@@daniellu2006 And Frank Boles is in this game?! This game is actually the first true appearance of that scumbag Officer Frank Boles all along?!?! You've got to be kidding me. I knew that milky white eye looked familiar. And Dick Grayson a.k.a. Robin/Nightwing was once one of the Rat King's followers?! OK, I did not see that coming either.
@@jefferykelseyMe neither, this game actually fooled me, one of the best games of 2024, this game has so many characters from Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum and Arkham City like Boles, Branden, and others, I thought this was a different Arkham Universe but it was the same one after Arkham Origins, this game blew my mind, If this game was PS4, I’d buy it in a heart beat, I love Batman Arkham Games, greatest games and channel ever!
One of the more under appreciated aspects of this game is that they not only do their best to stay within the continuity of the previous titles, but they also work to fill some of the plot holes introduced in later titles. For example, an audio recording in this game explains that joker likes to pretend each encounter with Harleen is his first, which explains why the Arkham asylum interview tape seems like their first meeting
I love how they're not only attentive to continuity, but aware of incongruencies pointed out by fans & try reconcile them. It's an extra detail that shows their passion for the series. I think they show more care for canon than the devs of the big flat-screen games.
Can we just appreciate the hand gestures, on top of already canon-like movement and fighting? Adds that extra bit of character to the whole playthrough, makes Batman feel that tad bit more human.
10:27:47. This move by Irving "Matches" Malone in "Arkham Shadow" explains how Bruce Wayne broke his restraints while fighting off Penguin's thugs at the beginning of "Arkham City".
Same. As well shining light on other straight-up unutilized villains in the games like Ratcatcher & The Ventriloquist/Scarface (Woody). I agree, I'd love if this is the direction future sequels take & that they have the same writing crew & director in Ryan Peyton.
@@Riggs-m4e Agreed. Character driven with emphasis on continuity, Batman's allies, & the other villains of his gallery that have just as much capacity for depth & intensity as Joker.
Man, the writers and VA actress have done an AMAZING job at really making you feel for Harleen. You see her fighting and wanting the best for her patients
After finishing your playthrough, Arkham Shadow sits pretty comfortably as my favorite story in the series. It's everything I've yearned for in an Arkham campaign; a more character-driven narrative with pathos, focus on Bruce's allies, Matches Malone spotlight on underused or unutilized villains, & ultimately a follow-up to Origins. I adored how they depicted Harvey's past & relationship with Bruce & it instantly made their last interaction in Knight heavier & more tragic for me. He might just be my favorite written antagonist in an Arkham game for that. Whether the next Origins era sequel is a flat screen game & made by WB Montreal/Rocksteady or Camouflaj, I hope this team of writers & Ryan Peyton as direction return because they killed it with this direction of the seires imo.
Two Face deserves so much more attention and I love that this game gave him a worthy portrayal,. Imo, he works better as an arch-enemy to Batman than Joker does.
@@Riggs-m4e Same. And I'd love to see Two Face, Scarecrow, or Hugo Strange (who's his first recurring villain) used more as the main nemesis in future media, now with the sentiment of Joker-fatigue. I prefer Joker as a side villain in a story who makes an impression & leaves people wanting more.
@@themadtitan7603 I hope they find a way to bring Hugo Strange back in the next game, assuming they're making more prequels. He was so underutilized in Arkham City. They could also have Thomas Elliot make an appearance before he became Hush, showing the breakdown of his relationship with Bruce. I'd also like to see the next game be an adaptation of the Long Halloween. Having the main villain not be one of the traditional rogues but just a regular serial killer would be interesting. Maybe have the Holiday killer turn out to be James Gordon Jr to make it a more personal story for the Gordon family.
Yea this game was great, for a VR game two face fit perfectly as the main villain and to see his origin story in this series version was done very well and feels better for a VR game
That was hands down the best ending to an Arkham game since Arkham city. Perhaps even better. The way they adapted that origin genuinely left me shocked. I should have seen it but didn’t. I’m glad they really hit the tragedy of Harvey Dent
@@Alilou279 They drop so many hint it's what tip me off. During one of his Conversations. He mention to have done some Jobs for Falcone in the Past, which was very Big Hint for a Guy name Joe. Joe Chill in some Variation was a Gunman for Falcone. let alone the fact that He has a Fading Tatoo on the Upper Chest that look quite frankly very Unmistaken from Joe Chill's Model from the Arkham Knight Intro. The Third and final hint was the in the Group Therapy, He react more than other people in the room when Matches open up. This is the only time in the whole game he lost his Chill. Oracle try to bring up how uncanny this one working at BlackGate while Batman needed some info on the 2 Dr. Right after the Third Hint seal it for me.
Hardly the exact same. Arkham Knight was obviously Jason Todd. The game screamed at you that he was Jason Todd. Anyone with the slightest hint of who Jason Todd is immediately would've realised, and a lot of people who had never heard of Jason Todd probably still would have guessed before the actual reveal because the game kept talking about him. Sure, this game also keeps talking about Harvey, but it keeps talking about a lot of characters, and the Rat King truly could be anyone or even no one until it is actually revealed, and then it makes sense. There's also the huge difference in the marketing to consider. One big part of the reason why the Arkham Knight's identity flopped so hard is that in the lead up to the release Rocksteady kept vehemently insisting that he was an entirely original character, despite the fact the game can't even be said to try and hide that he's just a renamed Red Hood. All I heard from the folks behind Arkham Shadow about the Rat King's identity was a joke that he's not Jason Todd (as well as the clarification that they didn't just rename the Ratcatcher Rat King).
@@fartsofdoom6491also helps that rat catcher is a different character that actually appears in the game and blatantly tells ya that hes not the rat king
@@danielfr8433 Did you reply to the wrong comment or are you seriously suggesting I have no life because I know a thing or two about an extremely popular gaming franchise?
I definitely saw Harvey Dent being the Rat King as a parallel to the Animated Series Episode 22 Judgement Day where he creates a 3rd personality to fight for Justice.
It's also a pretty big nod to "All-Star Batman: My Own Worst Enemy" by Scott Snyder & Romita JR. Especially the moments when they're kids together, their conversations, Harvey promising to kill Joe Chill for Bruce... ... and then it cuts to the present days, and there's a cool twist with Harvey's personalities. Good story, All-Star Batman was one of the best Rebirth Batman titles, but because the name of the title was so close to the infamous "All-Star Batman & Robin" by Frank Miller, lots of people didn't give it a chance.
@@scaryscarecrow5478 quit your whining. its not like it would have been a flatscreen game in the first place. meta themselves pitched the idea of the game to wb. wb weren't planning on an arkham game at all. so it would have been this game in vr or it wouldnt exist at all
I honestly believe they’ll make one last game in the Origins time, so then they’ll have the original trilogy of games (Asylum, City, Knight), and the prequel trilogy of games (Origins, Shadows).
And then they could make three Batman Beyond games & have a sequel trilogy for an epic 9 part saga across Gotham's timeline like Star Wars. And I think they could make two more post Origins games if they wanted a flat-screen set of games featuring the introduction of Dick Grayson's Robin, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, & Barbara as Batgirl + stories like the Court of Owls & his first interaction with other villains.
Yes, and if not we already have Batman Assault On Arkham as after Batman Arkham Shadow storyline. Making Origins, Shadow,Assualt, Asylum, City And Knight as The only cannon story lines In Batman Arkham Series. The rest are just an alternate universe fun. Even though The Batman Arkham VR is damn good, it's short and a dream or nightmare sequence. I always wanted a com plays experience After playing that and I am so glad Batman Arkham Shadow given that complete experience.
Gonna make a master comment for anything interesting I see. SPOILERS IN CASE YOU DON'T WANNA GET SPOILED. 1:11 The band Ashes on Sunday is apparently a band that featured Dinah Drake, who would later join a band called Black Canary. Walker, the Ricardo lookalike inmate that's always positive in Blackgate (and is best character) mentions them and a specific song at 9:39:40. As for the performers listed on the My Alibi poster, nothing relevant came up 1:39 Not sure of the symbolism of Crime and Punishment being in the toilet. 1:58 The author of this piece is Deb Donovan, who is "a Gotham City journalist and one of Bruce Wayne's new neighbors." Only other thing I saw is she's apparently an alcoholic. 2:45 Red Claw Vodka is obviously a reference to the BTAS villain the Red Claw. Although this raises the question of if they are using alcoholic beverages as a front to fuel their activities.....the use of "Lab Rat" and "No. 1 Truth Serum" do not help. I can't find any actual motive for Red Claw btw. Meanwhile, Sweet Justice Ice Cream actually seems to be a reference to DC Super Hero Girls 2:53 Crocky Crunchies seems in a bit of poor taste considering Killer Croc.... 4:17 Marks is the guy who interrogated Ricky LeBlanc about his disruptor I believe. 6:21 Hutch is most likely a reference to Officer Hutch, the hostage Hatter takes in the Wonderland side mission from Season of Infamy (also known as Sergeant Lory. Fun fact : He's referred to as Lory in dialogue and the missing poster, but the subtitles reference him as Hutch. Considering Wonderland was originally called Welcome to the Tea Party I think, and originally had 5 Hostages, I think this might be a leftover from that.). I did also find a Malcolm Hutch who is a Bludhaven firefighter who took up the Nightwing mantle when he went missing at one point (Colleen Edwards from this arc is also referenced later), but he's black. As for Pettit, he's a reference to a character from No Man's Land called Sergeant William Pettit, a zealous hardline cop opposed to Gordon's methods of handling crime that eventually led a splinter group. He's the same cop that almost guns down a surrendering Rat in retaliation for them killing Marks i believe, and he's one of the main cops on the Rat King's Ark. There's also a villain named Sullivan Petit working for a Charlotte le Serf..... 7:01 Alexandra Brackett is an established reporter in the dc universe. At one point she was put under police detail after her partner was murdered for their report on criminal gangs using drugs to gain metahuman powers, by a group called the Lords of the Avenue. 7:42 Foley I believe is Clarence Foley, another character from No Man's Land who was in Pettit's faction. 