Calm is important. My dog is calm all the time, except when I leave the house... panic. She is 4, and very low energy calm, well behaved. And she never sleeps with me. In her own bed, two beds in the house. But we can't leave her ..she will cry and panic... for hours. . My last dog was not like this so not sure how to break this. .

I often chill/hang out side with my dog whether we went for a walk or not. Question:
Do you mean no more than 1hr at a time? Or 1hr combined? I feel like I take my dog out several times but I don’t know how long we actually walk. I just let her sniff and such/take her time. I wish I had more chances for her to be off leash though (so she could run).

An hour of overall exercise session is more than enough for any dog. You either do it in one take or divide the one hour into two 30 minute walks. As long as your dog gets the most of that one hour. It could be doing whatever it loves to do. IF it sniffing, if it is just fast walk, or playing with other dogs...Don't worry about off leashing if you feel your dog is not ready to be of -leashed. If you can find a park or an area that is safe and fenced, you can let it run off leash or you can attach a long leash or rope to walk almost off-leash. Do your best and your dog will love you anyways.

Spot on! I go to dog park for 30 min and see the same dogs there before I got there and still there when I leave. I listened to blogs yesterday and really enjoyed. Thank you🙏🏽

I felt bad for my dog for not walking her as much, she's been very nice and not destructive. I let her run in the dog park at my apartment complex and she later tore up her bed, she hasn't done this since was a puppy and had separation anxiety. I think your answer makes sense in this scenario, she got to much excersise and got destructive

Finding out the right amount of mental and physical stimulation for each dog is the answer.

When they are active at home, you think they are still full of energie. But they are not! This is a real eye opener. Thanks:)
