- This video is a “how to” remove the rear light cluster from a Toyota AYGO and replace the blown bulb refit and test. This car is getting on a bit and we do have a couple of issues along the way but nothing that we can’t figure out.

I love that you keep in your bloopers, because if it happened to you it'll happen to the rest of us...
Keep up the good work !!!
So true, I don’t mind making a mistake, it’s how we learn thanks again for your comments 👍🏻👍🏻
HI, just in case i cant get a rear fog light bulb locally do you know what type it is so i can order one from e bay if my garage let me down after saying they would book it in for a brake disc check as my Mot is due next month and i might end up having to do it myself thanks.
Done the change. Would never have found that nut without your video. Thank you.
Glad it helped, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Before removing the rubber clips and to avoid braking them, I'd recommend heating the clips with a hot/warm hairdryer first, the hot air relaxes the plastic, making it easier to remove without braking them.
Good tip! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Really helpful clip and thanks for pointing out the need or not of the brittle clips that’s broke. Cheers
Glad it helped Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I can’t believe how stupid this car is.
This video was a huge help, very clear instructions on how to do it. Perfect 👍🏼
Glad it helped, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I just commented something similar. This is a showcase of how to turn the "complicometer" into full speed...
Toyota guys were having a bad day when they designed this! The Peugeot/Citroen version is so simple, safe and more effective. Same problem solved in two totally different ways.
What is really sarcastic is that Toyota as the "reputation" and we see it on the comments. LOL 😂
Just changed mine thanks to this video, perfectly done mate. Thank you so much pal 🙏
Glad it helped, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great Video, thanks, exact same thing happened to me with the clips. Gone are the good old days when you just pulled the bulb holder out from the back!
So true! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
just changed the bulb today, i did laugh at first thinking" bloody hell he's not gentle when removing the panels etc.." but hey neither was eye. really easy to do after watching this. :)
😂😂 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for putting this video up. It really helped a non practical person like me to replace the bulb. I broke a couple of the clips as well! Ooops
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
if you do have the original clips where a cable tie was used here, they look like a small circle inside a larger circle. Press the small inner circle in a few millimetres with a small screwdriver or pen cap then pull out the outer body of the clip. Before reinserting the clip, you then push the centre until in protrudes *out* a few mm then install the clip and press the centre back in flush. If you don't do this, they are very easy to force and break.
I don’t have the original clip, it had been cable tied as for ages, might get a original clip to use instead, thanks for your comments and thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻
I have the part number somewhere - bought a pair for my C1 from a Toyota dealership. Should be around £1 each.
All we had to do, was follow the damn train, CJ!!!!!
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks very much for this worked for me and when 2 of my clips broke, I did not panic
Thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I was looking and I thought wtf. This video explains it, thx
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Very helpful, got an MOT due soon and need to get the reverse light replaced before then.
You made it look easy :)
Thanks!
Glad it helped, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Not that it matters but reverse lights aren't part of the MOT. Still worth fixing though ☺️
@@aaanton11 hi mate need your help i got a toyota aygo 2006 I've had the clutch replaced and now the reverse light is not working have tried changing the fuse and new bulbs still no luck until I come across online reverse switch/sensor what goes onto the gear box apparently but cannot seem to find it if possible could you do a video on how to locate or change it would be appreciated. Thanks
It should be a legal requirement that a car bulb is designed to be changed in 5 minutes maximum.
Had Toyota put a thumbscrew on that bolt it would seriously speed things up.
Worst has to be front lights of Renault Modus though... look it up and have a laugh :)
Thanks for your video!!!
😂Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Nice video Anton. Keep up the good work. You produce good vids.
Glad you like them! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 No worries. I followed it to replace a bulb on the Wife's Aygo today today. You're spot on, they could of made it easier to fit 🙂. Good little cars though. Its only the rust underneath that's letting it down - 57 plate.
Hello. I am given this car, Toyota Aygo and got rid of my old Citroen Berlingo. I desperately need an advice. I just noticed water in the boot, when it rains and I have no idea how to fix. I watched number of videos and understood that toyotas known for bad seal and water leakage. I watched your video on how to change the back light and managed to take the back light lid off to see if water is leaking in through the lights and saw some water. In your video, when you took the lid, they is some dust which shows that it's not well sealed. My question is ha e you had a problem of leakage in your boot and how can I seal the lights to stop the leak. I also checked the top light on the outside above the boot door, even that was leaking in water. How can I deal with it..? Thank you
Thanks for the great comments, I use silicone sealant 👍🏻👍🏻
The fault is the same as the Peugeot 107 video I have made 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for this, very helpful. How do you stop these units from leaking water into the car?
I have a video on sealing the rear lights, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I bought rear parking bulbs only to find out that the aygo has parking bulbs on one side only, the other is a fog light. Such fun.
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thank you for the videos you are doing, I was wondering are all 3 bulbs the same?

Hi mate, love your vids, really helped me when fitting power windows and remote locking to the wifes C1, one long term problem with this C1 is the wing mirror adjustment, the lever just doesnt do anything, I can easily remove the unit but is there anything I can do to get the adjuster lever working, Thanks again.
Not a job I have come across on the C1, but on other cars the adjusters run on small cables, and if there's water ingress the can corrode slightly, if you remove the mirror glass and soak the cables and mech in wd40 it might come back to life Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 Thanks mate, I will let you know how I get on,and thanks for the quick reply.
Thank you. Subscribed .
Thanks for the sub! & Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks 😀

You may never touch the new bulb with your fingers, because the skin grease will let the the bulb fail. Always wear clean gloves. And you don't need to break off the clips...just heat them a little. Use a little vaseline for the rubbers before mounting them., so there wil be less moisture in side the light unit. You don"t know anything about that? You will never touch my Aygo! Rouwdouwer in Dutch...
You can touch normal bulbs, its halogen ones you need gloves, Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I've ordered myself some new sets of rear light units and it transpires they don't come with bolts/nuts. I don't suppose you know the thread/thickness of the standard ones so I can order some?
can you swap them with the old ones? Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 unfortunately not part of the reason I'm swapping them is they are held in with silicone and sheer hope.
My husband keeps telling me that I need to press on gas when I start the car cos he thinks it's like an old cars? Is that true I disagreed I don't think I need to do that? What do u think? Please reply 🙏 my car is toyota aygo 2008
always start no accelerator pedal, if the car doesn't start then press all the way to the floor and keep cranking, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks so much for the help! Bit of a faff eh
Glad it helped, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Why my aygo break lights on when head lights are turned on, it stays on all the time while head lights on, then when I press breaks it goes brighter
its a 2 filament bulb, so it all sounds ok, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
That was easy ! 😎

Gosh! Toyota really fu_k up on this one! The remaining triplets, read Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1, really teach what decent design is all about. It's so much simpler on those two! Let alone the fact it looks better, safer and more functional, giving a broader access to the boot!
Tips, valid for any vehicle, use a heat gun or preferably an air drier to warm up the plastic tabs. So they don't break. Particularly in cold weather plastic becomes very brittle.
Always clean the rubber seal(s) and the mating surface. The judicious application of silicone spray is a precious help to preserve the rubber and plastic components. Keeping it supple and making for a better seal over time.
On these triplets DO NO TOUCH the boot rubber seal. There's a small amount of sealing compound inside the grove on these rubber seals. By pulling it out, you render it ineffective. Creating future water ingress points, for what these cars are already famous...
Either the sealing compound or the entire rubber seal will need replacing! A lot of expense and work, on the long run, for what is basically a bad procedure for a bulb replacement! ;-)
Cheers
