10 years in the US Army Infantry and we did many of the "cool-looking" things shown in ads. However, ads never show the hundreds of hours doing busy work or waiting for someone else to do their job, before you can do yours
Have them react to the other US military service branches' (US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Coast Guard, US Space Force) recruitment advertisements! I'm curious to which service branch appeals to them if they had the opportunity to join.
I don't know man... those animated army ads they rolled out a couple months ago were kind of ass. But as far as I'm aware, all the other branches ads, like the marines or airforce, are still pretty damn good

I always found these types of recruitment ads hilarious. When you get there, it’s nothing like what’s depicted in these ads. Case in point, I served in the US Navy for 6 years m, and at one point, a ship we were deployed with, made their own version of the ad. It featured the same bad ass music, with footage of sailors swabbing decks, cleaning their berthing (the area on the ship were we sleep) scrubbing toilets…it was very inspiring haha

It's important to remember that for Japan it's not a "military". It's the JDSF, it's a self defense force. It's primarily been used as a rescue and service organization more than a combat organization. They can fight, I've trained with them, but they aren't trying to get people in for that purpose.
Yeah, the "military" and the "patriotism through the military" is still controversial in Japan. It's even important that the constitution of Japan emphasize against the military. Yeah, you're right. They try to instill this image on purpose. Though I heard they're trying to change the constitution to change this image.

That banned on having military were put by the post-war Japanese government who try demonstrate that Japan truly change and gain the world's trust. In reality this upset US, US want the Japan to establish a new military after they dismantled the Imperial Japanese Army. Showing a US Marine ad was a good choice. As President Harry Truman said in 1949 about Marine advertisement and recruitment methods "They have a propaganda machine that is almost equal to Stalin's". But please show the other service branches. Also show other militaries from around the world as well.

I thought the U.S. one showed more of a balance and if the Russian and Chinese one could show more balance, they would be good too.

Cool concept only downfall in the line up is the fact that Japan was in it. As they don't "really" have an army (as a result of WWII) is pointless to include. They are only a defense unit (within it's own border) and peacekeeper unit within the UN; any and all outside military (offensive or retaliatory is obsolete as the US military takes care of that as per the 9th article of the Japanese constitution).
Aptitude Test (IQ test) is one of the most important advantages of US army. It ensures that US army is much smarter than most armies in the world. This also increases your chances of survival significantly, as a soldier, because there is a very high chance that your life is in the hands of even smarter officers. It is complete opposite of Russian/Soviet army, which always treated their solders as cheap disposable meat in all wars.

It's a wonderful option for many but the majority of us know very little about the military or are even interested in it.Especially people in your age group, most are anti war.
I know an Afghan and a Nepalese who earned US citizenship by joining the US army and serving. They might have something like that for these guys, who knows.
You don't earn citizenship by serving in the US military. You still have to do what everyone else has to do to become a citizen. The only benefit they probably got out of it was that the rules state that you have to reside in the US for a certain amount of time to qualify to be a citizen. Normally people do that by applying for a particular visa which is hard to do and even harder to keep for the required time. It's much easier to get the requirement by joining the US military because they won't say no and you can stay easily for a much longer time while your citizenship papers process.....which takes years.
Hope they didn't choose US just bcuz they know majority of viewers here are Americans. Personally, I'd rather an honest opinion in every vdo, hopefully they don't feel the need to sugarcoat their views bcuz of the audience

Japan has no army, but the self-defense force, and by law they are not allowed to attack other countries, and their main job is to rescue people in times of disaster, so the video does not encourage people to go to war like other countries do. I think this video makes sense since the focus is on protecting the people rather than fighting them. Another reason is that most Japanese people are anti-war, so if army recruitment ads were shown on TV like in other countries, there would be many complaints.
there are a couple of chinese dramas that effectively function as great recruiting ads- ACE Troops is one, and The Glory of Youth which is all about the rocket army (and I believe it's sponsored by the Army, if not fully paid for by them.) Great stories but really promote patriotism amd make the military look attractive. I enjoyed them just as dramas.
The guys just did a lot of work for US recruiters! Keep them coming. I would go to sea with you guys as a former US sailor. You seem loyal and like you don't sweat the small stuff. I would like to see you do one on the Navy and what the food is like underway sometime
I get why people are calling many of the Army ads lately "woke" but I think woke is wrong here. IMO people need to think about it a bit differently. The Army is the 'general purpose' military force. As an all volunteer force they have to, or try to, appeal to ALL types of people in the US. They are trying to show inclusion and that can come off as "woke". You also have to consider who the military is trying to recruit these days. Guns, explosions, and badassary is what appealed and drew in millennials but the military isn't trying to recruit millennials anymore. We're starting to get too old/we're now well outside the 18-25 year age group that is predominately recruited from while the oldest from the Gen. Z group are about to start turning 25. And it's obvious from the ads that the Army is targeting those 18-25 Gen. Z'ers.

there are a couple of chinese dramas that effectively function as great recruiting ads- ACE Troops is one, and The Glory of Youth which is all about the rocket army (and I believe it's sponsored by the Army, if not fully paid for by them.) Great stories but really promote patriotism amd make the military look attractive. I enjoyed them just as dramas.

The guys just did a lot of work for US recruiters! Keep them coming. I would go to sea with you guys as a former US sailor. You seem loyal and like you don't sweat the small stuff. I would like to see you do one on the Navy and what the food is like underway sometime

I get why people are calling many of the Army ads lately "woke" but I think woke is wrong here. IMO people need to think about it a bit differently. The Army is the 'general purpose' military force. As an all volunteer force they have to, or try to, appeal to ALL types of people in the US. They are trying to show inclusion and that can come off as "woke". You also have to consider who the military is trying to recruit these days. Guns, explosions, and badassary is what appealed and drew in millennials but the military isn't trying to recruit millennials anymore. We're starting to get too old/we're now well outside the 18-25 year age group that is predominately recruited from while the oldest from the Gen. Z group are about to start turning 25. And it's obvious from the ads that the Army is targeting those 18-25 Gen. Z'ers.
