nope.. you can use all purpose flour too. self raising flour good too

Banana makes it moist
Banana is mostly water while almonds are 50% fat. Cakes get their moistness from both.

Recipe is nice but a bit sweet 50g sugar for 6 muffins added on withe sweetness from bananas and chocolate chips
