I just read your interview on Bungie and followed the link to your videos. Outstanding means and methods and what seems to be a very patient attitude. Your way of teaching and explaining is very impressive and I thank you for your time to provide a video that is easy to learn from. I suck at the crucible but do regularly try to learn to be better. I look forward to watching all your videos and spreading the word about your channel. Thank you
Just wanted to say thanks. I never was the best sniper and relied upon Shotguns and Hand Cannons to do the job for me. I've watched your vids, been practicing and now am outsniping people, being smarter about it and just generally a much better sniper largely thanks to the foundations you lay in these vids. Thanks man, have a great day!
The growth between this content and what TV puts out now is like night and day. He's so much more engaging now that I feel like he could redo this series and it'll still take off!
This guide really helps me. I've been sniping for a while now, so zonning into head on aim is natural for me, but the other details have been extreamly helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to make this vid man. I'm an older gamer who has a love for gaming since the days of Tank Battle, Tempest, and Asteroids. My first gaming system was the NES, then it was on to Genesis, Super NES, Turbo Grafx 16, Jaguar, PlayStation, PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox, the 360, and now PS4. You get the picture. Games today have certainly evolved, and younger (and older) players with them! But I have a few different hobbies/talents. I don't get to game as much as I'd like to. Until lately, there were days between my gaming sessions. Since getting my PS4 this past Christmas, I have a renewed interest and I have a blast playing these newer games! BUT...I'm not in the same category as most other players. In playing Destiny, I have (unfortunately) come across some downright snobbish and A-Holey gamers. More not-so-nice ones than welcoming and helpful ones (sad but true). It almost makes me NOT want to play Destiny at times! So I'm trying to get better at it because I really enjoy the game. I won't dare step into The Crucible yet until I get better. I am at Level 40, and my light level is around 215. I know I need to bump that up a few for sure. I read about your helpful vids and now i have some renewed enthusiasm! Sorry for the 'novel'-and thanks again!
+Hj 2015nine Thanks so much for that-I appreciate it! I was practicing with a Scout Rifle most of the afternoon! Lol! I'll look you up on PSN, but my gamertag is different...
Dude I'm looking back at year one when everything was so op. Longbow has a literal 20 rounds with 6 in mag. 123 SYZYGY has 42!!! In the mag! 42!!! Just makes me remember how much more reliable weapons were in year 1
You are a saint among men, sir. Good advice, stated clearly, in a laid-back demeanor that's easy to listen to. Your tips about how to practice sighting in is what I was hoping to find, and I'm very happy to have actually found it. Thanks for posting this. :)
man i remember watching this back in the old days. It really did help me a lot, most of your videos helped me become really good at pvp. Before I watched you I always acted really timid but then i started to really get out there and use my mobility options (i main hunter) in order to get some insane plays. Thanks for that.
I want to thank you for all your support and help on this sniper videos you've been putting out they really helped me improve my game and I can really feel more confident in my sniper abilities keep up the good work and keep this it's coming because I like seeing your videos
If you like those high fire rate pulse rifles (i.e. 123 SYZYGY, Oversoul Edict), then you should give Praedyth's Timepiece with perfect balance a try. It's unreal in PvP.
Will Jo The Timepiece just has solid perks. I always run the first sight with perfect balance. You can get kills that you wouldn't believe with that accuracy. On top of that, the Secret Round perk is just SOOO GOOOOOOD. It's description is completely wrong. What it does is it returns one round to the magazine if you land all three shots from a burst, effectively boosting your magazine by 50%.
Michael Montes thanks for the extra tip, what do you think is the most effective range for the Timepiece? my Evergreen has ridiculous range so it wrecks in Shores of Time against snipers.
Michael Montes I honestly run with field scout usually on Timepiece. The recoil is so manageable mainly because it's straight up and down and not side to side.
Wow man, FANTASTIC video. I really appreciate your approach with not only giving the pointers for sniping but also pausing to commentate on the video. Like all the best teachers I had in school: learn as much by accident(along the way) as I do on purpose.
I played a lot of SWAT in Halo Reach, so I find that keeping my reticle head level is very natural to me, so I gave snipers a try, and with your tips i did really well with the VoC, a Low grade Humility w/ Unflinching, and teh Thandurl0rd. Great videos, keep em' up!