12:30 Interesting thing to note : That Gray Ghost poster features both Paige Monroe (Calendar Girl) and Mary Dahl (Baby Doll), when I'm pretty sure they weren't credited to this film before I'm the Arkham Knight poster. Paige Monroe is also featured on a poster for My Alibi sold in the Commissary. Considering Calendar Man is on the loose, hopefully she doesn't snap around this time... 14:25 I feel like they didn't really address the similarities between Anarky and the Rat King's movement. Ironically they actually have Lonnie Machin call into Vic Sage's radio show and he says that The Rat King is a false flag from the rich (lmao) 29:57 May I just say that this collectible is so weird. Like, what's the purpose of flashbacks to Origins? Hell a lot of them are revoiced. It's so weird..... 30:39 The poster is for Pirates of Penzance, which is actually a real "Comic Opera". Although sadly he didn't get close to the poster so no details can be seen. Same can be said for the poster for Other Fish to Fry. 30:44 The poster on the right is a film called The Black Glove, which is a villainous organization that was actually mentioned in the Red Hood dlc by saying Red Hood killed Simon Hurt, their leader. And also Jezebel Plaza is apparently named after Jezebel Jet, who was a member of the Black Glove. It's very odd seeing a movie themed around a real villain group.....though it could be like Panessa Studios "true life" movies based on Gotham Criminals, like The Island of Doctor Dorian (this is coming from conversation heard in the diner scene in Arkham Knight, that also mentions Paul Sloane as an actor who snapped and became a serial killer.) Also of note are the names on the poster, seen more clearly at 1:13:55, are Mangrove Bierce and proclaiming it a John Mayhew film. John Mayhew is a member of the Black Hand, while Mangrove Bierce is actually an alias of Simon Hurt. Maybe this is some secret propaganda film? Meanwhile on the left is The Inferno, the film that was suddenly brought up in Arkham Knight as being part of Firefly's origin story out of nowhere. Apparently he was a FX artist at Panessa studios, and when The Inferno (where he apparently got the design for his suit. I heard some speculation that it may be a reference to Enfer, the villain of Batman: Inferno. That would line up with the Panessa "true life" films) bombed, he got laid off and then killed the boss Tomesso Panessa with a nitroglycerin cigar trick. Considering Firefly already appeared in Origins, this is either some form of rerelease of this film (possibly to capitalize on Firefly's crimes at the bridge), or a really weird continuity error. 35:07 Riley is (presumably) the father of Payton Riley, the second Ventriloquist. In the comics they're like, Irish mobsters. His pub's also in Origins 37:46 Solomon Grundy's poster. Since he was encountered in Arkham Origins Blackgate, maybe this is a result of that? 46:44 Zatanna on a poster 54:13 The poster board seems to be implying Batgirl, including the one newspaper referencing Killer Moth's attack (as well as his name change from Drury to Drew Walker). The picture at 54:29 looks different though..... The glowing eyes are off..... Also, Walker's name comes up again on the fights listed at 6:16:09 (although that could just be that other Walker that looks like Ricardo.....). 54:20 Miranda Row is the mother of Harper Row, who I swear was referenced in games before (I think City, maybe?) but I can't find them. 56:44 There's a poster for a Berretti's Pizza, which I think is referencing Tony Angelo Berretti, a henchman for Lew Moxon. First appeared in Knight. 59:40 Dr. Yats' Wonder Tonic appears to be an oblique reference to Jack Ryder's status as The Creeper (who was mentioned in an audio tape in Arkham City as being active, despite the games never acknowledging it otherwise.) I looked up Yats and DC comics and came up with Vincent Yatz, a character apparently tied with the Creeper, being the guy that gave him his powers after defecting from the Soviet union. There's also Sodam Yat, but that's a green lantern. 1:01:34 Notice how the Beacon Hotel's first e flickers, so it says Bacon The whole exchange at 1:03:29-1:04:13 is hilarious 1:07:09 I'm pretty sure all of these names aside from Boone Carver's are references to comic book artists. 1A, where the squatters are, is Bill Finger, for example. Although 3c might me related to Lucius Fox. And Cameron reminded me of Cameron Chase, the head of the Department of Extranormal Operations. 1:08:25 Not entirely sure who this is. Looks like Steel (You know the guy played by Shaq) mixed with MF Doom. Could be Peacekeeper? Possibly related to Order of St. Dumas 1:08:30 This looks like a hybrid of a Grand Wizard and a Ghost 1:09:02 Early appearance by one of the Blackgate guards, CO Waring 1:10:26 She would come to regret this decision 1:11:32 The author here is Olivia Ortega, an old journalist from DC Canon. 1:11:40 Armand Lydecker is cited here as CEO of Praeda Pharmaceuticals, but he's more well known for being the Vulture of the Terrible Trio. Gunther Hardwick, the Shark, was mentioned in Arkham Knight with Hardwick's Tours. It also says he raised prices for medications for a MacGregor's disease ; This is the disease Alfred and Nora Fries has in Batman and Robin 1:13:52 Okay, so the names on the Terror poster are also new. Millicent Mayne is The Face of Gotham, who was present in Batman Cataclysm and had empath powers. Interestingly, she repressed these powers for years until her left side of her face was scarred by acid......just like Harvey Dent. Peter Hand it turns out is the famous actor brother to William Hand, aka the Green Lantern villain Black Hand. Rebecca Carstairs, meanwhile, is Witchfire, a famous musician and witch. 1:18:32 So, this is a bit confusing. Has batman actually encountered Otis before the events here, or is this an oversight? 1:25:12 Hugo Strange's self help seminars are still active... 1:47:50 Wonder how the guards reacted to a swarm of rats coming in around Malone..... 1:48:30 OFFICER BALLS?!?! At 1:49:42 you can see a batman like figure in the rafters up top right. Who is that? Pretty sure the second batman in gcpd is Barb, but they did have that glowing eye photo....and this guy disappears in a cloud of smoke around 1:49:54..... it's way too early to be the Shadow Batman we see later.....hell we haven't even seen crane yet. Who IS that? 1:51:31 In the apartment you see a O'Niell......maybe a misspelling??? 1:53:05 I feel like that "Hell" block joke would get a citation 1:53:30 Bullard is somewhere else in the game, can't recall where 1:55:47 In the comics, Yamashiro is the brother in law of Katana, however, (SPOILERS) Knowing the twist of Yamashiro actually being Chris Nakano, this throws the existence of Katana into question. Chris Nakano is actually against vigilantes like Batman in the comics, interestingly enough, even becoming mayor to get rid of them. Perhaps his story is similar here? 1:56:16 I'm fairly certain "The Haven" is a reference to Blüdhaven..... 1:59:02 I like to think Wesker carved that Born to Die on the wall
Part 2 2:00:03 Chucky Berks is one of the casefile murderers in Origins. He actually has a weird subplot where he needs a conman and Robert Hanes is perfect, but he's like in the cell block above him. It's kinda funny 2:01:06 What's the symbolism of The Count of Monte Cristo being used here? 2:01:18 Another Zatanna poster. Her top hat was found in My Alibi, same place you could see Otis's gear in Origins. Maybe he's a fan? 2:03:46 First appearance of Andrew Carter, the Bane flunkie. I'm guessing his accent was just a fake. 2:04:41 And here's Robert Hanes, the conman who threw his mark off a roof.....pretty sure he wasn't black in Origins though 2:05:42 Principles of Large Facility Ventilation was previously used by Joker in Arkham Origins Blackgate 2:06:37 That is NOT a real name 2:08:18 "Looting, vandalism reported in the Bowery! Rat masks sell out at pop-up hat shop. Proprietor wanted." Well, this may be a reach, but I think Jervis Tetch is helping the Rat King along. His hat shop is in the Bowery after all, and considering his skeleton was see through in Origins.....maybe he just likes his rhymes 2:09:21 Looks like Selina's on the loose. 2:09:58 Okay, so Corti is one of Falcone's goons, Bowman is one of the wannabe escapees in the cell blocks, and Meals is the guy that makes prison food. Not sure who Mr. D is. 2:10:13 This article is written by Grace O'Halloran, who I swear I think she was referenced in City. She's a reporter and podcaster in the comics. Potomac Psychiatric Hospital is apparently featured in an issue of New Teen Titans, where Vanessa Van Helsing was committed there. Of course, there's also Calendar Man. 2:17:02 What's that book? 2:18:07 Real talk, I don't get why they implemented this. Some of the stuff you can buy from the commissary I wish they'd let you actually give to the other inmates. Imagine giving that cop's badge back, or Black Mask his mask! 2:21:36 Alright, starting from the beginning : Rita Farr is a famous actress who becomes a member of the Doom Patrol called (and I screw you not) Elasti-Girl. Yep, Pixar ripped DC Comics off. The poster is apparently for a show called Forbidden Congo, you can see it when Joe gifts it to you later. There's the Gray Ghost poster. The Albino Strongman poster is apparently Solomon Grundy ; it previously showed up in a case file for Arkham Origins Blackgate. Of course there's also the Flying Grayson's poster. Then there's Floyd Lawton's homemade target that also appeared in Arkham Origins Blackgate. And finally the My Alibi poster for Paige Monroe. 2:21:57 there's an oil painting I don't recognize, then there's the chicken painting , which is apparently of unknown origin and is beloved by the inmates. You actually see it later in Crane's office I believe. There's Deathstroke's dog tags, John Demarco's badge (again, really wish I could give this to him. What's the point of collecting a dirty cop's badge if not to exchange it for a favor?), a rat talisman (which could have been something you could use to infiltrate the Rat King's forces), and a rosary with an iron of St. Jude, the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes. 2:22:21 Finally, there's a crappy snow globe of Blackgate, Black Mask's Black Mask (REALLY wish we could have returned this to him), Beware The Grey Ghost in The Cloaked Crusader Returns, a set of Joker Teeth, a penguin plushie in a cage, and a rat mask (which again, could have been used to infiltrate the rats). 2:22:52 Maggie Carle is a New York City reporter, and secretly, a VAMPIRE! Part of "The Cult of the Blood Red Moon", an ancient cult of vampires. Overall, a very INTERESTING choice of reference. We already have Deacon Blackfire with his blood obsession (which in and of itself resembles Brother Blood's way of immortality) (by the way, kinda miffed they didn't follow up on the Blackfire reference from origins with his home for the poor. He literally takes the homeless into his cult, this could have serious ramifications on the rats.) so having a vampire is rather concerning. 2:25:31 And here's DeMarco! See, imagine if you gave him his badge back, he'd help with info against TYGER! It'd be genius! 2:26:03 And here's Ferris Boyle! 2:27:18 I seem to recall the Crime Alley shooter being an Ian Chase, but this guy really doesn't act like that guy 2:28:10 Ah, here's CO Waring from the Apartments 2:29:07 I'm guessing Bird dropped the accent from going native. 2:43:02 So his full name is Irving Dennis Malone..... 2:43:34 Okay I seriously do not like this. 2:44:00 Okay I can make out the TITLE of the blue book (The Psychology of Heroes and Villains) but I can't make out the author. And I can't make anything out for the red book 2:46:11 Another article from Maggie Carle.....is she trying to sow discontent? 2:46:20 Lunkhead? 2:47:38 Wait, Nora isn't dead though 2:47:41 Ah, Simon Stagg you greaseball 2:51:09 Wonder what that huge building off from Wayne Tower is 2:51:50 Kinda weird that Wesker just randomly brings that up ..... 