Tears is literally the only first party switch game that was $70
Does that mean MP4 will be at $70?

@@therealjaystone2344 Considering Prime Remastered was at $40, the answee is more than likely no. Now if Prime 4 and Mertoid 6 end up selling super well, like 5-10 units, then we can ask the question if MP5 will be $70

Mario vs. Donkey Kong (switch) got a full REMAKE and it was still $49.99!!! Absolutely insane. Pick a side, Nintendo.

Thank you for being a fellow Skyward Sword fan 🙂
Not surprised, but I don't mind since i have never played the Original wii game.
It's kinda crazy seeing this unfold on Nintendo's side, knowing that I'm getting not only a remaster, but also a brand new game in the same package all for $50. (Sonic X Shadow Generations)
Its fine come on! People will buy it anyway thanks to the Mario movie!
Bro I remember when I used to only have the just over 30 euros for like Mario game now it’s over 50 euros and it’s not easy to get that much money when some people don’t have an allowance
Did you cry when Mario and Luigi came back?
I miss the "Classics" line that they had during SNES times and later the "Players Choice" for Gamecube and then "Nintendo Selects".
Breath of the Wild wasn’t $70
Nintendo priced pikmin 1+2 (and shadow dropped it, and delayed the physical) because they do NOT want casual gamers to buy it and be disappointed or burnt out with the Pikmin franchise. They want the casual gamers to buy the new and shiny Pikmin 4. Pikmin 1+2 is a niche product intended for long term fans who know what they are getting into. Nintendo does that a lot: they railroad casual users into buying the games that offer the best possible experience so that franchises keep growing in popularity. They still sell the other games because money but they make sure not to market them too much and put enough price or availability friction to ensure that casual players won't buy them by accident thinking they are the newest entries.
If you don't like the price, simply wait a few weeks, find it second hand for half price.
Metroid Prime being called niche is absurd. Literally the only Nintendo Direct in 9 months used it as its big finale!
I got a Luigi's Mansion 2 HD ad when I clicked on this video.
It's too expensive
I don't care and I'm not gonna buy.
Maybe if it drops to 20+ in a selects line, I could be intetested.
paper mario TTYD is one of the games that should be 60 dollars cuz it has way better graphics 2 new bosses then the other game
What would you be happy to pay for a Mario maker 3d? I hope it stays at $60 at least.
i dont have problem with the 60 price
Personally I don’t mind because I don’t have the wil version anymore and I also don’t have a working 3ds and I don’t have a copy of returns on there anymore either so it’s much cheaper for me to just get the switch version plus this is technically a definitive version of this game anyways so it doesn’t make sense to me to buy the old versions because both of them are incomplete but I don’t agree that Nintendo should keep this Business practice up because not all there re releases is worth the asking price even this game to a extent
See....I'm not getting returns remake. I already have it on my 3ds and still play it, and I like looking at it in the 3d aspect.....so

Oh stop complaining! $60 is fine. Remastering ain't free, studios need to get paid to renovate existing games, and development is expensive regardless of new or remastered. And furthermore, age does not make media a lesser value! Concerning the imperfections in the graphics, Forever Entertainment has 6 months to sort that out. Otherwise, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong look better than before, the round shadows are an artifact from the 3DS subject to change, and color grading is subjective due to capture hardware discrepancies.

Seriously just because the games graphics are slightly improved there is NO justification for making those old games 60 bucks
Nintendo games never drop in price. Nintendo is just acting like they never took it off the market.
old remasters should've been $40 at max
This is never going to stop since people complain about the price and then buy the game anyway. And I know people have been trying to make the defense of Prime Remastered being $40, but the fact of the matter is that Metroid isn’t as big or popular as Luigi, Zelda or even Donkey Kong. Nintendo knows this, hence the price difference.

Funfact: The value of the dollar has decrease, which creates pressure to raise the price. So, due to inflation, a $70 game was only worth about $52 in 2014. And this means that a $70 game isn't actually more expensive now in 2024 than a $52 game was in 2014, even though the price looks higher. (And a game that costs $60 today was worth $45 in 2014.)

