lilo & Stitch 2 is a bad sequel when there are two sequels that are far worse than it. It doesn't matter if they're more like spinoff movies, they are still billed as sequels to the original. And because you listed it together and didn't give an actual reason for why the movie is bad, it just feels more like a cop out instead of "I don't want to beat a dead horse".
I belive the Disney sequels bare a reason people got a bad eye on 2D animated movies. I mean the studio that made them made Ducktales the movie. A excellent animated and told story. Not for a cinema sadly but as a still good and well looking DVD or tv movie. If they had keept on that and made plenty of original movies or movies based on the Disney afternoon shoes. Atleast we whould have gotten some epic small movies. Imagine if Tale Spin or Rescue Rangers each got there movies like Ducktales.
I love how he just piles on a a ton of Disney sequels to #7, even if one of them (Lilo and Stitch 2; Stitch has a glitch) avoided the seal of garbage, they all as a group suck
15:27: I don't think The Rescuers Down Under and Fantasia 2000 count since they're both considered part of the main animated lineup rather than the Disney sequel lineup. Not to mention Down Under was made long before any of the other Disney sequels.
Hey Animation Trainer I am gonna film my part of our collabration tommorow. We will do it on all the Pixar Films. To me that sounds like fun. Also I have a question for you in my part of our collabrations. When you film your part. Please Answer it.
I'm going to say this right now. I love the Land Before Time. It was my childhood. I adore it, but the Wisdom of Friends is so bad that I forgot about it. My sister has all the VHS tapes and DVDs.
On the part about the Atlantis 2 and Beauty and the beast 3 I would like to add the 3rd Tarzan film. The animation was the same quality and came from the TV show, I remember watching the episodes that they used.
My opinion 10: over season 4: scared silly 9: the swan Princess Christmas 8: the secret of nimh 2: timmy to the rescue 7: Shrek 4d 6: hoodwinked too! 5: tentacolino
Sorry, What I meant to say that it's really surprising. Because usually AniMat uses Kirby or Smash Bros. music in these Top 10 videos. Just surprising that's all!
Ya know to be fair with the alatantis the lost empire tv series (and the movie) the concept could have worked, introducing different legends and myths to kids. Which is why I found it to be a guilty pleasure of mine due to my interest in that sort of thing. But I can agree that stepping back it is objectivly bad.
I'm surprised that The nine lives of fritz the Cat , All dogs go to heaven 2, An American tail 4, A fox's tale or any of the Alpha and Omega sequels didn't make it on the list.
Actually, I wrote to AniMat before back in April, asking what his thoughts on ADGTH2 (and AAT: Fievel Goes West) were, but AniMat just simply answered that he was yet to see ADGTH2 (even though he didn't explain his thoughts on it and said that he also saw the first movie) and talked about Fievel Goes West more. Don't get me wrong, I liked both ADGTH films.

Saying Odette looked like Barbie in that Swan Princess sequel is dead accurate. Seriously, when the clips of it first started before you said what it actually was, I thought it was one of those shitty CGI Barbie movies.
Ferngully (The first one) scared the shit out of me as a kid. I don't remember most of the movie, except that there was this creature made of tar that had the most intimidating singing voice I had ever heard.
Same here. That one and Jungle Book 2 and Peter Pan 2 were all pretty good. Weirdly enough though, I really don't like Lion King 2 which gets a lot of praise, to me it just makes Simba look like an asshole and a not very good king.
Emberblaze the Lyric Cat The designs were a bit odd. IDK why they made Simba's colors darker? If they were trying to show he was older, there are better ways to do it.
I liked the Peter Pan sequel, it's kinda depressing at first, but I actually really like that, then it becomes heart warming near the end. I watch movies for character emotions, not necessarily plot, so I liked it.

