@Wioshit - I think he's saying that the creative process is messy, manic, sometimes destructive.. etc. I guess he was reasoning that having "the person you love" sit there with you through it all is undignified or painful. He seems to be describing his songwriting as work, and one only needs to know that you probably don't want to bring your spouse into the place that you work. That's my interpretation at least.
