If the Attack Titan was in the MCU, then the "WHAT IF... ?" series wouldn't exist. I think this is why the Attack Titan has its time abilities. If Grisha hadn't killed the royals, then there's a huge chance he would have been eaten (either by Frieda or one of the sick fucks Rod calls his kids), and Eren would never have been given the Attack Titan. So there wouldn't have been anyone to manipulate Grisha in the first place. Therefore when this originally came to pass, albeit reluctantly, Grisha would had to have killed the royals of his own free will. I vaguely remember seeing atleast one theory, saying that the existence of the 9 titans and the paths, would probably be an incredible strain on the AOT timeline. So uncertain events in time, are now open to changing, i.e. Grisha deciding not to kill the royal family. This is where the Attack Titan comes in, i think it's the AT's job to go back and ensure that certain things go the way they originally went.