2:52:05 The subtle implication that Woody or Scarface is actually possessed is pretty interesting 2:55:58 First voicemail from Vicki Vale 3:01:01 "If you hear conflicting orders, verify with me first." Possibly a hint to Crane's influence? 3:01:10 Belle Reve is also paradoxically a storefront seen in Arkham Knight, along with the Slab, a Metahuman prison in comics. Another interesting thing : On Miagani Island, there are streets called Bolton Street. 3:08:56 The irony of Ryder saying what he hates after saying a hero doesn't define himself by what he hates is astounding 3:10:52 I believe one of the inmates actually references CO Ma the first time you go into the Commissary. 3:13:39 Not sure if Vernon is a reference or not 3:22:43 A NOUGHT ZEE facility in a middle eastern country ......gives me flashbacks to Oskar Dirlewanger 3:23:26 A reference to Vito Porter, the Mortician? 3:33:55 Apparently this was a side mission in Origins Blackgate. Personally I wish they could have let you break into that one. 3:37:44 References the 3 prior rat attacks, as well as one I don't recognize on Big Belly Burger 4:01:37 Again, it references Otis as if we've met him before. 4:03:25 Jon Valor is a reference to a classic Dc character named the Black Pirate. I believe he is referenced later as well 4:04:39 So apparently Otis uses both chemicals and Sonic means of rat hypnosis 4:04:51 Okay hold up. That file references Black Mask (who I think he mentions as having worked for in an audio log as well), and JOKER. Is this insinuating he was involved with the Christmas Eve debacle??? 4:07:28 This definitely shows evidence of Scarface being a real, living being. A tulpa, or a ghost? 4:11:09 Is there any particular reason why Ben Turner is here? 4:17:12 Interesting how Ricky LeBlanc has a Anarky A in his graffiti......possible allegiance to him? 4:20:33 Yeah, "surprises" 4:21:08 Ironic statement coming from the department of Sanitation 4:22:52 I see Alberto is doing better for himself 4:23:25 Now this is a very ominous story..... 4:27:40 AH, here's Jon Valor's other reference! 4:28:06 And here's the Order of St. Dumas 4:28:46 Anthony Wayne is an actual historical figure, believe it or not (I think.) 4:29:13 Carl Draper is actually a villain in the comics, known as the Master Jailer, formerly Deathtrap. He's a genius inventor who designed prisons, but he apparently had an impulse control disorder. 4:30:35 Okay that's just hilarious 4:31:23 Cripes, why are his eyes so red?! 4:32:47 Professor Strange......he really bounced around didn't he? 4:33:12 That guy on the right is actually Andrew Carter, funnily enough. Considering later on during Crane's section, there's a Venom research wing, perhaps Carter dodged a bullet here..... 4:34:08 Notice Joe's reaction to Malone's story 4:39:05 Another Anarky symbol on the left wall..... 4:40:25 Okay those dates seem WAAAY off balance 4:43:24 I stg, this is the best character ever 4:45:27 I swear, Ian Chase sounds nothing like he did in Origins 4:47:03 What even IS in that little box? And Furthermore, why can't you talk your way out of this? Seems a bit forced combat to me 4:49:19 Now this is an interesting tidbit, considering Count Vertigo is actually in Blackgate (he's in Arkham ward). Either A) LeBlanc is just lying and a coward, B) his encounter with Batman was so traumatic he developed Vertigo, or C) Count Vertigo is screwing with him for unknown reasons. Or even a mixture of all 3 4:55:35 His brother is Max Chilton, btw. He apparently tried to get revenge on Batman in the comics and had a hook hand 5:07:03 Again, very nice stuff 5:11:58 Next voicemail from Lucius Fox, mentioning the Applied Sciences division. This would later be eyed by Lex Luthor in Arkham Knight, as part of a larger takeover of Gotham businesses. 5:15:44 The 2 codes are Birdcage and vampire......not sure the significance 5:17:48 Here's the interview with Lonnie Machin. Lonnie mentions Kate Kane, aka batwoman, as one of the rich. Kate would get engaged to a Maggie by the time of Arkham Knight. Also, Note that Martha Wayne's original maiden name was Kane. And The Question mentions Tony Zucco, the creep who offed Grayson's parents, as a possible power grabber. I believe his Gotham illuminati theory is the Court of Owls, as well 5:29:05 Speaking of Shock Gloves, does anyone remember the Wii U version of Arkham City having this electric punch system called B.A.T.? Also, in Origins, originally you were supposed to be able to select the shock gloves. 5:31:43 Kinda sad croc didn't get a cameo 5:34:10 I don't like the implications of the password to death row being viking.....
Part 3 5:36:25 It really seems to imply Ratcatcher was involved with the Christmas riots 5:38:43 Ah, good ole Julian 5:41:37 Well that explains WHY Ratcatcher left his gloves behind (I think)..... 5:41:44 Imagine an au where Harvey Dent was Superman's brother who went to Gotham to become DA 5:52:29 It just hit me, but the hologram version of Flanagan looks like Shrike 6:09:35 "Cats Eye Opal stolen" Catwoman REALLY isn't being subtle. Also I think this is a reference to Batman 66 (As an aside FFS ZOOM IN ON THESE THINGS, I CAN'T READ THE DAMN PAPER) 6:10:24 It seems Bolton was considering or is using Venom. The irony of the back cover featuring a product, Zesty Cola, made in Santa Prisca is not missed 6:09:47/6:10:46 The irony of having Joseph deny Bolton only to congratulate him is also not lost. Little weasel, Bolton's burn back in the library was perfect for you 6:11:35 I love this entire scene with Batman and Bolton, actually top tier interaction 6:51:08 I'm confused as to who this is addressed to. 6:16:09 okay, so we have : Wesker vs Turner (god, that would be a bloodbath), Yamashiro vs Franklin Accardo, a small time racketeers part of the Bludhaven 6, Sims (Harry Sims, aka Mr. Camera. His photography is advertised in Knight. I like to think he's an extortionist, blackmailer, paparazzi, stalker, and all around creep.), an individual called "Lil Punchy" (NO idea what this is referencing), and LeBlanc vs Walker (Most likely Drury or Drew Walker, aka Killer Moth). 6:16:38 Not according to the trailer : Batman was using his shock gloves against Bolton there. 6:16:56 Third voicemail from Harvey 6:19:23 Poor Arnie..... 6:33:35 Riddler said otherwise in Knight 6:38:50 Love that punchline 6:44:39 Batman would be haunted by these words 6:45:23 So Joker's apparently had discussions with Crane, and Frank Boles is a father. I have a feeling the spot of bother Joker helped him out of was the breakout of Blackgate. 6:49:01 Oh god this entire interaction is GOLD 6:56:31 This story is obviously taken from BTAS, But the question remains, is this Riddler??? 6:57:17 Edward Lawton? Like Floyd Lawton? The only Edward Lawton on comics is Floyd's son that got marked by a peedough. According to the games, Deadshot already offed his father, it can't be his brother.....who is it??? 6:57:35 Ah, Warren White rears his shark teeth. This is building up towards his origins 7:04:26 Here's a slightly higher quality peek of that Cheetah calendar from 5:34:33. 7:07:09 Jeebus that painting 7:15:39 Two things : one, dunno who the Sicilian is. Second, it's ironic that there's a rat named Pinkerton, considering the Pinkerton's were union busters I think 7:23:14 This is that subplot with the other guy I mentioned in like the first or second part 7:25:07 And here's the other guy! 7:27:16 Master Kirigi was in the Initiation DLC for Origins 7:29:18 Wilcox MIGHT be a reference to a guard at Belle Reve from Young Justice 7:30:25 There's Forbidden Congo 7:33:50 This is actually a reference to Scarecrow's early appearances I believe. 7:34:19 Hugo Strange again. She says it like Hugo Strange is a big deal..... 7:36:22 Fourth voicemail I believe, with Catwoman. This voicemail references the events of Catwoman: When in Rome, specifically. Louisa Falcone is also the password for Carmine's blackmail file. The Saint Gertrude Diamond seems to be referring to Gertrude the Great 7:37:25 This particular broadcast says some interesting things about Victor Sage. 7:38:42 Here's more Jack Ryder. His speculation about Garfield is particularly pitiful, however he brings up a somewhat interesting point about the Rattenkonig or whatever. It feels like everyone is trying to go somewhere but is tied by the other 7:44:21 Huh.....? The subtitles say Bolton, but that sounds like the Generic guard??? 7:53:44 Marge, I don't get the joke with this painting 7:54:30 This whole section is rather interesting 7:56:41 Why DID Crane set up this elaborate setup? 8:00:07 Werner Vertigo is one of Arkham Ward's patients..... there's also a phone call in game about his rejection from Task Force X. Strikes me as a very unstable individual 8:00:29 Ah, Arnie. 8:00:52 Winslow Schott, the Toyman. In Arkham Origins Blackgate it was implied he passed. But clearly that isn't true due to Schott's toyshop in Knight.....is this a room they didn't clean, or was this a different Toyman? 8:01:00 Considering their interactions in Asylum, this is pretty interesting. Note that Boles is nervous..... 8:02:53 Note the plants comment. Pinkney mentions vines in his final runes, and I think he has a fear gas like reaction. And from what I could gather, the plants were provided by Pamala Isley and Jason Woodrue. I believe the faculty that understands Crane's research is Poison Ivy. Keep in mind that they already made headlines before Origins with a discovery related to Grundy's Swamp, which is canonically tied to Lazarus and Ra's al Ghul. 8:06:34 KNEW IT 8:10:34 I just love how petty Crane is here 8:15:24 How did batman not say anything about this 8:15:38 HOW DID HE NOT SPEAK UP ABOUT THIS 8:15:46 Elizabeth Kübler-Ross was a writer on near death experiences, as well as the 5 stages of grief (which probably hit Harley hard in City). The quote paints a tragic picture of Harley, doing everything she can to help 8:15:58 This is a particularly interesting reference : Jack Dunning is a reporter for the Gotham Gazette in comics, but he's also a serial killer known as the Robin killer. After becoming obsessed with costumes crime fighters and their world and wanting to become a part of it, he found out about a Tailor for heroes and villains, and began a twisted scheme. He bought spare Robin costumes that Joker apparently ordered but never picked up (giving me flashbacks to Jason Todd...) and had teenaged actors wear them and then killed them, then taking pictures of the body and forwarding it to the Gazette. Eventually, he had a third victim that he refused to reveal to anyone but Batman, so he could finally meet a crime fighter and become part of their world. Can you imagine if this was a case after Jason Todd? Imagine, this psycho using spare suits meant for Joker all in order to live his parasocial life out......Batman would be enraged. It would be so awesome! In addition, the store mentioned in the story, Queen of Diamonds Jewelry store, invokes either the Royal Flush Gang, or possibly Marsha, Queen of Diamonds. And while I did hear some speculation about the mysterious bat imposter being Bat Mite, it's most likely Barbara Gordon. Although the part about the bullet going right through him from Payday is contradictory...... Brendan "Big Murphy" Murphy did not turn up anything relevant. 8:16:26 The "society" reference is golden. What's interesting is she crossed that out. Seems she doesn't agree that we live in a society......also, she seems to be thinking of her persona......again, HOW DID BATMAN NOT CATCH THIS 8:16:34 If you scan this letter, Harley narrates it in a much more crass and angry way......not sure of the significance of that..... 8:18:30 Fun fact : In Arkham Asylum, there were 3 cut collectibles : Two Face coins, Killer Croc scales, and Joker Spraycans. 