I'd argue the main offenders of the past few years are lm2hd and likely gonna also be dkcrhd, mario rpg and ttyd were remakes, and mpr is a remaster, borderline remake for 50 dollars Canadian, so those three are high effort
I AM FURIOUS A THE PRICES! WHO'S WITH ME THAT PORTS DESERVE TO BE $40?!?
Depends on the port. If you have a rare game from a gamecube like Kirby Air Rode and port it to the Switch, but have it updated for Online play, bonus mechanics amd having to pay the programmers who have to take the original game, completely rework it for another system and put it out in a high quality setting, then 50 isn't that much to ask for.
But 70 is a lot, even of you consider the whole inflation of the dollar bill, making things that are 70 bucks now, probably around 40-50 about 5-10 or so years prior.
@wolfzend5964 yes, if something like kirby air ride, a great kirby game that people love, 60 bucks is fine, but dude, Nintendo, 60 bucks for Dk? I might get it because the better controls and the extra levels from 3ds but still, bruh, too pricey. BUT, I stand to say captain toad was worth it.

@@Nintenguin to be fair, I think Super Mario Journey or Mario Kart X would be a perfect launch title for Switch 2.
I don’t think a remake being full priced is a bad thing IF the game is big/upgraded enough to warrant it.
Donkey Kong Country Returns I could understand being $60 because it’s a full-scale adventure with multiple worlds and hours upon hours of playtime (even if the graphics are exactly an upgrade)
Luigi’s mansion 2 however, while I like the game, it doesn’t have enough to warrant a full price tag and instead should be half.
Just don’t regret the investmest…
I’m telling you!!
What do you mean? DKCR HD is just the original game with combined content from 3DS game. The graphics are a little touched up, like added fur for the models, but that's basically it. That's not worth $60. At least LM2HD has upgraded textures and models. They took older models and either put more polygons to them or totally reworked them. It's still very much the same game, but at least the devs had to work a little for that game.
@@Finnishmanni what I meant was, there was more content and the like in DKCR HD so I could UNDERSTAND the price tag. DKCR is ultimately a bigger game so $60 isn’t AS outlandish. I think we can agree that full price on ALL remakes is still BS though
Kirby's return to Dream Land DX is an example of a Wii port being worth $60 because they added so much to it. An overhauled cell-shaded artstyle that makes it look like a new game, new abilities, an entire mode rededicated to minigames and a new full epilogue after beating the game.

