When doing other quests (盾蟹の衝撃【上位】 AND 盾蟹の衝撃【変種】 in this case) you'll have a SMALL % to have this black reia invade it.
Normally, on those 2 quests, you spawn randomly in desert, during the day.
In the case reia is there, your whole PT will spawn in BC, and it'll be night.
A little difference between those 2 quests though. If reia invades:
盾蟹の衝撃【上位】 ＞ It'll be Repel only
盾蟹の衝撃【変種】 ＞ It'll be Kill only, SubA: Make enough dmg, SubB: Cut tail
This is the only way to fight this new reia subspecies (even though i doubt it is a sub, since she has moves coming from many different other monsters, like guren :p)
Breakin parts / Cutting tail is VERY hard, and i think after every break she gets stronger (more dmg and faster i think?)
There arent many infos about it yet.
Me, Tofu and 2 other guys fighting this.

Confirmed so far:
- プーギー大全・黒白青紫桜 (HR51 Pugi Cuff Quest)
- 鉱脈を呼ぶ秘法？ (HR31 Aminotaito Quest, Kill 1 chachabu)
- 大自然の声を聴け【森林】 (HR100 Quest, Kill 40 Hornets - personally tested ^^)
Looks like, for now, she can appear on these quests only.
Also, these are Frontier quests, so they change weekly :p
Edit2: Sooo looks like she can actually appear on ANY HighRank quest taking place in the areas where this reia can be, which are the followings:
森丘 (FnH), 砂漠 (Desert), 密林 (Jungle), 樹海 (Sea of trees), 峡谷 (Canyon)

PS: Many of you have been wondering what that giant beam you can see around 4:00 is, sooo heres a lil explanation:
It's called 排熱噴射機構 (Heat injection mechanism). It's something you can apply to Gou (Made from HR100 Elders/Gou Mobs) HeavyBowGuns.
Basically you get a bar, which slowly fills when you shoot regular bullets (any, but depending on the type the bar will fill fastly/slowly). Once it's full you can shoot that beam :p It's continuous dmg until it finishes. Also, there are some oils you can use to make the bar longer/shorter, which means the beam will last longer/less, but it also will take more/less time to fill the bar.
The beam doesnt make a particular element's dmg, its pretty much like bombs, so it makes A LOT of dmg on any type of monster ^^

@DJFlare84 yessir there is such a thing i dont think thats the name of it but i know like it charges slowly and then u can fire it and hold down the button and its consistent damage
You thought that they couldn't have made Rathian even more beautiful then they came out with this sub and they just invented a whole new level of beauty.
Frontier has to come to Europe and America, this just looks so awesome!!!

even though this new rathian appears kind of like an event quest, there will eventually be stuff made entirely for rathian, so keep your heads up lol ^^

It seems we can also find her on permanent quest. We fighted her today on hr 31 classical paria while farming some pelt, unfortunatly, with free assist course, it was to fast ;(.

they should make pure white rathalos with wings tipped with a light blue and his fire balls are black aswell. then they could make a mission called ying and yang or the wings of angels and demons. or something.
第1形態の時点では動きも遅いし隙も多いから弱いけど（ただし攻撃力はこの時点でもすでにそこそこ高い）
第3形態あたりから結構好きも少なくなって攻撃力も高いんだよな・・
So what's the story behind this ian? Does the quest give any background on why this Rathian's colored the way it is and why's its roaming the desert?
@interbopping Sorry to dissapoint but it won't simply for 2 facts. 1) Capcom tried this with Japan (Bad Move) and it flunked and 2) Its all based on western sales, which in total are no where near consideration for capcom servers. Capcom JP are also slightly fanboyish towards the PS3 and sony so thats why MHp3HD will be released for PS3 in the western areas. Sorry, would have made me buy an xbox again but I was dissapointed.
As of yet no form of Frontier for us :/
@franciscocordera i wish that could happen.. but i dont think so, frontier was and will probably always be a korea exclusive monster hunter. however, they are releasing it on the xbox 360 so there is always a chance that it will come out to the rest of the world.
@FlashBander The business world sucks. They create the most fun stuff ever, but never spread it around, because a minority elsewhere may like it as opposed to the majority. The Business world is the most unfun world ever. xD Ironic.

@FlashBander I apologize for making that assumption. But still, it's not as popular as it could be outside of Japan. It stands a better chance in Europe than the US, I think. XP I dunno if there are as many easy-FPS lovers in Europe as America.
@zygard2233 at the moment no and seems that dosnt have any plans for translation so you have to options just watch all youtube vids or play the rip off called hunter blade

@FlashBander Because if it doesn't get killed in 1-2 shots from an assault rifle, Americans won't like it. I hope that at some point they do what they did with Hypnocatrice in MHFU and bring it over. Rathian's a favorite monster of mine, so seeing her this strong...

@xxOnyxWeaponxx Me too... I like how in Monster Hunter, there is NO trade between players unless the Item is below Rarity Lvl. 4. If they were to release the game in the U.S or Europe, I'd pray they'd have extremely strict mods, that will take down any cheaters. But, who the hell am I kidding? MHFO will come out in the rest of the world when pigs fly out of a monkey's ass while it rains money during a time of world peace...

Ok noobish question considering ive been playing since monster hunter freedom 1. Even though this is in the pc can this be played using a controller say a pc one or an xbox or ps3 controller?

@sasukexx I thought I was the only mad about all the price gouging capcom does with multipl versions of the same game and DLC Monster Hunter is one of the few Capcom games I genuinely like these days. I do like fighters don't get me wrong and own some of the capcom ones but to give you an idea on how much I trust capcom I didn't buy MvC2 til last year to make sure there wouldn't be another version. any others were gifts or credit i just wanted to use on something.
Why in Fckin' hell, do all those frickin', amazing, über, ultra awesome monsters only come out on mh-games that don't come out worldwide? :(

各種弾を撃つことで発射熱を蓄積・一定値まで溜めることで発射できます
撃てば撃つほどその威力は強化され見た目もでかく派手になりますな…

Sh-sh-sh-she's turned into a demon! I shall call this fearsome subspecies: The Onyx Rathian, because her shell is onyx black... But her claws and tail spikes are crimson red... And when she fires her lazer, the beam and blasts are blue... Argh... Whatever, this new Rathian is scary... It just sucks that I'll never be able to fight it...
this thing has attacks of other monsters too. that fart looks like gravios and uragaan.

Wow, this PROVES tah Rathian is more dangerous than Rathalos. Thatis unless a Rathalos Subspecies appears.
Now I want this game so much more.... SO LAME I am in the process of learning japanese so hopefully I can get this game soon :P
@delico140 Its a new move, unlocked with SR100+ dual swords.
SR is a new type of levels unlocked at HR500+, which allows you to pick a new (& usually stronger) move, which replaces one of the old one. At sr100 you can unlock a second one.
the backflip gets the place of the unsheathing move.
i dont really like it, cos the only good thing about the backflip is that it lets u hit higher spots, but its slower, and less powerful, than the regular unsheathing move :p

@UzumakiKun , no the white smoke merely lowers your defence and blows you back. But considering the god-like powers of this "Dark Rathian" , that's probably a death sentence.
