As soon as you said Silver Springs I was amazed at your bravery. The sheer amount of swamp puppies in that place ..*shivers* I'm from The finger lakes in NY and visited my uncle in Hogg Valley. We hopped in the boat and went upstream to the park we had been tourists at the day before! Was gnarly!!!
This was me as a child, I was a turtle expert, was bring home huge snapping turtles home until my parents told me to turn around and take them back to where I found them.
Dang, didnt realize softshells could draw blood like that! Should have assumed, just never caught/interacted with any wild ones given how elusive they can be. One of my favorites tho!!

Forrest I'm begging you please help us get rid of all pythons from the Everglades. They've now established themselves in Tampa & Orlando & they are moving & eating everything in their path. We are not even making a dent in their population with the Python Bowl or the State workers. Florida Wildlife needs your help please.🐢
