To it's credits. The movie does follow the original story more than Disney did.(the uncle thing, and that he moved the palace to Africa) But it is still horrible.
Yeah, I was actually pretty surprised it wasn't ever brought up in the review. But then again, this movie has violent threats, neglectful parenting, objectification of women, the possible assault, battery, and maybe murder of an innocent medicine lady, some creepy sexual overtones, and the on-screen death of Stalker Jafar. So white washing may just be another special part of the Goodtimes Platinum package.
I once binge-watched a lot of bad animated knockoffs (even some Dingo pictures crap) and it was a major shock to the system when I watched a decently animated movie later. I don't even think it was a Disney movie I liked all that much, but it made me appreciate the animation a HELL of a lot more at least.
wow, I always forget what good animation skills will give you. Putting the two films side by side made me appreciate disney's animation team a looooooot more.
Everyone here is talking about how this is closer to the original source material. But don't you guys get that that's a mark of laziness? Disney deviates from the original story because often times the story needs updating and changes to make it more suitable for film production and wide spread audiences. So, yes, it is closer to the story, but to me, comparing the quality of Disney and good times, it's clearly a mark of laziness since they essentially copy and paste the story and script rather than put in the work to make it more enjoyable.
I agree that sometimes reinventig the story is great, but for example, Tiana and the frog was simply INSULTING towards the source material. The novel it's based on (published in 2002) is a beautiful story set in the middle ages, the princess' name (yes, she IS a princess, not a waitress) is Emma, and the prince's is Eadric. Basically everything is wrong with the movie. It makes no god damn sense. It actually destroyed my childhood since that book was one of my all time favourites. So yes, the Disney adaptation sometimes destroys the original story for the sake of changing something (like turning Emma the white princess who lives in a kingdom to a black waitress in New Orleans a hundred years ago) It wanted to be original and the result is simply a mess. I prefer if they stick to the original content. The Disney adaptation of the little mermaid also destroyed my childhood. The mermaid is supposed to DIE at the end. I was shouting like an idiot to the screen because she didn't in Disney's film.
I am Tade Yours and Kye's opinions will be respected. Liking the original more is not a crime, but neither is liking the remake. It's all up to personal taste. Some may simply prefer the happier or possibly "progressive" for lack of a better term, Disney versions of the stories rather than the nitty grittier ones. As said earlier, generally the former resonates with a mass audience better than the latter. And I may be the vocal minority, but I simply sought to bring a touch of reason to the situation because I'm simply that sort of person.
Fun Fact, this film takes more from the original fable. like Not-Jafar stealing the lamp via dressing up as a lamp salesman, the whole infinite wish thing was changed in the final cut of the Disney movie (to add more peril, i presume), and the being able to take as much as you want from the cave (as long as you retreived the lamp). also they changed the setting to Persia
I find it funny how both versions of the movie are set in Arabia when the original story from the book is set in China. It is referred to the Land of the East, and then intimated through language to it's location. Oh, and there are two genies, one from the lamp, who is utterly terrifying, and one from a ring, who is more the lighthearted comic we all know, but is not as powerful.
I was about to say this too! I had a story book before that had the "real" version of the stories and I remember being so confused why there were two genies and why the story was so far off the Disney one lol
In fairness, most adaptations change the setting in this way. Probably because the story just feels more Arabian than Chinese (with the Sultan, the Vizier, the Djinnis and all) and because it's often included in Arabian Nights.
Yes, but the many stories that take place in the book are not all from Arabia. The Arabian nights title came many years later when it was translated into more modern languages.
Technically in the actual story if I am remembering right Aladdin is supposed to be chinese given the region is from in the story, and was a lazy bum for most of his life until his whole adventure.
Speaking of bootleg ripoff films, I used to own a Kung Fu Panda ripoff called "The Legend of Kung Fu Rabbit". It's apparently so bad and obscure that I can't even find anything about it on the Internet.
For some reason, I had the terrible version of Anastasia on VHS. All I can remember were weird talking birds and some fancy eggs or something... I can't even find it on Google now.
okashi10 I actually liked that bootleg version haa www.imdb.com/title/tt1125856/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3 Film want there, and actually animated them going to death location pretty much..dark!
♚ QUEEN OF OBSCURE PAIRINGS ♚ Thanks for finding that! That's the one. I didn't hate the movie, but I sort of remember the story having no real ending...