8:19:06 This alone should have prompted Batman into action 8:20:44 I have a feeling that was Hugo Strange 8:21:22 Considering she almost said Harley Quinn in her interview tape with Joker, I think she's trying to put up a facade here. 8:30:11 Charlotte Rivers is a news reporter and ex girlfriend of Bruce Wayne. Anthony Rizzoli, meanwhile, actually apparently leads to a character from Watchmen, called Underboss. He's some sort of mob underworld figure. Not sure if it was intentional, considering the guy mentioned is a child abuser, but just putting it out there 8:30:42 Crane must really appreciate Carl Jung. The second password, Fear Itself, implies Crane believes that the only obstacle is the very concept of fear. He'll see differently soon..... 8:31:05 Kinda wish we could see inside the TYGER database and Quinzel's research..... 8:32:46 Oh, poor Arnie...... 8:33:45 This part is heartbreaking 8:34:49 note the smoke at the end of the hall. If you remember the first elevator ride in medical in Arkham Asylum, this is a tell 8:35:59 Okay, this scene is always different whenever it's depicted in each Arkham game and it drives me crazy. Admittedly it's a bit more dramatic here presumably on purpose (the retelling of 8:39:00 points to that) but STILL, it's kinda annoying 8:40:19 There's a symbol on that book..... 8:43:14 PFFF, HE FALLS LIKE A CARTOON CHARACTER 8:49:00 This is where we see Crane's descent begin. While I'm not exactly sure as to the specifics, Crane's schizo speech about hai fears seems to mimic the most primal fears we have, our most primitive caveman urges. He seems to come to the viewpoint you saw in his interview tapes in Asylum : that your entire life is governed by fear. And in his mind, he seems to come to the idea that in order to survive, one must BECOME fear itself. 8:51:34 This cell is a reference to Aaron Helzinger, known in the comics as Amygdala. His backstory is that his Amygdala was removed in an effort to cure him of his homicidal rage, only to have the opposite effect take place. I distinctly remember comparisons to him and the TITAN inmates of Asylum.....is it possible Crane removed his Amygdala as a sort of test of removing fear? The amygdala regulates various emotions including fear processing, memory, decision making, and emotional responses. We also see a cell marked of Venom....is that related? There are articles by Dr. Young in Joker's cell about steroids being used in psychiatry..... it's possible Crane made a monster
Part 4 8:51:51 It's very odd despite being labeled as Hugo Strange's archives, this is just a tiny room eerily resembling the room that Hugo interrogated his TYGER guard in for the live action Arkham City trailer. Did Strange get rid of his files? 8:52:40 Arnold seems to be in denial 8:53:48 Ah, "Venom Detox". This is presumably where Andrew Carter got "treatment". 9:01:19 ....I never thought about that 9:33:19/9:34:15 Here's the 3rd part of Berks and Hanes 9:35:00 Andrew Carter isn't doing too hot 9:35:30 Love this bit 9:41:23 Now THIS is a twist if I've ever seen it 10:01:58 Horton Spence was a photojournalist working for gothamite news, partnered with Vicki Vale. Interestingly, he was investigating the Street Demonz, who you later encounter in Arkham Knight, while they were selling a narcotic called Fever. This is notable especially because allegedly Ventriloquist at one point was selling Fever synthesized south of the border and smuggled in human cadavers. Anyway, he apparently protected Vicki Vale and they shared a brief romance. Delmore Redhorn, meanwhile, is the corrupt police chief of Blüdhaven who is partners with Roland Desmond, aka Blockbuster. Colleen Edwards is notable for being one of the people that adopted the name Nightwing when he went missing in the comics 10:09:30 No dialogue for Lynn's the second time around? Lame 10:16:17 according to my search, Vanessa Rios is an assistant district attorney who helped Gordon prosecute corrupt gcpd members. 10:18:11 I can only imagine what's racing through johnny Bois head. 10:29:34 So......did Otis die? Because that blatantly contradicts Arkham Asylum's riddle for him 10:30:34 The birth of The Ventriloquist 10:36:27 The birth of The Question 10:38:28 Another reference to Dr. Yats 10:47:19 Wait, I don't think he ever actually goes back to free them 10:51:27 The way this parallels Harvey's dad is heartbreaking. Talk about self fulfilling prophecies 10:54:17 here's another appearance of Isley and Woodrue. "Engineer a plant species that'll scrub the earth clean again" is particularly ominous 10:55:17 So Strange always was secretive and aloof 11:02:13 Looks like Officer Pettit did join Dent. 11:07:06 I could have sworn Pettit was one of the men outside..... 11:13:36 I like this little tidbit 11:18:35 Wait a minute, QUERY?! AS IN QUERY AND ECHO?!?! 11:20:46 Dennis Schmidt-Fob as RIDDLER?!?! YOU HAD WALLY WINGERT RIGHT THERE!!! WHERE EVEN WAS HE!?!?!?
The reusing of locations from Batman Arkham City and Origins really make this feel like the same city in a whole new level of danger in each scenario. I like it. Makes everything feel more connected
I don't know if this has been talked before, but I just thought about this today... Remember when Joker is being apprehended and then introduced to Arkham Asylum, and he says to Batman: "All thanks to you and a book of matches". That would mean of course that he remembers talking to him in Blackgate and now the Asylum. Nobody knew and knows that Batman was also Matches I now think that some of the story and background of Matches Malone was made for that particular moment in the game, and a perfect way to unite both games and trilogies.
In the Arkhamverse the Robins got adopted when they were older (15-16), which I kinda prefer tbh... not a fan of Batman running around with an 8 year old kid.
@@duoduos9221 Well, they can further improve the game by simply making Arkham Asylum and then in a few years they will come up with something else to make arkham city or origins
I like that in the commisary, Matches emidiately goes for The Grey Ghost merchendise...I imagine Bruce being very comforted by them in a lonely place like Blackgate.
Yeah, gotta love how so many of us were initially so disappointed when this game was announced because we thought it was going to be another glorified 1 hour "tech-demo" like Arkham VR, only to be a full-ass game that is longer than Asylum's, City's and Origins' main stories, lol.
6:16:09 isn't Accardo one of Professor Pyg's victims in Arkham Knight? I remember Alfred saying something about him being imprisoned in Blackgate for many years. I don't know if someone already pointed this out but in any case, the developers of Shadow really outdid themselves with these little references to the other games
Yup. He was a member of the Bludhaven Six, a small group of racketeers. There's also Sims, which is presumably Harry Sims or Mr. Camera (who has his own photography business in Knight on billboards. I like to headcanon that he's a blackmailer, paparazzi, extortionist, stalker, and revenge pr0n creator), and Walker, presumably Drury/Drew Walker (Yeah this game has his name spelled as Drew for some reason), aka Killer Moth (although that could just be that other Walker that looks like Ricardo.....)
The story is incredible, Origins has always been my favourite for the story, the vibe and the gorgeous cinematics and they litterally made Origins 2, i really hope they give the team more Projects taking place before Asylum
Bravo! Absolutely magnificent. Admittedly, some of the talking side tracking sequences were a lil long, but this was so well done. Two Face finally got the spotlight he deserves
Who else wants to see a Batman Arkham game that has more of a horror aspect to it like when enemies get so terrified you feel it to like Arkham asylum vibes
Was really hoping you would do a long play through of Shadow! Maybe at some point in the future, you could do a long play through of Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate!
I have to say that I have enjoyed your videos since the beginning. I have always anticipated when the next video will come out as I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I do hope you continue the good work and keep making videos for years to come.
I didn't know Cranston was Gordon at some point, that's hilarious considering Jonathan Banks was also Gordon in Arkham Knight, what's next? Aaron Paul as Gordon??? Anna Gunn as Barbara??? 😂
2:43:27 I find it awesome that the developers used Malone, Batman, and Bruce as 3 different people because they basically are. Just look at the name of Batman when he speaks
I'd like to think that this is physically the strongest version of Arkham Batman. He's shed that bulky old suit from origins, trading out for a sleeker, more speed oriented suit. I think that two years of being all bulky would build his muscles up a ton. And, since he's a lot stronger now, he knocks criminals around really easily. Or the rats are weak 🤷
Even though this game was pretty good it doesn’t feel the same like the Arkham games we got from rocksteady. It makes me happy and sad at the same time when I see this game. God I hope we ever get to play the Arkham games we got from the year 2000s):❤️
Ancient Runes in Blackgate Prison? It seems there's a lot more to Blackgate than meets the eye. And there is a Batcave hidden deep within Blackgate Prison.
Arkham Shadow is the closest thing to Max Payne 1 Since its release. A true return to form of the One night crusade - Noire genre. With the exception of maybe Origins, Arkham Shadow goes back to what its founder did in 2001 with a man on a mission to solve a crime and prevail against evil. - Being faced with the most egregious psychopaths known to man Batman steps up and takes them all down! I honestly haven’t seen another game do it as well as the first Max Payne game until Arkham Shadow
Well I will admit that I really liked this walkthrough of B.A.S. as BAV did great in portraying Batman & Irving "Matches" Malone while being untouchable as always. :D Although, I did watched some other full playthroughs from other vids, but not the whole thing as I didn't want to spoil myself with this game being done by others that made some mistakes during their gameplay, which I know is natural within everybody and I did my best to wait for each part of this game from BAV because I knew he would preform this with sheer perfection. What I found most interesting of B.A.S. was the whole plot that fitted very well for the Arkham series. Especially, the origins of the new & old characters from the previous games, like the Ventriloquist. Though what really puzzled me is who really was the Rat King? At first, I thought it was the Rat Catcher when I watched the trailers, but that was wrong and when I found out who he really was, that left me with some more questions of why this title turned out that way since it doesn't seem to fit with Dent. I know it was indicated during those dream sequences & patient tapes, but it still bothered me until I recalled another meaning for the word "rat". There were negative traits to this word that meant for a "hateful person, liar, double-crosser, betrayer or a snitch." So, maybe this alternate personality that Dent had was gonna be a betrayer to all those who followed him along with Dent's own psyche, but all these criminals took it as the rodent term and haven't figured out that it was all some twisted trap once it was all figured out. Truly something worth viewing in BAV's gameplay and I pray he'll keep on being The Batman to the end as a legend, like Kevin Conroy. Hope BAV makes a funny version of this game like he did in the last VR game that was titled "Batman on Acid" because that was funny. I would even like to see him "YEET" one of those Rat King Idols at someone if possible, or do a rush attack at high speed on Lyle Bolton like in the Jojo series. >w

