The music paints this as the final act of a tragedy. A tragedy between two brothers, ending in only death. It perfectly gives off the intended vibe, and I render this cutscene worthy of cataloging in the Librarium.

Beware Gabriel Angelos and his Daemon Commissar Bolt pistol, gifted by the Inquisition it juts looks like a plasma pistol, but when it warps into its ethereal bolt pistol form you know some traitors gonna get wrecked!
Heh, I remember how my next door neighbor came up with an pirated copy of vanilla DoW (coz back then we were kinda poor) and said "yo kid, play this shit" and I was "o-okay", and it was great. :D
Fun fact: the Bolt Pistol used to end Isador's life was dubbed the "Left Hand of Gabriel", and it can be acquired as a reward in Dawn of War 2. Its description and name references this particular scene.
But... The Bolt Pistol's in his right hand, so shouldn't it be-... You know what, never mind... I'd be executed as a heretic for questioning the nomenclature of a Space Marine's weapon...
I always thought it was very interesting that they actually had a character model of Isador with defaced chapter livery. Considering Relic's fondness for re-using assets, the fact that it wasn't repeatedly re-used is surprising.
i nearly cried watching this because it was a more emotional cinematic than in any other DOW game or Space marine itself. i wish more emotion was put into these cinematics

Probably my favorite cut scene from a game. It sent chills down my spine the first time. I can only imagine how much better it would be with a proper cinematic to go with it. Just shows the importance of hiring a decent voice actor.
This game introduced me to 40K. I was 18 when i first played it (almost 28 now). I've never been into RTS Campaigns, but by The Emperor the voice acting and the envirorments, combined to how different it feels to have factions mixed between fantasy and sci-fi simply made me fall in love with the IP. Till this day, 40K is and will always be my favourite sci-fi universe, and DoW 1 my favourite RTS campaign of all time.
This moment is very remiscient of the "You were my brother Anakin" scene from the prequels. A tale of two brothers pitted against eachother due to one being tempted away from righteousness, and the other painstaking having to put his once-friend down.
So much emotional content here, it really is amazing. This makes me want to read the Horus Heresy novels now since I've seen so much talk about it being so awesome.
It is awesome. Start with Horus Rising, and the trilogy that follows, Fulgrim, The First Heretic, Betrayer, and any others that seem interesting to you, they really are amazing novels.
Argel Tal Well, I've actually already read Legion, but I must I was very disappointed with it. Not because of the writing or story, but because of the climax being done quite bad. Thanks, I'll take your recommendation, and read Horus Rising. I'd like to get to know more about the Horus Heresy rather than relying on just Lexicanum or the 40k wiki.
Ya I didn't really enjoy Legion, the only saving grace of it was the ending but it didn't make up for boring novel that it was (and confusing) If you ever are interested in novels post heresy i would recommend the Night Lord novels by Aaron Dembski Bowden among the others. Im just guessing you like Chaos from your pic xD
Argel Tal The meeting with the Cabal and the vision for the Primarchs was very disappointing. I was hope that the novel would go into detail with the meeting unlike Lexicanum, but it didn't at all. It made the final showdown between those two former friends all the more tragic but it also made Gabriel's regaining his confidence even better as he finally cleared away his internal doubts and stated that he had to do what he did on Cyrene to end the suffering of those he loved and to ensure that Humanity as a whole would live on.

Pretty deep scene when it comes to the old Chaos VS Imperium deal. Both do have their points. Isador's thoughts on the Exterminatus cannot just be hand waved away. But Gabriel's determination almost makes one think that the Imperium might be right after all. But I guess the point of 40k is that no one is truly right or wrong.