Yea. I love the Bootleg, as it was daring to animated them in theHouse of Special Purpose, and showed their death(well off screen..).That is a messed up, but daring in a kid film..AND I LOVE THE SONGS! okashi10
the cave segment is actually closer to the original story than the disney version, the "don't touch anything" rule only applies until the lamp has been grabbed. and the genie does have unlimited wishes, there was also a genie of the ring (who isn't as strong) as well as the lamp and the lamp salesman bit was there too, the whole moving the palace was there too..
This movie should have ended before it even started. I mean, what the F*** were they thinking!? I wonder if you're going to review Snow White Happily Ever After.
LewToons Well just a heads up, it isn't. The animation was a bit better than this movie's but that's all I can say about it. Wish you all the luck with that one.
LewToons How did I know at 5:37, as soon as you said the word cabbages, we would get an avatar clip? Also, the fact that you've seen Avatar makes you even more awesome.
the music in the background when he finds the lamp...sounds like Belle discovering the Beast's Rose in Beauty and the Beast and exploring the corridors of the west wing. May not be the same but I feel like it is
If you'd like to know what music it is, it's actually Aquarium by Camille Saint-Saëns, but have to admit, I always found the Beauty and the Beast music is very similar at times :)
A colony that runs independently, you don’t want Britain to keep shittin on us endlessly! Essentially, they tax us relentlessly then King George turns around runs a spending spree
4:53 Annnnd Hassim just stabbed himself in the stomach as he sat down. Or else that scimitar tucked into his waistband is just a design on his shirt and not real, take your pick.
Genny Baratta Exactly. It's kind of reminding me of Disney's Pocahontas and Pocahontas 2. The first is arguably a decent movie, but it gets criticized for not being accurate to history. The sequel is definitely more accurate to history, but it gets riffed for everything else. Question is, if you had to watch one of them, which would you pick? The original Pocahontas most definitely -_-
Ian Sweeney Please leave me alone. You've been at this for months and it's honestly weirding me out how you always seem to find my comments on random videos...

Paola Ulloa Yeah, lip synced animation is a luxury only really afforded to English speaking productions, and only in their original English release. Japan rarely if ever bothers to do it with their animation, and when we get American or Brittish made cartoons over here (Sweden), lip syncing is far from a priority. You'll see an attempt at it in Disney movies, but even then, having a good adaptation of the script takes higher priority than matching the lip flaps. Which i personally think is a good thing. Now in the rare, homemade cartoon productions we've had, of course there have been lip syncing. But you know, outside of France, Belgium and the U.K, there's not really a lot of European animation going around. At least not that get exported, outside of film festivals that is. My point is, while i don't begrudge English speakers for wanting nicely synced lip movements to their animation, since it is something that they've grown accustomed to, it really is something of a luxury. And not really that big of a deal. But you know, to each their own.
***** same! I also have so many Disney movies on vhs in Spanish xD like I barely saw Beauty and the Beast in English for the first time when I was 19 because my vhs was Spanish
+CrossfacePanda well here in portugal any official dubbing are actually very well done. We have some of the best dubbing teams in the planet. Then i see comments like this and realize how lucky I am for that
To be fair, though... this version is very close to the original fairytale while the Disney version barely resembles the original story at all Also, the reason why Aladdin doesn't use the genie to see the princess is because his mom made him promise to not use it ever again and he wanted to honour her wishes.
+luckystardoom fan really 😂😂😂 so wait was this the Aladdin your family accidentally bought as a kid thinking this was the lidget Aladdin, or have you just never seen Aladdin? Because Aladdin is like my favorite Disney movie
+Faith Ganyla I watched this version of Aladdin at my nan's house when I was a kid and I remember enjoying it. I seen a bit of the Disney Aladdin at school a few years after but I wasn't really fussed about the Disney version.
+luckystardoom fan ohhh OK 😂😂 which do u prefer? I watched Aladdin in School, but it was this cheep knockoff version, and I never actually enjoyed the lidget until I was casted in it in October 2015.
A diamond in the rough.... A diamond in the rough were have I heard tha- A DIMOND IN THE ROUGH A SHINEY PIECE OF COAL TRY AND REACH MY GOAL (Hamilton yasssssssss)
+Dury Zaragosa-Camacho Well she had a pretty minor part. She's in the beginning and I think the end playing, I guess the military person who was in charge of the radar (don't know what their called XD). Yeah sorry for the vague details, I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid. And let's just I haven't been to eager to watch it again. :P
+Ninjanicktf he was the original voice for Leonardo in The 1980's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon and Snoopy in Snoopy the Musical. Those are the only roles I'm familiar with.
