Nice video I was wondering it seems like it's easier to pull a motor and take the transmission off if I had to redo my transmission I have a stretch limousine MKT with 3.7 I have a lift to lift up my car and when I do it I want to change the electric steering and do I have to reprogram my transmission and my steering thank you
My 3.5 engine just died and I have buy a new one. Everyone wants to offer me pocket change for her, so I rather rebuild. May I have the contact of where you purchased the replacement. Also is the 3.5 from the Sport edition the same as the 3.5 from the limted edition?
Don’t do it this way....just pull the rear driveshaft and the one bolt holding the steering shaft to the rack. Lower the engine and transmission as a unit on the subframe, With suspension attached. All ford products that are fwd or awd are like this.
@@robertlasater2609 I had a lift and so I lowered the vehicle about a foot and a half off the ground and put jackstands in four places on the subframe unbolted it and lifted the body away. This leaves the engine and transmission and suspension perched on four jackstands and allows you to get a cherry picker over there to swap the engine. If you’re doing this in the driveway I feel bad for you
@@inclementmikep59 I have a shop....but I still am dreading it. I primarily work on GM trucks. But I couldn't believe all that the guy took off. There's another video of a Mexican kid that pulls it from the top. I was really impressed. It's in Spanish but you get the gist of it. Thanks for responding.
@@robertlasater2609 it’s really not bad. Done several of them from water pump failures. If yours isn’t all wheel drive it’s even easier. If you take it from the top, and remove all that stuff, and the torque converter is rusted onto the flywheel, you are screwed and still need to remove from bottom. And they frequently do this especially if you are north of DC. Save yourself the drama, go from bottom. Mark the jack stands on the floor or tie string from holes on unibody so when you lower body back to subframe it’s pretty close to lined up with subframe bolt hole locations. Fords suck cause they have no lower front engine mount, so once it’s free it’s falls forward on frame. You’ll need a floor jack and block of wood to keep it level. Good luck
@@inclementmikep59 in Tranquillity....central California. And yes the waterpump went out. It's my sister in laws...I ordered a motor from Jasper. So you think maybe try to pull from the top? I was thinking to pull the sub frame.