This was copy & pasted from the description
One of the more under appreciated aspects of this game is that they not only do their best to stay within the continuity of the previous titles, but they also work to fill some of the plot holes introduced in later titles. For example, an audio recording in this game explains that joker likes to pretend each encounter with Harleen is his first, which explains why the Arkham asylum interview tape seems like their first meeting
That actually makes so much sense and is something that I never even considered
They cooked with the story of this game, ngl...
I love how they're not only attentive to continuity, but aware of incongruencies pointed out by fans & try reconcile them. It's an extra detail that shows their passion for the series.
I think they show more care for canon than the devs of the big flat-screen games.
they did well with this one
Wow! Major kudos for that!
If Batman played the Batman Arkham games
Next time Man plays Man Ham Shadows and has to face his shadow… Batman
I don't know why you say this guy plays like Batman himself. Has vigilante ever played video games? I don't think he would be good at it.

@@Hybrid225 What I meant was that if Batman played in Arkham games he wouldn't be as good as BAV because he doesn't care about having fun at all.
Batman after playing all the games: Hmm. I see they’ve improved with each game. Alfred send a surreptitious letter and donate to each studio.
Can we just appreciate the hand gestures, on top of already canon-like movement and fighting? Adds that extra bit of character to the whole playthrough, makes Batman feel that tad bit more human.
shut up about canon

