Jesus Christ I am a certified diver and this is one of the first times I felt unease at watching a diving video. 0 visibility, surrounded by all means of sharp garbage in water more polluted than hell. Kudos to you guys, this isn’t easy at all.
Yeah, you gotta get all sorts of shots after diving this area. There is another area a hundred times worse though: Off Harlem. The Humboldt Kill, aka the Cloaca Maxima. If you dive there you ARE going to find bodies, guns and maybe a brick or heroin.
Yeah my cousin was an oil rig worker. I assume he had to be a decent swimmer to work out on a rig, but he drowned in the Hudson when he was mentally ill we think. I’ve always wondered how he didn’t survive.
As a former commercial diver in NYC I can attest to the crap you find under water around the city. I once got stuck in fishing line wrapped around a shopping cart and had to surface by being pulled up by my tender by the umbilical (surface air, helmet) with the shopping cart attached to me haha. Good stuff friend
@@yishihara55527 not so bad now. Once they started cleaning up the toxins dumped up river by the electrical company it got much better; blue crabs came back, mussels, all kinds of fish

Awesome video! I am a native New Yorker and I live in the East Village next to the East River and I'm also a certified diver. I met you once years ago at the BTS Dive expo. You had a booth there with your buddies displaying some of the stuff you found. I really want you to find those bones. There is a lot of recent junk down there and the tusks can be under all that. It is so cool to see you and your lady see the Statue of Liberty and visit New York. "Once in a lifetime opportunity." That was a heart of appreciation.
You are amazing Jake! Don’t ever apologize for your emotions. You are an incredible diver and you deserve everything that comes to you. You have a great heart. Much love from Canada.

I’m not even kidding when I say this….I said goodbye to my father right around 63rd and the East River railing…July 2019. I was actually cheering you on towards the end saying come on Jake lol this was awesome I really thought being a native new Yorker that you would of found a human body or a bunch of guns in the east river thanks for sharing this adventure with us your amazing guys
You and your friends, family or so amazing helping keep the waters clean. When ever you find something suspicious you call the police officer to come and look. I love you guys so much dig fan❤❤❤
The fact that you went IN that water absolutely amazes me. Being from that area I would freak if I fell in the Hudson or East River. Do you realize the East River is one of the most polluted bodies of water in the world??? What’s more, this sewage sets loose a common sewer bacteria called enterococci, which causes many different kinds of infections in humans and other animals with which it comes into contact. And,for about 48 hours after a super heavy rainfall, it is teeming with this bacteria. You should keep your head above water (and mouth closed) at all times to reduce direct exposure to parasites, bacteria, blue-green algae, and other microorganisms that could potentially pose a threat to your health. Factories along the river have polluted it in the past by discharging polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) causing a range of harmful effects to wildlife and people who eat fish from the river. Other kinds of pollution, including mercury contamination and cities discharging untreated sewage, have also caused problems in the river. In the 80’s it was dubbed the “Syringe River”.
Your fingers locking up remind me of the deadliest catch ailment that is referred to as the crab claw, if I remember it basically means that you can barely move your fingers to the point that you can’t even make a fist. Anyway love the videos and have been a fan for a long time. Keep up the great work and keep being yourself! You are an inspiration for all your progress in your videos in the last few years 🎉🎉. Have a great 2023 and hears to more discoveries in the future!
Speaking of tides...Have you ever wondered, IF the MOON is what causes tides,....WHY don't they occur on local bodies of water, such as lakes and ponds....!? The Moon is insignificant when it comes to smaller bodies of water!? Something stinks, and it ain't the fish (or Jake)! Can't tell you how much I respect you and the care you keep in your heart for others. Absolutely amazing! -Think for yourself. Question everything!

😅
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE to finally dive in over there
Speaking of tides...Have you ever wondered, IF the MOON is what causes tides,....WHY don't they occur on local bodies of water, such as lakes and ponds....!? The Moon is insignificant when it comes to smaller bodies of water!? Something stinks, and it ain't the fish (or Jake)!
Can't tell you how much I respect you and the care you keep in your heart for others. Absolutely amazing!
-Think for yourself. Question everything!
