Also just to add. Control over your desires also means you learn yes you can lose to win. And give up your want to lose your dissapointment but you can also head towards your desire without desiring it. Just acting and behaving in ways necessary to take steps towards it but stay neutral on the results of that effort

Yeah, Gautama Buddha was supposedly a prince, so... Mentally what he says makes sense because you're wasting energy on 'what ifs'. But if the crops fail and they can't provide for their family Buddha's smile didn't help much either.
All desires are interconnected wtih the fear of suffering, and this duality is because of the need for surivival, survival of the false self, the I, end that false self, and all suffering will end, bliss will be the result

Eg the farmer worries he has no water for his crops then dig well and water them yourself Maybe that’s why westerners have invented most things we enjoy today

Sorry idk what my previous comment was about, But basic necessities aren't desires but rather sustenance in helping you, keeping it enough for essentials are what it means, not desiring over luxurious stuff and keeping balance by only having what is necessary
My desire is spent a lovely.life with my fiance after marriage Because of that i overthinking Leading to negative thoughts and mistrust... I need to control my desire and have patience Anyway I will be marrying love of my life I don't know, why I'm worrying

Strictly speaking, the farmer's worry can't be classified as a desire. So, I doubt whether this story is really from Buddhist scripture.🤔
According to Buddha; There is no creator God. Refer to Agganniya sutra for comprehensive description.