Whaaaat? seriously? 13 sequels?
sorry meant to say 14
Yeah, Marzgirl did a review on Channel Awesome, she said it wasn't that bad, the 13th one is the worst in her opinion as well.
14 was most likely just universal wanting to cash in on the Dion craze again after Jurassic world became a huge hit
But Incredibles 2...
@@coreylineberry8557 that comment was posted before incredibles 2
Prequels aren't neccesarily any better
But Toy Story 2 and 3.
I would call the Atlantis and beauty and the beast sequels "dropped pilots"
That sounds pretty accurate.
Best sequel... Rescuers down under
I hate the rescuers
Personally I think it has a bad story, crappy animation, bad voice acting and just overall terrible
DAT THUMBNAIL, LOOKS LIKE A DERPY LITTLE FOOT IS ABOUT TO TAKE A BITE OUT OF A DERPY BELLE

if Mulan 2 isn't on this list...
REALLY!?!?
+sMash Gamer2221 it's like watching Ni hao kai lan
Whoa! I forgot about that one! Mulan 2 definitely deserved to be on this list. Mushu ruined that movie with his stupid jealousy.
Riley McLellan its awful altogether
+Harrypie07 True that. I completely agree. I was just saying Mushu was the worst part. But the movie was beyond redemption either way.
If Mrs Brisby had seen the sequel coming, she would've let Timmy die
I no the sequel is probably not good. But that's way too harsh.
@@terryrex7419 that's the joke
I have soft spots for Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas, Balto 2, and some of the Land Before Time sequels.
We can at least agree belles magical world is the worst thing ever
Enchanted christmas was my shit growing up
I loved Balto 2 and the enchanted xmas ^^
I didn't even know that Hunchback of Notre Dame even had a sequel until a couple years ago. Just.......why?
We got to have MONEY.
No Treasure Planet bombed pretty horribly. Such a tragic movie...
***** I wonder how it and Atlantis would've done if they aired in modern age ?
To make money and shoehorn a love interest for the main character
You might think your living under a rock, but its a rock worth living under. I didn't know BATB had two DTV midquels until I saw them listed on Wikipedia two years ago.
But I liked Return to Neverland and Lilo and Stitch 2

"The Final Fantasy of animated movies"

Knowing AniMat, I'm calling it now that Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 is on here. I'm guessing it's at least in the top 3.
You are right. ;)
i liked it though
I liked Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 it was a bad movie but it was full of puns so a bad movie with just funs is like that "it's so bad it's funny" kinda way
The first 'Little Cars' film is sort of similar. The film is much worse than Cloudy 2, but the car puns it uses are so bad and so frequently that you can't help but derisively laugh at how bad the puns are.
how did you predict that? Do you have future vision?
Lilo and Stitch 2 is still better than the Stitch anime.
EVERYTHING is better then that travesty.
Wait. That exists?
Fucking DEARS is better than the Stitch anime. And that's really staying something.
is a good anime you nigga
what. where the fuck can I watch it, I wanna see it
You could make the argument that Cinderella 2 was possibly another cancelled TV show with 3 ready-made episodes, and no connection to them. But since they did Cinderella 3, they had parts which tie in with the 2nd one.
So, Disney did fanfiction about its own material before fanfiction was a (big) thing? -- curious...
That laugh after that creature screamed "MY BABYYYY!" was the best.
every land before time sequel is bad. the original 1988 Don Bluth classic is the only good one, I'm not saying that because it's the first one because it was amazing, adventurous, funny, emotional, and classic.
I'll admit it there are some movies that did great with sequels but there are some movies that didn't need a sequel at all and actually sometimes sequels can ruin a movie you like and sometimes there are sequels that are good that make the original movie awesome

