I've replaced a couple coils on those cheaper blowers...but anymore I usually tell people it's not worth the price of the coil & my labor. I did one for a coworker once & then next season the carb went bad. I replaced it with a $20 Chinese carb & he ended up spending more money than if he'd bought a new one. Great vid!
Uni Sol thanks. I follow a set of steps in my method that I usually don't show in my videos. Although I have been thinking of showing all the steps in future videos.
I told myself not to buy the new 25cc Craftsman leaf blower and 2 years later here I am, Damn! Oh and my new Craftsman pressurewasher that I used one time is also broken after 1 year , it only starts with starting fluid then dies. I have an Echo edger and weed eater 22+ years old (replaced the fuellines once) no issues. All garage kept. No more crapsman its not worth fixing and 1 to 2 years later fixing it again! Thanks for the video and showing me that I don't care enough to care lol.
Great video. I have a similar problem, but I am getting spark and it won't even putt-putt with starting fluid. I KNOW BAD BAD! I did find out compression is bad. Probably due to the Starting Fluid. Lesson Learned!
Before spinning the shaft to test for spark. Make sure the flywheel is locked down tight by using an extra spacer to reach the lock down nut. Otherwise the key can easily strip on the flywheel. A stripped key can also be the cause of no spark.
There a test on the bench using an ohm meter that could prove it is good or failed as well. There are specs on the resistances of that coil that can be obtained and compared. A problem with the kill switch wiring could mean no spark such that replacing the coil wouldn't fix it.
May be just me, but I am finding out on my own leaf blowers made today are junk.Vs say a older Craftsman which I have and ran for many years no issue. In the past 6 months I have aquired 7 blowers. Most of these off pallet buys.Where still new in the box and returned due to dent, scuff etc.Polan, Craftsman.I find issue 1.These are hard to start.2.Bog down if throttle wide open fast.3.Stalls out when sitting.4.A big one, they get red hot fast and some bog and die.All 7 newish coils I doubt would just go out.7 newish carbs junk, I doubt.I still yet to figuar out why these things new out box have big issues.Just glad I did not pay $100 at a store for one.I just collect them at low fee to tinker with.About to toss them all and buy a Sthil. Newest addition is a new Craftsman.New as in, new.Does run, has the issue of idle to full throttle fast and just bog down.Throttle up slow and fine.Carb ajust?
Joesph Baumgardner thanks for the comment. If you have Idle to wide open throttle issues then it's a carb issue. Either the diaphragm is somewhat stiff or more than likely it needs an adjustment. Carb adjustments can be really tricky. Are you an audiophile? It's like adjusting a 2 band equalizer.
As to that Craftsman new blower... I suspected a ajust after looking inside carb.I see it was a double D ajust style.Got that and after some fine tune for sweet spot, runs fine now.Yes, I'm a audiophile.I also work on audio equipment/electronics.Matter of fact, last week brought a spectrum Kenwood eq to add to my collection.Like ajusting that, yes.
Ahh so. Just picked up this exact model out of the trash. Will give it a try for a repair soon. No spark though portends an expensive repair. PIty. I have an ancient Craftsman blower that doesn't even a trigger. Just a turn knob for the speed. 25 years old and still going.
I've got the same one it starts on full choke and runs but when go to half or run it just cuts all power like it's got getting enough fuel but I've pretty much replaced the whole fuel system. I'm at a lost
@@HomeGaragechannel at the beginning it started fine, but it began to have carburetor issues, and to top that we became quarantined and I was unable to buy the replacement parts to repair it
Never buy this products from lowes , i have brand new one , i cant even use it , it wont run at all , lowes dont accept exchange or return , home depot or walmart is better store to buy a power tools.
Very well done and great simple narration! It helped me take apart similar blower, clean, repair and it started right up!
Excellent work and thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Looks like this is exactly the same machine as my Poulan Pro BVM200FE. Thanks for showing how to disassemble it, that was a big help.
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it

Thanks and you are absolutely right about buying a new blower. Sometimes you have to know when to say when.
The grounding was a good try, you by now figured out the problem. Thanks fer showin us !!!.
Thank you vetterfellow for the comment. Yes I just replaced the coil.
As always, systematic and simple description of the problem

Dignostic and disasmbly is the first step, the rest usally we know to do it or check other videos
Thanks very much. No messing around, just to the point.

I see. Get a hold of a compression tester and hopefully it's not below 50 psi.
Just saw another video where the tech said 100 psi is preferable on these engines. Above 90 is good.

good video. ive got two junkers. both have no spark...havent went into them yet
Thank you fat cat clark for the comment . If you decide to go through them I wish you luck.
Great service

Absolutely great educational video for us 👍

affboy 1973 thanks for the comment and good luck on the repair. I like the older units myself too.
great job! what a major P.I.T.A!
you got that right, thank you Gregory Pierce Sr.
I have that blower it works very good
Its not a bad blower. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Informative video but I can't seem to find part 2!

Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it
That usually happens when you leave your equipment outside. That is why it is very important to keep them inside when finished
Very true! Some people just don't care I guess.
Straight out the box and Will not star brand new.

Does that mean you've replaced the carb too. If so then you may need to turn out the adjustment screws to deliver more fuel.
Good jobs 👏👏👏
thank you Azael Estefania
another great video!!!
Thanks I appreciate it very mcuh.
Nice video, where I can get another coil ? Thanks advanced
Either buy a parts blower for 20 or order it from ereplacmentparts online. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
sometimes the actual ignition coil itself looses magnetism naturally which is a bit of a pain in the arse when fixing reaalllllllyyy old stuff haha
Also it's a good idea to check the spark plug get a new one, did exactly the same on my pocket bike saved me 25 bucks for a new coil!
That was a good catch by you would rather change a plug any day compared to replacing the coil. Thanks for the comment.
why not check a brand new plug?
Sure why not.
Quick question, do you sell all these machines after you fix them? Or your a engine mechanic?
No they are not mine. I have a lot of friends and family that have me look at them from time to time.
Are you a auto tech?
No I'm not. Just a car guy.
thanks for the informative videos, i like how you carefully explained things. Nice Snap-On driver
@@anthonyz7023 thank you for the comment I appreciate it.
i thought that when you press the kill switch it disconected the wire
In this case the kill switch completes the circuit that grounds the ignition coil and stops the blower.
Yes I realise that now after doing some investigation and my coil is knackered
@@jrgal27 okay. Hope you can get it fixed.
Won’t start gas slightly dripping out choke hole on my Makita
sure, the carb needs to be replaced otherwise you'll need to take the carb off to service it.
Get rid of the junk Champion spark plug for starters!
Absolutely.
This is insane
Got it on black, same problem:no start
More information please

I Can’t!! 🤷🏾♀️

The reason I won't start is because of abuse from you. You kept me outside in the cold. All I wanted was Hot Chocolate.
Thanks for the comment.
Good reason not to buy one . Seeing more that look new for sale saying won't start.
have to agree with you on that one