That second "public domain music" he mentions is also classical music (the first being from "Carmen") It is called "Aquarium", and it is written by 19th-century composer Camille Saint-Saïens.
I actually flinched when the swordfighting started... I can hear Pearl quietly groaning in the background... I commend your bravery in doing this review.
I can imagine back in 1992 Christmas shopping and kids asking they want Aladdin but but their grandparents see that version in the store and they get confused and buy them that knockoff instead
If it helps, the story is more faithful to the original story than the Disney Version, besides the fatima plot of the latter half was originally with the wizard's brother, as the original guy died in his castle from Aladin and the Princess spiking his drink
So far, these knock-offs you have reviewed that I've watched follow the actual fairytales more closely than Disney, though they do not follow them precisely.
Actually the story here is much closer to Aladdin as I've read it opposed to the one done by Disney. It might sound crazy, but if one would read the story of Aladdin, the cartoon movie here actually narrated it much closer to the source.
I'm sorry but these were the best cartoons back in the beginning of the 2000's? I only had this version of Alladin and me and my brother loved it. Sure it's not Disney, sure the animation sucks, but it was fun for KIDS to watch. I also had the Cinderella one and loved it. Also I believe these were done for Europe in a way because we didn't have a lot of Disney movies back then. Just my guess.
+Pampd Ohhh, I had a box set of these that had sleeping beauty, the little princess and Cinderella. I loved them so much! (I was about to comment that this is not a rip off, It's just a different version, but thanks for pointing this out)
+Pampd So instead of having the classic animation your folks bought you the Chinese knockoff? No problem my friend you can find these film at your local yard sale, smop meet or Goodwill.
God, this channel really gave me a ton of nostalgia. Sad to see it go... Watching these Goodtimes knockoff reviews was my childhood before I discovered Phelous.
That's not Tango, hahahaha, it has absolutelly nothing to do with it. That is La Habanera, a main musical piece of the opera Carmen, by Bizet in the early XIXth century, one of the most important operas ever composed, and it's actually based in la Jota, a typical dance/music from Spain. Tango didn't even existed back then.
in defense of the violence in this, it's tame compared to the Disney version. Disney has swords every two seconds, threats to cut off Jasmine's hand, the original opening song talking about cutting off someone's ear, and Jasmine in a sex slave costume....
I like how he doesn't get to know the princess or anything, he's just like "Oh look, a pretty rich princess I'm going to marry her immediately!"
Obviously it works that way.
+AnymousScreams That's how I met my boyfriend. He's my ex now
+Jitse Put Okay actually not but ok
+Una Atilano Well Said!😉
10 years from now
"How did you meet mommy?"
"Oh, I broke into the bathhouse to creep on her while she was bathing"
Romance for the ages, folks
WHY DOES ALLADIN LOOK LIKE CARLOS FROM THE MAGIC SCHOOLBUS
OMG HSHSHJSHDVAH I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT
+Heyzoey sushi HAHA
+Dan Oliver I can never unsee this now. 😂
+Dan Oliver I can never unsee this now. 😂
SO THIS IS WHAT CARLOS DID BEFORE THE MAGIC SCHOOLBUS!
To it's credits. The movie does follow the original story more than Disney did.(the uncle thing, and that he moved the palace to Africa) But it is still horrible.
True
And the thing about the roc's egg
Very True...My high school is doing Arabian nights and this is alot closer to the story.
But yeah, Still awful
the lamp salesman thing too
At the cabbage part: Hmm...I sense an avatar reference...
5 seconds later
MY CABBAGES!!!
lol
literally me
when I saw the clip, I said out loud "thank you!!"
My EXACT thoughts!
MAI CABBAGES!!!!!
Well uh...Aladdin you're uh...looking pretty white there...you feeling alright?
Yeah, I was actually pretty surprised it wasn't ever brought up in the review. So white washing may just be another special part of the Goodtimes Platinum package.
The both of you are great.
facts
They did say he was Persian.
Lol
Is it awful that I laughed when Hassim impaled himself with his own sword
Nope - I was laughing, too!
Lol!
I laughed too and was reminded of King Tommen's ridiculous death.
no it was funny
+Heather P How was Tommen's suicide ridiculous?
I love this because it just reminds you how AWESOME Disney movies are, and how flawless the animation is.God, I'll appreciate Disney's more now!

Glidergirl10 i dont understand how you think its easy its really hard
But of course! Disney trends to have some if the best animators on the planet.
Glidergirl10 It's not just that Disney has better animators, it's probably more than Disney has a larger staff.
true

Also, the reason why Aladdin doesn't use the genie to see the princess is because his mom made him promise to not use it ever again and he wanted to honour her wishes.