Glad to see Animat feels the same way me and a good number of others do about defending Bambi 2.One of the few Disney direct to dvd sequels that actually has care and effort put not only into its animation but characterization/storytelling for a film that could've easily been made for a quick cash in.I've seen a behind the scenes of that crew who worked on Bambi 2 and they have nothing but my respect for approaching this film carefully while paying tribute towards a Disney classic.
I always wondered what was Animat's opinion in Bambi 2. I'm glad he likes it. I still love Bambi 2 (in my home country it was released in theaters and ever since then I've loved it), and I've also watched the "behind-the-scenes", they're entertaining!
Just looking at the animation of Swan Princess Christmas makes me want to die
A swan princess CHRISTMAS MOVIE!? What's next, a swan princess PIRATE movie!?
... D8
YEP
YAY?
Thats actually in the works as of now, as is a Swan Princess SPY movie.
If you're wondering, I always hated the Swan Princess series. Even the OG 2d animated films.
There's also gonna be a Swan Princess buddy cop movie and a Swan Princess WWE movie.
Nope, it was about anxient warrior squirrels trying to kill Odette and it sucked harder than blackhole in your livingroom.
Did you give them that idea?
And here I thought that the king from the swan princess died in the first movie, which he probably did until the sequel came along.
Hey Animat... Ice Age Collision Course has an 8% on rotten tomatoes (the same rating as Norm of the North)
Good Luck
24 percent now
Now it's 13% (Almost the same rating as God of Egypt), Wow I can't believe a movie from a franchise like Ice Age can be worst than any other bad animated movies like Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return and Strange Magic.
Norm of the north is fucking cringe in disguise
@@SuperKitaroShinX Legends of Oz really is a pile of 💩
101 dalmatians 2 is a good film, similar animation, an even MORE sicotic cruella deville, some very good jokes, quite abit of charm, and can be considered on par with the original in many ways
it also has the spirit of the original
It's also his opinion.
Okay I'm sorry not trying to be a jerk but I know you did not just spell psychotic, "sicotic" 😂
I really thought cruella was better in 2 compared to the original she was more of a fun villain but Glenn close got them beat
Me: Stop making everything live action movies!
Disney: No!
Me: Can you at least *apologize* for ruining childhood movies?

Am I the only one who thinks an Atlantis: the Lost Empire series could've had loads of potential?
Yes if it hadn't been canceled. It could have been great.
I love Atlantis and the series 😃😃😃.... I thought it was very interesting.
seeing that Greg Weisman was supposed to be a staff writer, yes. I agree with ya.
i like the guy with black hair he is the best disney character evah! "BOOM! No more Chinese Laundry" -i forgot his name tho
Sabrina Tolentino
Ah yes, Vinny the Italian demolition man, yeah one of my personal favorite Disney characters. My favorite line is, "We all did thing we're not proud of. Plundering the tombs, stealing from the dead, double parking. But hey, at least nobody got hurt. Well, nobody we knew!"
Actually, Swan Princess 2 isn't direct to video. It received a very limited theatrical release.
As soon as he started talking about 13 I thought to myself: Only one series of animation from my childhood hit at least 11.... so it must be....TLBT.

when you showed mrs brisby watching the sequel and letting timmy die I just pictured her dropping the house back into the swamp and going nope.
The fact alone that you included Return to Neverland amongst the bad Disney sequels makes me question if you’ve even seen it.
The villains of Ferngully went from an awesome dark spirit to lame humans. I'm not really a fan of human villains to be honest.
The dolphin looked like rare reedling colourwise
I belive the Disney sequels bare a reason people got a bad eye on 2D animated movies. I mean the studio that made them made Ducktales the movie. A excellent animated and told story. Not for a cinema sadly but as a still good and well looking DVD or tv movie. If they had keept on that and made plenty of original movies or movies based on the Disney afternoon shoes. Atleast we whould have gotten some epic small movies. Imagine if Tale Spin or Rescue Rangers each got there movies like Ducktales.
Oh I don't doubt the Disney DTV sequels had a hand in the death of hand drawn animation, which makes them somehow even more loathsome.
I bet the Mighty Ducks cartoon could be excellent movie material
I love how he just piles on a a ton of Disney sequels to #7, even if one of them (Lilo and Stitch 2; Stitch has a glitch) avoided the seal of garbage, they all as a group suck
15:27: I don't think The Rescuers Down Under and Fantasia 2000 count since they're both considered part of the main animated lineup rather than the Disney sequel lineup. Not to mention Down Under was made long before any of the other Disney sequels.

On the part about the Atlantis 2 and Beauty and the beast 3 I would like to add the 3rd Tarzan film. The animation was the same quality and came from the TV show, I remember watching the episodes that they used.

+BoMah:) Yes and it was a piece of crap, in my opinion.
