Maybe it’s because I obsessively watched it over and over, but... how could you forget this Pippi tale?! It’s so emotional with Pippi having to deal with being all by herself in a place she hadn’t seen in years, making new friends and missing her dad, who for most of the story, for all she knows, might even be dead... and missing her mother, who IS. Yet Pippi still makes a lot of sunshine for everyone. Her animal friends and her new friends are able to help her smile again despite the sadness... it’s just so... so... well, I guess, it’s as I already said. Emotional. I remember little tiny me used to cry and laugh so much with this movie back in the early 90’s.

This remake from the 80's is just a American knock-off of the 1969 Swedish version.
The original PIppi song was fun and playful. This one sounds like it was made by people who have absolutely no understanding of the spirit of Pippi Longstocking or the idea with which Astrid Lindgren created her.
This film is like the goodie two shoes american-Christian-family-friendly adaptation that just doesn't get who Pippi is and what the character is really about.