Hey Vanguard, I want to say thanks for uploading this tutorial for sniping In Year 1, I was around the semi-high rank of'Average' with sniping; especially in Trials... but now in TTK, I've gotten rather rusty and grew a little weak with my sniping potential. I'll try to get better in Sniping once more with your teachings. Hopefully, I'll regain what I had lost. Thanks again. :)
Excellent stuff! Been looking to brush up on my weaknesses in PvP, and this is definitely one of them. Fantastic guide, already seeing improvement in my game from it.
i was a really good shotgunner until i watched all of your videos on how to snipe. i have now been sniping for about a month now and i don't know why i ever shotgunned your videos help so much the thanks man.
Coming back to this video after playing Destiny 2 for the past few weeks and seeing your super energy skyrocket after just one kill is so jarring. I miss this Destiny a lot though. Good times :)
Just want to say a quick thanks man. Your tips and tricks have really helped me in my sniping game and in my over all play as well. Hope to one day see you in the wild that is the Crucible.
hey Vanguard, I just found out a great sniping tip for those playing on a big TV (which must be a lot of players). I tried switching on "game mode" and it actually feels like I'm playing a different game. So much more responsive! Now I know why I'm sometimes better at long flick shots than I am waiting for enemies to run into my crosshairs! Kind of crazy that I've been playing that way this whole time..
One the best tips on snipping I got was understanding where head level is on maps. (i know it can vary depending on jumping/crouching but it was a good started point) A tip someone told me to learn that was use your team mates to level up your scope. If you notice a friendly across map line up your sights with his head. Now (for the most part) you have a some what solid reference point. But as you said, stay mobile and always unstoppable to check radar.
True Vanguard These tutorials have really helped me improve my game. According to Destiny Tracker (PSN: KennyDoTT), I played 28 games last night, 7/30 to 7/31. 21 Wins, 7 Losses. 24 Positive K/DRs with 8 over 2.0. I was already a decent player, but the insight and fine tuning have made tremendous noticeable improvements. Chokepoint awareness, Field Practice, and Cover Awaerness have made a huge difference. These are just a few of the takeaways, but there's so much more that helped. These are excellent and well made videos. All around good, outstanding work. You have a new subscriber, sir. Please continue to make great videos. See you on the field.
Great video! I was also lucky enough to get the Longbow(mine has grenadere and final round and I love it compared to my LDR. It just shoots so smooth and its void so it'll replace my Paredyths Revenge. I enjoy sniping alot but I feel like I'm being forced to resort to a shotgun with most of the maps being chosen:/. P.S. I saw that live stream w/ you and Tinkkz. :) Very entertaining. You guyz seem like fun people to play with. I'm going to have to catch you on a subby stream so I can play with you one of these days.
I've been meaning to ask you to do a sniping tutorial for a long time, but I guess I wasn't the only one! Probably the most important tip you gave was to keep your sights aimed at head level. I haven't really practiced sniping in Destiny yet, but I've been wanting to break away from the shotgun crowd for a while, and this series should help a lot!
I completely agree with you about this. Though I use patience and time because I am very accurate, it would be nice to get those reviving guys with one shot. The reason I use p and t though is because it has a high rof and insane stability so I can get from one kill to the next really fast. But great video man
Is it only me or does everyone feel this way? Sometimes when using a sniper i rarely miss a shot, it feels so good, and sometimes i suck so badly that it feels so hard to get a kill. Im kinda good with a sniper overall but i wish if it was more consistent. Any thoughts on improving? Thanks
sometimes we feel more confident on maps we know better. playing a map we're not familiar with, or don't know all the sniping lanes on can throw us off of our game.
found this really helpful thanks! I found that its not just about having the best sniper that matters, but having the one that suits your play style and you find comfortable. for example I prefer the Hawkeye scope, which is better for shorter ranges because I find having too much zoom on a scope restricts your field of vision. anyway great tips thanks again!
Great video man! Good tips! Personally, my favorite sniper for the Crucible has always been The Supremacy from the Queen's Wrath event. If you have it, what do you think of it?