10:27:47. This move by Irving "Matches" Malone in "Arkham Shadow" explains how Bruce Wayne broke his restraints while fighting off Penguin's thugs at the beginning of "Arkham City".
While I was playing this part, I recognized it instantly lol
So glad we go a story centering on Two Face as the villain. I hope future games give more underutilized villains a chance to shine.
Same. As well shining light on other straight-up unutilized villains in the games like Ratcatcher & The Ventriloquist/Scarface (Woody). I agree, I'd love if this is the direction future sequels take & that they have the same writing crew & director in Ryan Peyton.
@@themadtitan7603 They have to keep the same writing team for the future. This was easily the best story in the Arkhamverse imo
@@Riggs-m4e Agreed. Character driven with emphasis on continuity, Batman's allies, & the other villains of his gallery that have just as much capacity for depth & intensity as Joker.

@OkDay-14 Dude, it's Harvey Dent, what did you THINK was gonna happen to him
Man, the writers and VA actress have done an AMAZING job at really making you feel for Harleen. You see her fighting and wanting the best for her patients

@@ghidorah15honestly its a shock going going from her average performance in SSKTJL to her amazing performance here.
The canon Arkham Shadow playthrough.
Thank you, BAV.
You put it perfectly.
I intentionally avoided all other playthroughs and spoilers so I could watch you play it. Because how you play it is how it should be played.

The saddest thing about not being able to play as Malone after the ending is that you can't talk to Walker anymore
A full game Walkthrough??? We truly don’t deserve you BAV😭😭💯💯
You were expecting only half a walkthrough? Lol why would you think that?
That was hands down the best ending to an Arkham game since Arkham city. Perhaps even better. The way they adapted that origin genuinely left me shocked. I should have seen it but didn’t. I’m glad they really hit the tragedy of Harvey Dent
He really thinks he can save Gotham City.
Stopping at 4:42:16. I really hope Joe is just a regular guy who is genuinely regretful about his life.
When I first saw Joe in Arkham shadow I was thinking Joe's last name could be chill and at the end of the game I knew that Joe's last name was chill
@@Alilou279
They drop so many hint it's what tip me off.
This is how it happened, this is how Harvey Dent died, and Two Face was born.
Even in VR, BAV is the GOAT at these games
I always said that whoever played this was pure genius but now...whoever you are playing this game, I salute you because you are Batman!
crazy how this game does the exact same twist at the end as Arkham Knight, but it works this time.
@@fartsofdoom6491no life
@@RicJiang Yes, but I was talking about what we were told before release
@@danielfr8433 Did you reply to the wrong comment or are you seriously suggesting I have no life because I know a thing or two about an extremely popular gaming franchise?
Never thought I'd hear the term "yeeted" be used in a Batman game.
The mad lads actually transferred the Arkham combat to vr amazingly so
I definitely saw Harvey Dent being the Rat King as a parallel to the Animated Series Episode 22 Judgement Day where he creates a 3rd personality to fight for Justice.
I was thinking about the Judge too. You know that Sabbath game with Damian Wayne was gonna have The Judge in it
It's also a pretty big nod to "All-Star Batman: My Own Worst Enemy" by Scott Snyder & Romita JR.
I love how you do the little hand motion at the end of fights like the other arkham games
The weird thing is you do it without noticing, it was so funny when I realised I was doing it.
Still find it really cool that they put an entire Arkham game in VR!
It Should have been on Consoles not vr
Exactly @@scaryscarecrow5478
Arkham VR came out on P4 too
@@scaryscarecrow5478 quit your whining. its not like it would have been a flatscreen game in the first place. meta themselves pitched the idea of the game to wb. wb weren't planning on an arkham game at all. so it would have been this game in vr or it wouldnt exist at all