Just save your money for different games. We have Mario & Luigi Brothership and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, those games look amazing and will be much better single player games. and if you like multiplayer then Super Mario Party Jamboree is much better than a 2 player 2D platformer. it think the prices for n-switch games where, to my eyes, ALWAYS to much. here in canada, games like mario 3d world are 79.99 dollars + taxes. so almost 100$ for one game. sure, a lot of those games are good and all, but 100$ for only one game. and that also goes for the remasters. luigi's mansion 2 on the switch, 100$. dk country returns on the switch, 100$. and i already have those games and can perfeclty play theme again. heck, my parents played dk on the wii, i can probably bye it and play with them- oh right! THE CONTROLLERS ARE UNUSABLE ACORDING TO MY PARENTS! so yeah, remaster=50$ OR LESS. not the price of a new game like the future mario and luigi brothership.
Nin10doland: Why is Super Mario 3D All-Stars $60? That is so overpriced for a port!
Me who bought it for $80: Bruh, Super Mario sunshine itself costs $60 not including the $20-ish dollars for Mario galaxy and the $30-ish dollars for Super Mario 64 (BTW I bought 3D all-stars sealed this year) and I like the portability for playing those games. IDK why you are complaining so much about that.
Spoiler alert: They can't be stopped.
Cheems Nintendo: I remaster games with no new things and almost same graphics for 60$
Doge Sega: Im gonna remaster a game with nothing changed and add a whole new game and new collectibles for 40$
SKYWARD SWORD WAS AN HD PORT TOO ITS LITERALLY IN THE NAME OH MY GOSH THEY ARENT REMASTERS WTF HOW COULD PEOPLE BE THIS DUMB AND FOR THE 3D all starts collection it was 3 great games re released again what more do you want !?
Bro, why the complaining? It’s obvious since it’s a HD remake, it is gonna be $60. Also Nintendo always do these price tags when it comes to their first party games. Plus, it’s Donkey Kong. Before, people wanted a new Donkey Kong game for so long and we ultimately got this. They’re very likely gonna be a new Donkey Kong game for the next console. Depends on Retro Studios since they’ll gonna have to tackle Metroid Prime 4 first. Nin10doland, if you don’t want to get the game, then just don’t buy it. It’s NOT THAT HARD!
It honestly baffled me to see DKCR HD and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD at full price. They aren’t remakes, they’re ports with slightly enhanced graphics. Now compare that to TTYD’s remake. How are they the same price man.
What is with the stance that hundreds of hours of gameplay equals worth more money. I would rather play two hours of Streets of Rage 2 than 70 hours of Sword of Vermilion. Quality will always trump quantity any day. If you can get both like Zelda TOTK even better. That can't always happen though. If it did Nintendo would only be releasing 10 - 12 games the whole generation. I like variety too.
I think DKCRHD's reason for existing is because Retro Studios is busy with MP4, so they put out DKCRHD to hold over DK fans until they have time for a new DKC(also why i think DKCTF was put on switch) but its still wacky its at 60$
800th Like! Man, I'm very happy for you how well this video does! So many people would probably agree on Nintendo's current game prices being WAY too high for what's essentially just ports of older games! And I'm one of those people. It's one of my personal reasons for not buying a Switch.
My only issue is Nintendo Charging Full $60 for ports, not remasters, ports. A remaster I can understand at least if it looks handedly *better* than the original (like the metroid prime remaster) but a straight port? Nah, that's $40. Especially if it's a 3DS game or a much older game.
Your title baited my confirmation bias. I'm gonna come right out and admit it, I have not liked Nintendo much since the NGC/NDS. Their artificial scarcity tricks on the original Wii and Amiibos basically set it stone for me that they are not a good company. Their strong fight against game preservation and emulation even more. And the 30th anniversary of the Metroid series was even a fraction of half-assed.
Your arguments of the first half again kind of justifies why emulation kind of is a justified practice. Sometimes emulators even manage to improve on the graphics through filters they add themselves. Nintendo giving out downgrades for a game that has been out for ages? This not only makes piracy moral, but even justified in my opinion. Not all piracy has to be a bad thing, and some people who used to hang strongly to copyright have changed their mind on it too. Since the spread of their materials could even work in their benefit and have people who think their materials worthwhile even pay for it and future releases.
I'm not going to say people should mass pirate, but Nintendo gives me more motivation to consider it instead of buying their stuff. People should remember that their choice to buy stuff is participating in a reinforced learning process. People should reward good behavior and punish the bad behavior. 'Vote with your wallet'. And it's the fans who lack self-respect that rewards Nintendo with their money, for applying bad practice behaviors and bad releases. Every dollar spent on rewarding their bad behavior, encourages them to become worse.
For me, Nintendo and it's fanbase became a niche and a shell of it's former glory. The only thing that remains with them is their attempts to innovate.
i just really think that either nintendo became greedy again or that these ports gotta be obscure to get an high price. Besides that, i think nintendo would do 40 to 60 dollars depending on the game. Pikmin was 50 dollars because it was a bit obscure, like i mean, yeah, it did gain a bit of popularity during the Pikmin 3 - Deluxe games, but you could blame me that pikmin is priced than metroid for absolutley no reason, should'nt it be 40 to if metroid is more well known or something? besides all of that wall of text, we can't wait what nintendo is cooking for. Hopefully...
Nintendo shouldn't call this Donkey Kong country returns HD. This should be called Donkey Kong country returns SD
I see why you're upset with the Retro Studios DKC remasters, but at both of the game's core, it's still an amazing game that some people haven't played or enjoyed. I've had over 1300 hours in both current versions of dkc returns but im still going to get the switch version when it launches because my friends will have access to it for the first time and i will play it with them to have a different experience than before.