I have a longbow, though I haven't used it much. Gonna have to go look at the perks now! Haha Some good tips here for sure. And great clips. Two friendly critiques, because you asked for those in the past, verbage could have been more concise. It's ok to be dogmatic if you're doing a how-to video. And also, there was a weird echo on your commentary audio, I don't think it was the whole time, but there were at least two times it was very noticeable. Love your content though man! Looking forward to episode 2!
Keeping your scope aimed head-level is the best possible advice. The best practice is to play SWAT on Halo Reach. It forces you to always keep your rifle head level, and good habits carry over.
Hey it's JehuKing and thanks for the tutorial! Funny, I mentioned this in your stream but you clearly had this planned for a bit. Your tip about head level is great and I'll out it to use. Wanna get better at sniping.
Thanks for the Tutorial. Def am gonna use this to increase my skill. I'm starting with a Perfect Balance LDR5001. First 2 games I went 1.9 n 1.8 when I'm usually in the 1.2ish K/D range!
wow watching this about 9 months later and its so weird seeing where the crucible was at back then versus now... I miss how the snipers and fusions were but shotguns and especially those exotic handcannons were waaay too strong.
Bro, I just saw someone post a great idea on Mr.FruitsGamingChannel about doing a special dream team Iron Banner bets for next IB! The idea was to have you, KjHovey, and another well known player (it really doesn't matter who) to be special guests for the next IB bets! Anyways I thought this was a great idea much love bro!!!
When I practice my sniping, which is few and far between, I like to do it against enemies just because it helps acquire targets at different height levels, but I also enjoy practicing focusing on an object at head level
Another great vid. I grabbed the Longbow from the vendor since never dropped for me, and I don't regret it. Hey you mentioned denying the C objective, and map/spawn control is so important. I wonder if you could do a talk on how to play from the poor spawns and how/when to claim the ideal objectives when an opponent is defending well. When I'm soloing and having a hard time getting into the "good" spawn, I usually just end up trying to fight where I'm effective. But in those cases, even if I do manage to do well we usually lose the game.
I just wanna say that i use only shotguns in the crucible but thanks for this series because i intend on learning how to not miss every fucking shot in the crucible
Great vid! I've learned a lot about situational awareness by watching. Any other tips for learning to scope in near head level/minimize target acquisition? You mention it's the most important skill, so I'm curious what methods you'd recommend.
my favorite way was sacrificing my KD, by running nlb, and a sniper of my choice. it helped me keep aiming at head level. if I wanted to cheat myself, I took out every weapon in my primary and secondary slot to keep me true to what I wanted to do, which was improve on my snipes.
this is a pretty old video so i dont know if anyone will see it haha but anyway just wanted to say thank you very much for making this series and has helped me an insane amount with my sniping thanks again
I think in the end what really makes a good sniper someone who is simply used to the sensitivity of the gun in respect to the distance of the target allowing you to line up the headshot and get the insta kill.
I actually played against you a couple of times and damn you were good. Thanks for the clip! Hopefully I'm able to take some of your fundamentals and incorporate them into my game play. I really want to be a better sniper, but I find myself getting frustrated in crucible as I'm bringing my team down due to my poor sniping. Anyway...thanks!
Great start to the series. A little too much emphasis on one gun though. Not everyone was lucky enough to get the Longbow with the perks that you have on yours. How about showing some efforts with some of the sniper rifles more readily available in the current meta?
I just have the vendor version of Longbow but I think it will work fine. I also got a Hieracon - LR5 that fires fast but haven't brought it to the crucible yet...not sure how many shots it takes to drop someone with it. I was hoping you would do this series and hopefully you'll discuss perks that are favorable, rate of fire, and damage required so we don't waste time ranking up the wrong rifles. Maybe do a minute or so on how you trained and used to practice to get your headshots down visually. Good Job!
I miss D1 Year 1 so fucking much. I'm seriously watching this damn near teary-eyed. God it was my favorite multiplayer experience ever. I wish Bungie would stop trying to save D2 and just go back to making D1 DLCs and expansions. And I say that as someone who bought the $100 D2 limited edition. I legitimately wouldn't care. I'd rather see the better game flourish.
Anyone watching this for the nostalgia?
Gotcha beat
YEET
I am. Still miss those days more than any gaming period I've been a part of (including Halo 3).
To me these were the best of times.
Yea
Yes
Year 2 player here, and all I can say is, HOLY CRAP look how much special ammo!
lol I know right

