Yeah Ive just gotten to plat4 for the first time with terry I could only get to plat 3 with akuma so I'm glad vesper and others are putting these guides out so I can up my game and finally get to master but gotta hit diamond first
Terry has a lot of potential. But you need to play him in a different way compared to the top tiers. And auto pilot him will put you in a minus inferno. Is not what the pros like, but is a good char if you don't want to do ginormous combos ( like, 8mp, od quick burn, triple geyser does 5400 damage and don't burn out you ), keeping the K.I.S.S. approach. And if you want to go technical all the timing, delays, etc, is unreliable to a pro. But is fantastic to people that just wanna have fun. Thanks to show it for all the Terry mains!
Considering how beloved Terry is by the sf6 dev team, I feel like it's impossible for him to stay mediocre in this game, there was absolutely a build prior to release in where his tool kit was a lot more harmonious and he wasn't outclassed by the shotos and I feel like if he's getting changes its a drip feed of how he was in that build. Character is too fun for me to put down despite wanting to play a very clearly strong character in regards to the meta, best bet is to stay ready with this kind of info and tech, his high execution stuff is scratching an itch that just wasn't answered in this game before he was out, keep it up great content
Great guide Vesper, only seeing this now, but have learnt a lot that I didn't know about. As it stands Terry is a mid or low tier character, but he's a ton of fun to use. It will be interesting to see if Capcom tweak him as I feel they could easily ramp up his power with some small changes. At the same time, whilst SF6 is a really good game, it does suffer from some characters being rather homogenous. It's not so much that Terry is bad, but rather other shotos do what he does, but do it better.
I agree man! I'm looking forward to future adjustments. Capcom has a lot of info to prepare for season 3 since we now have a pretty understood meta already.
8:47 is there a reason you're not cancelling into heavy shoulder from the second hit of 5HP? It combos after a drive rush/punish counter/counter hit. Should be more optimized then.
I only cancel 5HP after the 2nd hit on punish counter, I'm not sure if it's optimal otherwise because it depends on what special you end the combo with. If you find anything that does more damage feel free to let me know! Thanks.

i really hope they fix him in the future patches...its so sad seeing him this weak and its shocking he is a guest character AND in the same season as bison and akuma...he feels like a free DLC.

cant manage to do power wave after shoulder , any tips on the timing? the DR into medium never reaches it
Heavy Shoulder cancelled into Light Fireball? After DR the Medium Punch has to be delayed so Terry can reach them.
@ damnnnnnnn I can do it 100% of times now , I was delaying the power wave not the DR