The fact this is 11 hours is insane
"Put your hands up!"
(Puts hands up, exactly as told)
(Gets shot anyway)
Ah, a classic. Not even parody at this point.
Yeah I'm praying that's the case
Yes, and if not we already have Batman Assault On Arkham as after Batman Arkham Shadow storyline. Making Origins, Shadow,Assualt, Asylum, City And Knight as The only cannon story lines In Batman Arkham Series. The rest are just an alternate universe fun. Even though The Batman Arkham VR is damn good, it's short and a dream or nightmare sequence. I always wanted a com plays experience After playing that and I am so glad Batman Arkham Shadow given that complete experience.
@themadtitan7603 we already have a trilogy arkham origins arkham origina blackgate and arkham shadow the black gate trilogy
This guy is going to cook so hard when he posts all the collectibles and Easter eggs
As for the performers listed on the My Alibi poster, nothing relevant came up
1:39 Not sure of the symbolism of Crime and Punishment being in the toilet.
Meanwhile, Sweet Justice Ice Cream actually seems to be a reference to DC Super Hero Girls
2:53 Crocky Crunchies seems in a bit of poor taste considering Killer Croc....
Ironically they actually have Lonnie Machin call into Vic Sage's radio show and he says that The Rat King is a false flag from the rich (lmao)
29:57 May I just say that this collectible is so weird.
His pub's also in Origins
37:46 Solomon Grundy's poster. Since he was encountered in Arkham Origins Blackgate, maybe this is a result of that?
46:44 Zatanna on a poster
54:13 The poster board seems to be implying Batgirl, including the one newspaper referencing Killer Moth's attack (as well as his name change from Drury to Drew Walker).
1:01:34 Notice how the Beacon Hotel's first e flickers, so it says Bacon
The whole exchange at 1:03:29-1:04:13 is hilarious
1:07:09 I'm pretty sure all of these names aside from Boone Carver's are references to comic book artists.
Dumas
1:08:30 This looks like a hybrid of a Grand Wizard and a Ghost
1:09:02 Early appearance by one of the Blackgate guards, CO Waring
1:10:26 She would come to regret this decision
1:11:32 The author here is Olivia Ortega, an old journalist from DC Canon.
It also says he raised prices for medications for a MacGregor's disease ; This is the disease Alfred and Nora Fries has in Batman and Robin
1:13:52 Okay, so the names on the Terror poster are also new.
1:53:05 I feel like that "Hell" block joke would get a citation
1:53:30 Bullard is somewhere else in the game, can't recall where
1:55:47 In the comics, Yamashiro is the brother in law of Katana, however, (SPOILERS) Knowing the twist of Yamashiro actually being Chris Nakano, this throws the existence of Katana into question. Chris Nakano is actually against vigilantes like Batman in the comics, interestingly enough, even becoming mayor to get rid of them. Perhaps his story is similar here?
1:56:16 I'm fairly certain "The Haven" is a reference to Blüdhaven.....
1:59:02 I like to think Wesker carved that Born to Die on the wall
how were you able to deduce all of this? Absolutely unreal levels of attention to detail
@@bkhan0186 Just googling any name I see.
Part 2
2:00:03 Chucky Berks is one of the casefile murderers in Origins. He actually has a weird subplot where he needs a conman and Robert Hanes is perfect, but he's like in the cell block above him. It's kinda funny
2:01:06 What's the symbolism of The Count of Monte Cristo being used here?
2:01:18 Another Zatanna poster. Her top hat was found in My Alibi, same place you could see Otis's gear in Origins. Maybe he's a fan?
2:03:46 First appearance of Andrew Carter, the Bane flunkie. I'm guessing his accent was just a fake.
2:04:41 And here's Robert Hanes, the conman who threw his mark off a roof.....pretty sure he wasn't black in Origins though
2:05:42 Principles of Large Facility Ventilation was previously used by Joker in Arkham Origins Blackgate
2:06:37 That is NOT a real name
2:08:18 "Looting, vandalism reported in the Bowery! Rat masks sell out at pop-up hat shop. Proprietor wanted." Well, this may be a reach, but I think Jervis Tetch is helping the Rat King along. His hat shop is in the Bowery after all, and considering his skeleton was see through in Origins.....maybe he just likes his rhymes
2:09:21 Looks like Selina's on the loose.
2:27:18 I seem to recall the Crime Alley shooter being an Ian Chase, but this guy really doesn't act like that guy
2:28:10 Ah, here's CO Waring from the Apartments
2:29:07 I'm guessing Bird dropped the accent from going native.
2:43:02 So his full name is Irving Dennis Malone.....
2:43:34 Okay I seriously do not like this.
2:44:00 Okay I can make out the TITLE of the blue book (The Psychology of Heroes and Villains) but I can't make out the author. And I can't make anything out for the red book
2:46:11 Another article from Maggie Carle.....is she trying to sow discontent?
2:46:20 Lunkhead?
2:47:38 Wait, Nora isn't dead though
2:47:41 Ah, Simon Stagg you greaseball
2:51:09 Wonder what that huge building off from Wayne Tower is
2:51:50 Kinda weird that Wesker just randomly brings that up .....
2:52:05 The subtle implication that Woody or Scarface is actually possessed is pretty interesting
2:55:58 First voicemail from Vicki Vale
3:01:01 "If you hear conflicting orders, verify with me first." Possibly a hint to Crane's influence?
3:01:10 Belle Reve is also paradoxically a storefront seen in Arkham Knight, along with the Slab, a Metahuman prison in comics. Another interesting thing : On Miagani Island, there are streets called Bolton Street.
3:08:56 The irony of Ryder saying what he hates after saying a hero doesn't define himself by what he hates is astounding
3:10:52 I believe one of the inmates actually references CO Ma the first time you go into the Commissary.
3:13:39 Not sure if Vernon is a reference or not
3:22:43 A NOUGHT ZEE facility in a middle eastern country ......gives me flashbacks to Oskar Dirlewanger
3:23:26 A reference to Vito Porter, the Mortician?
3:33:55 Apparently this was a side mission in Origins Blackgate. Personally I wish they could have let you break into that one.
3:37:44 References the 3 prior rat attacks, as well as one I don't recognize on Big Belly Burger
4:01:37 Again, it references Otis as if we've met him before.
4:03:25 Jon Valor is a reference to a classic Dc character named the Black Pirate. I believe he is referenced later as well
4:04:39 So apparently Otis uses both chemicals and Sonic means of rat hypnosis
4:04:51 Okay hold up.
4:20:33 Yeah, "surprises"
4:21:08 Ironic statement coming from the department of Sanitation
4:22:52 I see Alberto is doing better for himself
4:23:25 Now this is a very ominous story.....
4:27:40 AH, here's Jon Valor's other reference!
4:28:06 And here's the Order of St. Dumas
4:28:46 Anthony Wayne is an actual historical figure, believe it or not (I think.)
4:29:13 Carl Draper is actually a villain in the comics, known as the Master Jailer, formerly Deathtrap. He's a genius inventor who designed prisons, but he apparently had an impulse control disorder.
4:30:35 Okay that's just hilarious
4:31:23 Cripes, why are his eyes so red?!
4:32:47 Professor Strange......he really bounced around didn't he?
4:33:12 That guy on the right is actually Andrew Carter, funnily enough. Considering later on during Crane's section, there's a Venom research wing, perhaps Carter dodged a bullet here.....
4:34:08 Notice Joe's reaction to Malone's story
4:39:05 Another Anarky symbol on the left wall.....
4:40:25 Okay those dates seem WAAAY off balance
4:43:24 I stg, this is the best character ever
4:45:27 I swear, Ian Chase sounds nothing like he did in Origins
4:47:03 What even IS in that little box? And Furthermore, why can't you talk your way out of this? Seems a bit forced combat to me
4:49:19 Now this is an interesting tidbit, considering Count Vertigo is actually in Blackgate (he's in Arkham ward). Either A) LeBlanc is just lying and a coward, B) his encounter with Batman was so traumatic he developed Vertigo, or C) Count Vertigo is screwing with him for unknown reasons. Or even a mixture of all 3
4:55:35 His brother is Max Chilton, btw. He apparently tried to get revenge on Batman in the comics and had a hook hand
5:07:03 Again, very nice stuff
5:11:58 Next voicemail from Lucius Fox, mentioning the Applied Sciences division. This would later be eyed by Lex Luthor in Arkham Knight, as part of a larger takeover of Gotham businesses.
5:15:44 The 2 codes are Birdcage and vampire......not sure the significance
5:17:48 Here's the interview with Lonnie Machin. I believe his Gotham illuminati theory is the Court of Owls, as well
5:29:05 Speaking of Shock Gloves, does anyone remember the Wii U version of Arkham City having this electric punch system called B.A.T.? Also, in Origins, originally you were supposed to be able to select the shock gloves.
5:31:43 Kinda sad croc didn't get a cameo
5:34:10 I don't like the implications of the password to death row being viking.....
Part 3
5:36:25 It really seems to imply Ratcatcher was involved with the Christmas riots
5:38:43 Ah, good ole Julian
5:41:37 Well that explains WHY Ratcatcher left his gloves behind (I think).....
5:41:44 Imagine an au where Harvey Dent was Superman's brother who went to Gotham to become DA
5:52:29 It just hit me, but the hologram version of Flanagan looks like Shrike
6:09:35 "Cats Eye Opal stolen" Catwoman REALLY isn't being subtle. Also I think this is a reference to Batman 66 (As an aside FFS ZOOM IN ON THESE THINGS, I CAN'T READ THE DAMN PAPER)
6:10:24 It seems Bolton was considering or is using Venom. The irony of the back cover featuring a product, Zesty Cola, made in Santa Prisca is not missed
6:09:47/6:10:46 The irony of having Joseph deny Bolton only to congratulate him is also not lost. Little weasel, Bolton's burn back in the library was perfect for you
6:11:35 I love this entire scene with Batman and Bolton, actually top tier interaction
6:51:08 I'm confused as to who this is addressed to.
6:16:56 Third voicemail from Harvey
6:19:23 Poor Arnie.....
6:33:35 Riddler said otherwise in Knight
6:38:50 Love that punchline
6:44:39 Batman would be haunted by these words
6:45:23 So Joker's apparently had discussions with Crane, and Frank Boles is a father. I have a feeling the spot of bother Joker helped him out of was the breakout of Blackgate.
6:49:01 Oh god this entire interaction is GOLD
6:56:31 This story is obviously taken from BTAS, But the question remains, is this Riddler???
6:57:17 Edward Lawton? Like Floyd Lawton? The only Edward Lawton on comics is Floyd's son that got marked by a peedough. According to the games, Deadshot already offed his father, it can't be his brother.....who is it???
6:57:35 Ah, Warren White rears his shark teeth. This is building up towards his origins
7:04:26 Here's a slightly higher quality peek of that Cheetah calendar from 5:34:33.
7:07:09 Jeebus that painting
7:15:39 Two things : one, dunno who the Sicilian is. Second, it's ironic that there's a rat named Pinkerton, considering the Pinkerton's were union busters I think
7:23:14 This is that subplot with the other guy I mentioned in like the first or second part
7:25:07 And here's the other guy!
7:27:16 Master Kirigi was in the Initiation DLC for Origins
7:29:18 Wilcox MIGHT be a reference to a guard at Belle Reve from Young Justice
7:30:25 There's Forbidden Congo
7:33:50 This is actually a reference to Scarecrow's early appearances I believe.
The Saint Gertrude Diamond seems to be referring to Gertrude the Great
7:37:25 This particular broadcast says some interesting things about Victor Sage.
7:38:42 Here's more Jack Ryder. His speculation about Garfield is particularly pitiful, however he brings up a somewhat interesting point about the Rattenkonig or whatever. It feels like everyone is trying to go somewhere but is tied by the other
7:44:21 Huh.....? The subtitles say Bolton, but that sounds like the Generic guard???
7:53:44 Marge, I don't get the joke with this painting
7:54:30 This whole section is rather interesting
7:56:41 Why DID Crane set up this elaborate setup?
8:00:07 Werner Vertigo is one of Arkham Ward's patients..... there's also a phone call in game about his rejection from Task Force X. Strikes me as a very unstable individual
8:00:29 Ah, Arnie.
8:06:34 KNEW IT
8:10:34 I just love how petty Crane is here
8:15:24 How did batman not say anything about this
8:15:38 HOW DID HE NOT SPEAK UP ABOUT THIS
8:15:46 Elizabeth Kübler-Ross was a writer on near death experiences, as well as the 5 stages of grief (which probably hit Harley hard in City). The quote paints a tragic picture of Harley, doing everything she can to help
8:15:58 This is a particularly interesting reference : Jack Dunning is a reporter for the Gotham Gazette in comics, but he's also a serial killer known as the Robin killer.
Seems she doesn't agree that we live in a society......also, she seems to be thinking of her persona......again, HOW DID BATMAN NOT CATCH THIS
8:16:34 If you scan this letter, Harley narrates it in a much more crass and angry way......not sure of the significance of that.....
8:18:30 Fun fact : In Arkham Asylum, there were 3 cut collectibles : Two Face coins, Killer Croc scales, and Joker Spraycans.
8:19:06 This alone should have prompted Batman into action
8:20:44 I have a feeling that was Hugo Strange
8:21:22 Considering she almost said Harley Quinn in her interview tape with Joker, I think she's trying to put up a facade here.
8:30:11 Charlotte Rivers is a news reporter and ex girlfriend of Bruce Wayne. Anthony Rizzoli, meanwhile, actually apparently leads to a character from Watchmen, called Underboss. He's some sort of mob underworld figure. Not sure if it was intentional, considering the guy mentioned is a child abuser, but just putting it out there
8:30:42 Crane must really appreciate Carl Jung. The second password, Fear Itself, implies Crane believes that the only obstacle is the very concept of fear. He'll see differently soon.....
8:31:05 Kinda wish we could see inside the TYGER database and Quinzel's research.....
8:32:46 Oh, poor Arnie......
8:33:45 This part is heartbreaking
8:34:49 note the smoke at the end of the hall. If you remember the first elevator ride in medical in Arkham Asylum, this is a tell
8:35:59 Okay, this scene is always different whenever it's depicted in each Arkham game and it drives me crazy. Admittedly it's a bit more dramatic here presumably on purpose (the retelling of 8:39:00 points to that) but STILL, it's kinda annoying
8:40:19 There's a symbol on that book.....
8:43:14 PFFF, HE FALLS LIKE A CARTOON CHARACTER
8:49:00 This is where we see Crane's descent begin.
Part 4
8:51:51 It's very odd despite being labeled as Hugo Strange's archives, this is just a tiny room eerily resembling the room that Hugo interrogated his TYGER guard in for the live action Arkham City trailer. Did Strange get rid of his files?
8:52:40 Arnold seems to be in denial
8:53:48 Ah, "Venom Detox". This is presumably where Andrew Carter got "treatment".
9:01:19 ....I never thought about that
9:33:19/9:34:15 Here's the 3rd part of Berks and Hanes
9:35:00 Andrew Carter isn't doing too hot
9:35:30 Love this bit
9:41:23 Now THIS is a twist if I've ever seen it
10:01:58 Horton Spence was a photojournalist working for gothamite news, partnered with Vicki Vale. Colleen Edwards is notable for being one of the people that adopted the name Nightwing when he went missing in the comics
10:09:30 No dialogue for Lynn's the second time around? Lame
10:16:17 according to my search, Vanessa Rios is an assistant district attorney who helped Gordon prosecute corrupt gcpd members.
10:18:11 I can only imagine what's racing through johnny Bois head.
10:29:34 So......did Otis die? Because that blatantly contradicts Arkham Asylum's riddle for him
10:30:34 The birth of The Ventriloquist
10:36:27 The birth of The Question
10:38:28 Another reference to Dr. Yats
10:47:19 Wait, I don't think he ever actually goes back to free them
10:51:27 The way this parallels Harvey's dad is heartbreaking. Talk about self fulfilling prophecies
10:54:17 here's another appearance of Isley and Woodrue. "Engineer a plant species that'll scrub the earth clean again" is particularly ominous
10:55:17 So Strange always was secretive and aloof
11:02:13 Looks like Officer Pettit did join Dent.
11:07:06 I could have sworn Pettit was one of the men outside.....
11:13:36 I like this little tidbit
11:18:35 Wait a minute, QUERY?! AS IN QUERY AND ECHO?!?!
11:20:46 Dennis Schmidt-Fob as RIDDLER?!?! YOU HAD WALLY WINGERT RIGHT THERE!!! WHERE EVEN WAS HE!?!?!?
6:33:26 this interaction was so funny because Batman sounded genuinely irritated with a bat being called a rodent
Riddler makes that comparison in Arkham Knight in one of his trials
1:09:26 acting on point ❤️👌
I just wish it wasn't VR exclusive, I would love to play it otherwise.