+Hj 2015nine Thanks so much for that-I appreciate it! I was practicing with a Scout Rifle most of the afternoon! Lol! I'll look you up on PSN, but my gamertag is different...
No problem
I've been looking 4 a vid. Like this for at least 3 months. Thank you for sharing your ability with us.

The awesome Westyfield vex 56 rounds an jolder 50something aswell
Call me Clutch gaming but snipers are still shit except for nlb and maps like first light and maps with lanes like rusted lands
The awesome Westyfield I've gotten 8 of them in 2 days
You are a saint among men, sir. Good advice, stated clearly, in a laid-back demeanor that's easy to listen to. Your tips about how to practice sighting in is what I was hoping to find, and I'm very happy to have actually found it.

Awesome vid. I know it’s old but your tips are fantastic and I’ll try them out in forsaken. Keep it up TV
I loved this video - I found it super helpful and enjoyable. Thank you!!
2020 and watching it again ,still relevant ,even if Tv 's sniping gameplay is realy different now
Anyone 2019? Y really loved this game! god damm!
I sometimes just like to watch these old vids to jog the memory of how much we lost. eve down tot he look and feel d1 was better than d2
It really wasn’t you’re just nostalgically biased
I want to thank you for all your support and help on this sniper videos you've been putting out they really helped me improve my game and I can really feel more confident in my sniper abilities keep up the good work and keep this it's coming because I like seeing your videos

The timepiece is one of my go-to primaries :)
Michael Montes thanks for tip, will dust it off from my vault and give it a run ... been using Evergreen II.I most of the time

Excellent vid, man. All of you with Rezo are doing some incredible and very useful stuff.
Had to come back for a refresher and all the feels. Thanks always, TV!
Wow man, FANTASTIC video. I really appreciate your approach with not only giving the pointers for sniping but also pausing to commentate on the video. Like all the best teachers I had in school: learn as much by accident(along the way) as I do on purpose.
Man, this is hands down the best snipe tutorial I have seen, and I have been watching a lot because I suck at sniping.

This really helped me a lot. Im hitting a lot of my shots now. Thx again for your awesomeness truevanguard
Shoutout to the series that really got me into destiny
hey Vanguard, I just found out a great sniping tip for those playing on a big TV (which must be a lot of players). I tried switching on "game mode" and it actually feels like I'm playing a different game. So much more responsive! Now I know why I'm sometimes better at long flick shots than I am waiting for enemies to run into my crosshairs! Kind of crazy that I've been playing that way this whole time..
AWSOME explanation never could have been said better great job.
4 years on, tv is still the same dude, content is still relevant. Nice

Love your videos you inspire me to be better at destiny and keep my eyes on the mini map
I did what you did in patrol and it really helped my target acquisition
Great video! I was also lucky enough to get the Longbow(mine has grenadere and final round and I love it compared to my LDR. It just shoots so smooth and its void so it'll replace my Paredyths Revenge. I enjoy sniping alot but I feel like I'm being forced to resort to a shotgun with most of the maps being chosen:/.
P.S. I saw that live stream w/ you and Tinkkz. :) Very entertaining. You guyz seem like fun people to play with. I'm going to have to catch you on a subby stream so I can play with you one of these days.

Ahh memories.... using Praedyth's revenge to destroy kids in vanilla crucible
Great video. I miss the long bow! Now we get the 1000 yard stare non stop!
I completely agree with you about this. Though I use patience and time because I am very accurate, it would be nice to get those reviving guys with one shot. The reason I use p and t though is because it has a high rof and insane stability so I can get from one kill to the next really fast. But great video man
That was a great help thank you. I've always been a in pve and started to play pvp and I love it, great fun.
Great video, very informative for new and veteran snipers alike.
Thanks
+khalifa altayer Me too but I don't know how to improve
exactly the same...
i know you posted that long time ago but it happens to me too one game I'm amazing the other I suck.
sometimes we feel more confident on maps we know better. playing a map we're not familiar with, or don't know all the sniping lanes on can throw us off of our game.
-Warming up
-Different Maps
-Different enemies
-Luck
-I am too Late but i don’t care all of you are propably pros now Ort you stopped playing
found this really helpful thanks!
I found that its not just about having the best sniper that matters, but having the one that suits your play style and you find comfortable. for example I prefer the Hawkeye scope, which is better for shorter ranges because I find having too much zoom on a scope restricts your field of vision.
anyway great tips thanks again!
1:39 "oh relax we'll just sit down here and...." POW! HEADSHOT!
"One of the biggest misconceptions of this game is that a sniper is a sniper"
This explains absolutely everything
Great video man! Good tips! Personally, my favorite sniper for the Crucible has always been The Supremacy from the Queen's Wrath event. If you have it, what do you think of it?
I have a longbow, though I haven't used it much. Gonna have to go look at the perks now! Haha
Some good tips here for sure.
This tutorial helped lots, thanks and keep it rolling. :D
Keeping your scope aimed head-level is the best possible advice. The best practice is to play SWAT on Halo Reach. It forces you to always keep your rifle head level, and good habits carry over.
Like your videos. Appreciate how you speak over the video of you playing and comment on it as you go.
Hey it's JehuKing and thanks for the tutorial! Funny, I mentioned this in your stream but you clearly had this planned for a bit. Your tip about head level is great and I'll out it to use. Wanna get better at sniping.
Hey man! Thanks again for stopping by the stream. Yeah I was planning this one for a while now, been excited about it.
Thanks for the Tutorial. Def am gonna use this to increase my skill. I'm starting with a Perfect Balance LDR5001. First 2 games I went 1.9 n 1.8 when I'm usually in the 1.2ish K/D range!
I have watched this series so much that I have gone mlg a couple of times in trials
Best Destiny utuber period
still relevant. my sniping got so much worse in d2 and I want to fix it
Such a great vid mate great work!
thanks for the easy to learn tutorial i am average at sniping and cant wait to what the rest of your videos
wow watching this about 9 months later and its so weird seeing where the crucible was at back then versus now... I miss how the snipers and fusions were but shotguns and especially those exotic handcannons were waaay too strong.
Bro, I just saw someone post a great idea on Mr.FruitsGamingChannel about doing a special dream team Iron Banner bets for next IB! When I practice my sniping, which is few and far between, I like to do it against enemies just because it helps acquire targets at different height levels, but I also enjoy practicing focusing on an object at head level
Time is passing by so fast. This was your first video i watched.
Another great vid. I grabbed the Longbow from the vendor since never dropped for me, and I don't regret it.
Hey you mentioned denying the C objective, and map/spawn control is so important. I wonder if you could do a talk on how to play from the poor spawns and how/when to claim the ideal objectives when an opponent is defending well.

