Thank you for your comment! I think that is so very interesting that you share the Preauricular pit/cyst with two other members of your immediate family! I've heard it said people with this hole are very intelligent! LOL. After seeing some of your videos, I agree!
I have one on each ear, am 44 and have never had an infection in either. A great-aunt (who lived to her late 80s) had them too. I always liked them because they're special.
Yes, I have one also. They are genetic and my dad also has one. Search on RUclips as they do have a video on it showing where it comes from, which is in utero your ear does not finish forming, and how ir can get infected. So far (knock on wood) mine just leaks a smelly discharge. The correct way of getting rid of it (which is also in the video) is to shoot dye in it and then dig all the dye colored skin out and seal up the skin.
@ogapadoga2--depending on your age, since they develop in hydro by two fold not fusing when we are embryos, they usually start like a little straw going straight down parallel to your ear. The longer they're there, the more chance they have to branch out and literally become entangled in your nerves and all over your face. If they can't remove it all, where the heck is it supposed to drain to? They use a blue dye.to try and make sure they get it all, and most of the time they're successful, but
I have one on my right side, though its painless and never bleeds. Its swollen up 3 times over 10 years, I just pop it and it goes away and doesnt come back for about 3 years. The stuff that comes out is really nasty and stinky, and nearly made me vomit. I read that if you get them surgically removed, it can increase the rate at which they recur, and with how harmless they are I just disinfect + squeeze it it fills up.
@tfoston My daughters test went very well! No surgery needed. We just went to the Health store and boost up her immune sytem and all is well now! I've never had a problem knock on wood!
@jonny12359 I have one abov my right ear, as does my daughter. I also experience the bad smelling fluid that comes out of it. I have found that when my sinus starts to drain my "pit" gets that fluid in it and I can press below the hole and force the fluid out. This usually makes me feel much better. I've also heard it called spirit eye and yes, I too have visions and premonitions that are chillingly accurate.
I have one on each ear. I'm getting surgery to remove the right one because It's gottan infected 4 times in the last month and a half. They happened while I was in the womb. They're genetic and are just the result of something not fusing correctly when we were being formed! They also suck! Lol.
My son (8) has one - it used to have just some drainage, but then it got worse - he picked up MRSA from somewhere and ended up with a MRSA filled boil instead of just a cyst - several re-occurrences later, we have appointments lined up to treat the MRSA at the infectious diseases department of a very good children's hospital, and then we're going to surgery... poor kid... :(
I have one on each ear, I'm 13 years old. My mom would always squeeze the pus out of it when I was little. Now, nothing happens it's just there but I think I have a sinus problem, when I swallow I something happens, I can't explain it though. That doesn't occur all the time though, usually when I have a cold.
i have one on my left ear.. it is now infected and i'm so worried about it. i consulted almost three doctors but still, even if they did give me the medicines, it did;nt went so well., i think i'll have my operation a week after.. :( pray for me..thanks
I have one. it itches and i have to squeeze it to remove the liquid about 3-4 times a week. i try to do that in the shower. when i was a kid, i put something in it and it became infected and the liquid we extremly bad. i dont do that anymore. ;c) i'm in my 50's and i met only one other person who has one and his was on his arm.

@quikflow I believe your right! I have one on one ear, and my daughter has one on each ear. Thank you for your comment.
i have one on my left ear. i've never really had a problem with it until the past few days. it's even started to bleed now.
I have on on my right ear. It does get annoying at times but I've lived with it for 16 years now and I'm fine :)
I have one on both ear! :O
My daughter does as well, on both sides.

Does anyone know where the preauricular pit leads to?

Hmmm, thank you for sharing.
i Know what you mean, I have one and my daughter has one on each ear! Thank you for commenting!
I have 2 and it gets itchy not infected
I'm happy for the mild itchy-ness and no infections as well.

Pray all is well and he grew out of the infections.