This game wouldn't exist without vr
@@suparibhauOk? It still would’ve been fun to play it if it wasn’t in VR.
@@dngrsense I'm not denying that.

Any chance you could do an updated longplay of Batgirl: Matter of Family?
Including all of the other DLC's in Arkham Knight & Arkham VR.

@@themadtitan7603 he did it with the Arkham City DLC

Can't believe that Dick Grayson the first Robin became a member of the Rat Gang at 1:38:09
Bruce Wayne accidentally becomes the villain
Matches Malone: It was an accident!
@ he certainly underestimated the cult, that’s for damn sure
He was Malone in a episode of btas

There’s absolutely NO way Dick Grayson be in Batman Arkham Shadow, as a Rat!
He’s still too young in this early year!

He was later in origins multiplayer and the models face looks like the one from the multiplayer
It’s Dick Grayson the devs of the game said they’re gonna do alot more with that rat character hinting at potential DLC
@@ternative no story dlc. they only said "story bits"
In the Arkhamverse the Robins got adopted when they were older (15-16), which I kinda prefer tbh... not a fan of Batman running around with an 8 year old kid.
11:13:36 I like how he turns detective-vision into rescue-vision or viseversa
This was really an arkham worthy game, beautiful ❤
Your playthrough has won me over. I am getting VR just to play this game!! 🎉🎉
Batman Arkham Shadow is the best game of 2024
The game is just a bomb!! if they will remake the whole batman series in vr, it will be very cool!
@@DeusVult566 i could see arkham asylum working but i have no idea how they'd translate the other games

When you realize that this walkthrough is longer than his Asylum , City, and Origins walkthroughs
Yeah, gotta love how so many of us were initially so disappointed when this game was announced because we thought it was going to be another glorified 1 hour "tech-demo" like Arkham VR, only to be a full-ass game that is longer than Asylum's, City's and Origins' main stories, lol.
This game really makes you FEEL like Batman
Bro you are BATMAN!!!
Wow I can’t believe the rat king was Jason Todd the whole time! We never would’ve expected the exact same twist as last time! What a switcheroo
you mean Harvey
@ do…do you not get the joke
Man this game got me in love with the arkham series again😊
This finally confirms that arkham videos is literally batman
The story is incredible, Origins has always been my favourite for the story, the vibe and the gorgeous cinematics and they litterally made Origins 2, i really hope they give the team more Projects taking place before Asylum
Love the Arkham game series, better then most movies, definitely easy to sit through 12 hours of a play through.

Did anyone else expect the Rat King to be Joe?
I recognized the voice as Troy baker the first time I heard it, but I was expecting it to be joker

The mannerisms of this Jim Gordon sound close to Bryan Cranston’s Jim Gordon from the animated movie Batman Year One, nice touch.
I didn't know Cranston was Gordon at some point, that's hilarious considering Jonathan Banks was also Gordon in Arkham Knight, what's next? Aaron Paul as Gordon??? Anna Gunn as Barbara??? 😂
Nice to know this game confirmes Arkham Origins Blackgate as being Canon in the main Arkhamverse
2:43:27 I find it awesome that the developers used Malone, Batman, and Bruce as 3 different people because they basically are. Just look at the name of Batman when he speaks
IT'S GONNA BE SUPER FUN, IM BRINGING POPCORN, CAUSE IT'S LIKE WATCHING MOVIE 🤩🍿
I'd like to think that this is physically the strongest version of Arkham Batman. He's shed that bulky old suit from origins, trading out for a sleeker, more speed oriented suit. I think that two years of being all bulky would build his muscles up a ton. And, since he's a lot stronger now, he knocks criminals around really easily.
Or the rats are weak 🤷
I'm sorry Harvey 🥺
Even though this game was pretty good it doesn’t feel the same like the Arkham games we got from rocksteady. It makes me happy and sad at the same time when I see this game. God I hope we ever get to play the Arkham games we got from the year 2000s):❤️
The insertion of Gen-Z dialogue was a VERY poor choice.
31:45 - 32:09 is comedy gold 😭, props to whomever is playing, great use of physicality to express boredom/frustration etc. 😂

I really want to finish the whole Arkhamverse but I don't want to have to get a VR for this
I like the little touch of you doing the animation that batman does after a fight
Walker is hands down my favorite random thug character
Lord BVS🙏🏻💯
The First Max Payne game as well as the sequel will always be classics.
12 hours?!? Wow, seems like a real good amount of content! 🎉
1:53:15 is that Frank Boles?
yep.
😂
Officer Balls?!
OFFICER BALLS HAS RETURNED
This game should have gotten the big marketing push from WB. Not Suicide Squad. This game remained faithful to the Arkham franchice.
It's still amazes me that Batman here is voiced by Sonic the Hedgehog.
It’s hard to tell who’s stupider, the crooks or the guards.
Love how we hear from Vic Sage from time to time when he’s not moonlighting as “The Question.”
I will forever love the og voice actor for Arkham games but the origins voice actor is still really good and even gives him a little emotion
The stay down hand sign 🤣🤣🤣25:40
I would even like to see him "YEET" one of those Rat King Idols at someone if possible, or do a rush attack at high speed on Lyle Bolton like in the Jojo series. >w