love your vids keep up the good work
I just wanna say that i use only shotguns in the crucible but thanks for this series because i intend on learning how to not miss every fucking shot in the crucible
Very helpfull, i'm a beast with shotgun but a disaster with snipe, ineed to learn how to do it effectively. Thanks!
That's the exact same with me.. I want to get good with snipers so I can become more flexible with my playstyles.
You're a beast at shotgun because shotguns require no skill :p
Shotguns do require some skill, they're just really easy to pick up as shotguns use similar skills to primary's.
dude thank you for the video. Been trying to work on my sniper skills, and this will help a lot :)
yes you are one of the best destiny snipers.
Brilliant pointers.
wow man ur just soo good i hope i learn from u
Great vid! I've learned a lot about situational awareness by watching. Any other tips for learning to scope in near head level/minimize target acquisition? You mention it's the most important skill, so I'm curious what methods you'd recommend.
Posted 4 years ago.... Still watched.
Everytime at 7:04 your commentary activates my Siri when you so "and so right there" lmao
Love your videos

this is a pretty old video so i dont know if anyone will see it haha but anyway just wanted to say thank you very much for making this series and has helped me an insane amount with my sniping thanks again
this brings back memories such a shame d2 burns me out so fast
I think in the end what really makes a good sniper someone who is simply used to the sensitivity of the gun in respect to the distance of the target allowing you to line up the headshot and get the insta kill.
I actually played against you a couple of times and damn you were good. Thanks for the clip! Hopefully I'm able to take some of your fundamentals and incorporate them into my game play. I really want to be a better sniper, but I find myself getting frustrated in crucible as I'm bringing my team down due to my poor sniping. Anyway...thanks!
Great tips. Subbed.
Watchint this in 2018 makes me so sad. I miss this game so much
Great start to the series. A little too much emphasis on one gun though. Not everyone was lucky enough to get the Longbow with the perks that you have on yours. How about showing some efforts with some of the sniper rifles more readily available in the current meta?
love your vids I subscribed
Great help thank you for your expertise. What sensitivity setting so you use?
Good stuff!
K2shadowfax Thanks!
I like how redrix’s (sword name) has the old design of the old rapid fires
Well made video

Slight correction - when using the third barrel option on patience and time (cant remember what its called) you can one shot off of a revive
Aggressive ballistics
Look at all that special ammo. The good old days!
Good Job!
Reefcat It takes 2 shots to the body, 1 to the head.
All snipers are 2 to the body and 1 to the head. Exception of the New Monarchy Prudence, which is 3 to the body on higher armor warlocks and titans.
Actully the subtle nudge and a few others from the vendors take 3 body shots ^^
UnKn0wNxFouR I made that post before HoW was released. Yes Nudge and the 20/20 I believe it is are 3.
Sorry, feels like HoW is a lot older haha
20/20 amr7 three shots to the body
Sidney Dunn this is in year 1
I miss D1 Year 1 so fucking much.
Ur tips helped so much
I have a nice Longbow Synthesis with Unflinching and Firefly that I have been a fan of for a wile.
How do you get the longbow