Why does Aladdin look like Percy Jackson in this movie
I've actually seen it before when I was little....now that I Look back at it....oh god
XD
+Sharon Cipher Fan this is the only Aladdin movie I have ever seen.
This guy is like the nicer version of Nostalgia Critic. I love it.
+Jean Deloris And he's actually funny.
A E S T H E T I C 生活のための Yeah that too.
GIMME MY CABBAGES!!!!
I lost it laughing.
The Grand Atheist (David Henrie): MY MANACONDA!!!!!!!! XO
Uh Oh.
Princess Jasmine Hey Jasmine! I didn't know you had youtube!
spellgirlkittys I didn't know she was from this era...
***** Same way the genie can go off to Dinseyworld......
Princess Jasmine can i have an autograph Jasmine ?
***** I was from the pre Islamic Era so
how does that weird beard not give the mother the creeps
Idk she doesn't judge lolXD
If you take Aladin's Cabbages, we take your existence
Am I the only one who thinks that the knockoff Aladdin looks like Prince Eric?
Nope I do to
Thank god I thought I was the only one
lol,my first thought when I saw him
A diamond in the rough.... A diamond in the rough were have I heard tha- A DIMOND IN THE ROUGH A SHINEY PIECE OF COAL TRY AND REACH MY GOAL

oH MY GOD.
HAMILTON LITERALLY FOLLOWS ME EVERYWHERE
Hamilton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3bunnies1girl BRIHHHH I LITERALLY SAND THIS WJEN I HEARD IT IN THE VIDEOOO
This is actually pretty close to the original story. They're just missing the second genie.
Yes.
In other words, they’ve mixed two genies into one.
Fun Fact: My aunt actually acted in Transmorphers.
I'm sorry
Mr.BigMac
Aw it's okay! XD
IM SSOOO SORRY😩😩
Was she good?
+Dury Zaragosa-Camacho Well she had a pretty minor part. She's in the beginning and I think the end playing, I guess the military person who was in charge of the radar (don't know what their called XD). Yeah sorry for the vague details, I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid. And let's just I haven't been to eager to watch it again. :P
The first few seconds into the film and the opening song doesn't even rhyme. Quality guaranteed.
It does
Aladdin in this movie is voiced by Cam Clarke (one of my favorite voice actors)!
What else was he in? I know that voice but I can't remember where I've heard it XP
+Ninjanicktf he was the original voice for Leonardo in The 1980's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon and Snoopy in Snoopy the Musical. Those are the only roles I'm familiar with.
love your profile pic, and cool! I didn't know
I noticed that too!
He was also Leisure Suit Larry.
"The Thief and the Cobbler" was made at the same time Aladdin was released, and was an amazing movie that fell into obscurity. It's a damn shame
I love the Into the Woods duet at the end!
It takes twoooo!
+Anna Lee (myfangirltopia) beyond winters and slippers and hoods
make my tears stop I just finished being in the play into the woods for 5 weeks I listened to that song
@@littlezorkie9311 Just the two of us beyond lies!
That second "public domain music" he mentions is also classical music (the first being from "Carmen") It is called "Aquarium", and it is written by 19th-century composer Camille Saint-Saïens.
Thank you really wanted to know! Have heard it somewere else than Alladin and was like where is this from XD
I actually flinched when the swordfighting started... I can hear Pearl quietly groaning in the background...
I commend your bravery in doing this review.
This series really reminds me of Jonhtron. Expect all Disney.
ikr and with a little nostalgia critic in it
There's no H bruh.
+Crystal Colour Jon*Tron, dear
Vanessa Riddle and less yelling XD
It's so weird because I remember when my brought home this and I cried and was like it's not Aladdin he doesn't have a mom
and my mom was so confuse
In the original Disney version he did but they cut her out.
You know, because you did this now we are going to want to see you do more of these right?
thepokekid01 let's hope I can wrangle up some more bad knockoffs!
LewToons Shouldn't be hard
LewToons I have two if you want me to send them to you.
+LewToons I found a 10 pack of these knock offs including Aladdin for 5 dollars!
+LewToons little panda fighter
OMG! I remember this Movie! XD I had the video as a child. The nonsense even came to Germany! XDDD
I love the deer in the garden just flailing their heads around to make them look.... serene?
at least there isn't a terrible Mulan knock off right?
Unfortunately there is. it's called The Secret of Mulan and they're all animals. Mulan is a caterpillar. It's mindblowing.
