My parents had a diamante wagon back when I was a kid. It was an incredible car, and my mom always told me it drove like a dream. It had a premium Bose sound system that I still remember sounding incredible and the rear was so big we'd go to the drive in and fit my parents, younger sister and I comfortably laying in the back. Unfortunately the transmission started acting up and because there were no parts available to fix it they ended up scrapping it. That was a very emotional day. My mom still mentions that car from time to time and how much she misses it.

I had a 97 Montero sport few years ago and I had to get a new tail light assembly. Not a single junk yard within a 100 miles had a Montero sport. I ended up soldering the brake light bulb directly to the wiring harness. When that bulb died I sent it to a junk yard where I'm sure it was crushed. Loved that thing but it had too many issues too be worth keeping.

These cars used be very common in Australia back in the day , the Diamante was known as the Mitsubishi Verada. They had a more stripped doen version which they mainly sold to fleets called the Magna executive (still had wind up windows until the early 2000's) then they had the Magna glx , which by '02-'03 had standard power windows . The Diamante was the spec equivalent of a Buick for the USA. We also got wagon version's of the base model & Diamante model.

What a weird window, too big for the interior of the door.... Though that door looks so much easier to work on than 3rd gen Saturns, you have to pull out the metal rods connected to the lock and door handle (through tiny little spaces from flexing the rods) just to pull the inside door panel. But hey, I can make my Saturn shake with factory speakers with an old Pioneer head unit - didn't want to suffer the front door panels again after my first one was totaled by a flood. Got 90% of the benefit from just changing the head unit, and lost no blood to the car.

Older Japanese cars would roll their windows down like that so they wouldn't need a small quarter window. LS400s are famous for this

There may be a community college in the area that teaches auto repair and painting. Perhaps you and AAR could donate the car. Students can do the work needed ( body work, welding, paint, upholstery). Just a thought.

Your killing me smalls.... The big black rubber flap rear top of the door, pop that off and the glass slides in through that hole. You did it the hard way, but success none the less..3rd gen camaro same way if you come across one. Just need to pull the top stops. good job though.

I’ll pick her up this week sir :) $250 right? She does look 100x better. I was going to just blow it up but now you have me wanting to take my time repairing it.

It would be a good car to give to a family in need; it might be old, but it runs and drives reliably.

Had these cars for yonks in Australia. Was known as the Magna and 380 before Mitsubishi pulled the plug on local manufacturing. My dad had a 94 and a 01. No one looks after these things unfortunately.

Sounds like you pretty much have the same issue I ran into... I had a Saturn Astra and after it was rear ended in late 2015 discovered parts are basically impossible to source.
