  • This is an arrangement of 3 modern rhumba pop songs; Nakufa by Okello Max, Bensoul and Amylyoto, Rhumba Japani by Sol Generation, and Nairobi by The Sol Generation.
“Nakufa” is a love song. In the song, the singer uses charming and poetic lines to try and convince or rather woo the girl of her dreams. The song is in both Luo and Swahili dialects. We hear the Okello saying, 'Sheri kimula mimi nakufa' which loosely translates to, I nearly die any time I set my eyes on you. We also hear ' A yie idho gode mond aketie kuon e mesa' which means I will traverse beyond all hills and valleys to bring food.
The second song is Rhumba Japani. It is partially a political and revolutionary song. The seasoned authors use metaphors and imagery to try and shed light on some atrocious and erroneous acts seen to be happening in our country, comparing them to an ideal situation where things are supposed to be done right. The name Rhumba Japani comes from a band that 'Sauti Sol' used to look up to. The band itself was called 'Rhumba Japan'. It also sheds light on the Nairobi daily life and the lifestyle of different social strata in Nairobi. The song is purely in Swahili and Sheng'. In the last verse, the authors skillfully paint a picture whereby a revolution is in place and the citizens have turned the tables on the government.
The third song is 'Nairobi' by Sol Generation as well. Nairobi in a nutshell, talks about the 'rigged' dating scene in Nairobi. As the street saying goes, 'Nairobi is one small bedroom' 'Nairobi ' the song puts this saying into focal perspective.
This medley is skillfully crafted by Magana V.M who is a skilled disk jockey as well. He infuses his disk jockeying into choral music and puts forth this masterpiece. The soloists of the song are Paul Njagi & Mugoya Muringe and conducted by Magana Victor