+Bridget Dunleavy oh my lord💀
+Bridget Dunleavy oh god...I need 999 bottles of Bleach
It's also ripping off The Secret of Nimh because of it's name and that it has anthropomorphic animals as the main characters.
+Bridget Dunleavy I WAS JUST GETTING HOPEFUL. DID YOU HAVE TO SAY THAT.
I am the only one who NEVER looks at the lipsinking? (Probably cause I'm foreign and I've saw most of those film in my original language)
I can imagine back in 1992 Christmas shopping and kids asking they want Aladdin but but their grandparents see that version in the store and they get confused and buy them that knockoff instead
Why is everyone white in almost any Aladdin Film? It's set in an Arabian dessert area. Not a sand pit in England or America.
am I the only one who thinks the song while he's stealing the lamp from the cave sounds like the music from Beauty and the Beast?
It's "Aquarium" by Camille Saint-Saens, and yeah it sounds a lot like Beauty and the Beast.
Omg it does
That "tango theme" is the Habanera from the Opera Carmen by Georges Bizet.
I love how the opening song gives away the whole movie.
YOU'RE COMPLETELY RIGHT, THANKS ♡
(I was about to comment that this is not a rip off, It's just a different version, but thanks for pointing this out)
Amelia Langford I'm glad I'm not the only one.
+Pampd So instead of having the classic animation your folks bought you the Chinese knockoff? No problem my friend you can find these film at your local yard sale, smop meet or Goodwill.
hackman669 In reality this one's story was actually more accurate than Disney's. It's not chinese tho just because the animation isn't so good.
this is just from a critic's stand point, but yeah I loved these films as a kid as well
8:20 A magical outdoor garden inside the Cave of Wonders throws you for a loop but not the head-banging deer that populate it? XD
When you added that "MY CABBAGES' clip, I was like...
(INSTANT SUB)
This is, uh, more accurate to the storybook version than Disney one.
WAY more accurate than the Disney one.
The Disney version wasn't ment to be compleatly accurate
But when has Disney ever been accurate 😂😂😂
+Spacedog18 Amethyst
Your spelling wasn't either.
+KitKat Luvr I plead the fifth amendment
God, this channel really gave me a ton of nostalgia. Sad to see it go...
Watching these Goodtimes knockoff reviews was my childhood before I discovered Phelous.
"NO HASEEM!"
I'm crying.😂
I heard Gobi's Valley from banjo kazooie!
Nice touch man!
***** There was also the desert theme from Super Mario 64.
+Eric Roberts omg ty i heard
it too i thought i was crazy
Actually quite close to the original Aladdin tale, still doesn't make it a less awful movie though.
Got freaking frustrated about the bad animation😒 Now i'm curious how long it toke them to make this😂😂
Me too.
Myrte 9 mouths cuse random.
A fucking week.
2 freakin days....
a minute.
My friend and I have a ritual: Every weekend we watch bad/rip-off movies. I just found out about this channel and we are sooooo happy I did.
Ur like a sweet version of nostalgia critic
Who sings lovely!!!!!!!!!? Love that into the woods ref!!!
+Thespiafangirls finally someone got that!!
and funnier, and cuter
Now I want to see a crossover ^^
Ikr
isn't hazeem the name of the thief who goes into the cave of wonders but gets killed at the start of disneys Aladdin?
it's gazeem
Hey it's Chevonne! same thing:p
in defense of the violence in this, it's tame compared to the Disney version. Disney has swords every two seconds, threats to cut off Jasmine's hand, the original opening song talking about cutting off someone's ear, and Jasmine in a sex slave costume....
17:22 in the word of Edna Mode "NO CAPES!" This guy clearly didn't get the memo lol
OK, at the MY CABBAGES! Part, I fist-pumped so hard my arm hurts...
"Offering himself up as a servant"
I have the honor to be, your obedient servant-
I'm ok when videos buffer
I'm ok with advertisements
But when advertisements buffer, I suffer
The duet at the end is the best part!
One point I'd like to make about this final battle, the sword is sharp enough to pierce through skin, but not robe cloth that tears when tripped over.
Mother for some reason can't work out that someone is pretending to be her brother/brother-in-law.
I SHIP CHAD AND GRETELLLLLLLL
Corrine Stevens ooooooo tell me the ship name!
seth long Chetel.
***** It takes two! (to ship)
Indeed I do agree
Chetel sounds like a cereal brand... I LOVE IT!
btw, I think it was some sort of secret passage to Paradise or whatever so it had a garden XD
What?! He gave her back to you, and then you just shot him? O.o
