Sam Houston, half brother of Jake the snake the snake btw, had serious alcohol problems that derailed his career and life. Dude went to jail for 10 years
I watched this rumble a couple of weeks ago on the WWE RUclips Channel, and I forgot that at the time heels never fought heels and the faces never fought faces. It was only heels vs faces, which made for an interesting First Royal Rumble to say the least. How times have changed in in wrestling from the last 36 years.

In real life, Sam Houston was the half brother of Jake the snake Roberts. He was also the brother of rock ‘n’ roll who was women’s champion around this time. All three were the children of grizzly Smith.
Favorite wrestler of all time for me was Ric Flair, he was the most entertaining, had the most memorable catch phrases and selfless, man would put anyone over and make em look good doing it. Thanks for bringing me back to an 8 year old
Thanks for another throwback Ricky. I was 7 and living in Kuwait when this RR occurred. I’d watched British wrestling with my grandfather in England, but wouldn’t become aware of WWF till a couple years later. Can’t wait for Saturday! Are you going to do a preview/simulation of the women’s RR?
13:00 WOW! They got Muraco's little step back and forearm PERFECT...also, notice Don is wearing the infamous 'baby blue' trunks. Those are an Urban legend that it means you are out of the WWF soon after being forced to wear those. I said it the same time you did, One Man Gang living up to his name...OMG!

Fun fact. Back when this was brought up, everyone except for Vince thought it was a good idea. Vince thought that no one would be into it at all. So he basically said okay fine. Let's make it 20 men and just do it just to see what happens. So that is all the first Royal Rumble was. Just a test match to see if people cared.
Hello. I have an idea for your retro list. How about adding Freddie Blassie, John Tolus, The Great Goliath, Black Gorman, and other wrestlers that were wrestling at a venue called, "The Olympic Auditorium" in Los Angeles, California. That was back in the 1970's. Great video by the way. Thank you!
Well done one man gang! Did you know one man gang was also the last person eliminated in the First World War 3 60 man battle royal in wcw… he also made it to the final 3 in the 1989 rumble I don’t think he appeared in any others… perhaps the greatest runner up in royal rumble/ big battle royals history!

Sam Houston is the half brother of Jake Roberts. He was married to Baby Doll in NWA but got divorced. He was taken down the card as a results and was never given a good push in WWF.

Done it brother 😀
@@RickyJSports You’re welcome. can’t wait to see what you have planned for this time around. Whatever it is I know I’m gonna like it because I’ve been following since your first rumble season and I’ve enjoyed every one of them
On October 2 1988 I was born so I can’t believe the first ever royal rumble was in the year I was born
Brother eliminated brother in Sam Houston taking out Jake Roberts!
Love it!
More like this please.
for sure dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sam Houston is the brother of Jake the Snake.
I just watched the real 88 Rumble a few weeks ago
Hard to believe the Royal Rumble is two years older than I am
Ps: Hearing Bret Hart's theme just filled me with such excitement
haha awesome!
