I was in our new zero waste shop yesterday & it is amazing. I am willing to pay more for most things, but Elate cosmetics are SO expensive...it's out of the question. Gabrielle is a very good company & I can recycle the packaging @ the zw shop.

I was literally trying to find a sustainable make-up brand, LEGEND. Also if you're going to chop the hair off, I did recently as well and donated them to a foundation that makes wigs for people that lost their hair cause of chemotherapy. Just putting the idea out there, obviously it's your decision. Have an amazing Day!

Honestly, I like seeing someone who's into makeup but not the guru type makeup person as it makes it feel less intimidating to do and would rather follow how you would do it cause it's something someone does on a day to day basis and not for like a photoshoot.

Hairwise, I think you should cut it to shoulder's length, that is very flattering for you in my opinion :-) I would also be really happy to hear your opinion about hair dying if it started turning white. Just found your channel and really appreciate your videos 🙂 I use reusable cloths and coconut oil to remove my make up, but I’m not sure if this is a good idea. Obviously some of the oil will end up in the sewer when I wash the cloths. What’s your opinion about this?

Hello! I'm from Belgium and I can't seem to find a place that sells Elate cosmetics within the EU, where do you get them from?
the lovely thing about hair is it grows back if you go for a big chop consider donating your hair to the princess trust its zero wasting and helping kids who have lost their own hair ive done it lots of times as i go between bum length and shaving it with a razor blade and back again im 50 i just chopped of 12 inches or so as my hair is so thick its like wearing a duvet on my head and sometimes i get so hot and as soon as i start spitting toothpaste into my hair or its just too annoying i get my kitchen scissors out and chop it off i leave the bits out for wildlife if its too short to donate what the wildlife doesnt take becomes compost in place but its zero waste regardless and cost to me £0.00
I hate throwing away tubes, bottles, jars when there is more uses out of it. I scrape it all out.

hey! okay firstly, thank you for mentioning looking like a fool when putting on mascara. i feel like there's no dignified way to do it lol. secondly, on your cosmetics recommendation list, i don't think the keeping it natural etsy store exists anymore. maybe they changed names? i've been looking at this other etsy store called clean faced cosmetics if you'd like to check them out:) hope your day is great!

Apologies if you’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but what brand of spf do you use? Currently use a pretty decent brand (reef friendly, vegan etc) but it’s packaging isn’t the best 🌞💚
I use the vegan lotion from Amazinc ☺️
Just a random zero waste tip: while liquid and oily/waxy make up products should be used up fairly quickly after their best by date, dry products like powdery eye shadows are safe to use (for you! don't share, that's risky) for far longer
If you do your brows first then you don't risk ruining your face makeup with your hand 😊
I'm happy you got a sustainable brand deal. But as someone that's from Canada and has known someone completely screwed over by the company. I think while they're sustainable they aren't the most ethical people wise
Thanks for this beautiful video. I just rewatched your video on the impact of bamboo. Given what you said in your previous video Can I ask how Elate has made you comfortable with bamboo packaging? I understand that it is water treated but from what you said in your previous video that would be only one of many considerations. Also, do you know if Elate is sold in mainland China? I cannot find that information on their website but maybe they shared it with you.
Great question! To piggyback off of this, if I may, I've wondered about other mascaras since the bamboo on theirs is simply covering a regular plastic tube. I love your videos, Gittemary!
@@rachelrudi8958 yes, I noticed the same thing. There is no refill for the mascara. When it is used up the bamboo as well as the plastic tube that contains the mascara has to be thrown out. In this case It would seem that the bamboo is simply for aesthetic purposes. That is unless I’m missing something.
@@susandean8584 The bamboo around the plastic tube provides structural integrity for the thin plastic that keeps our mascara formula free of bacteria, a far more sustainable option that a 100% plastic tube. Using a 100% bamboo tube was not possible due to our Bamboo being water-treated, however we understand that our packaging could be more sustainable.
We are actually in the process of creating a more sustainable plastic-free refillable Mascara option to hopefully be released this year! We know that we can do better, and with your continued support we hope we can improve all of our packaging to be as low waste and sustainable as possible 🌍

Judith August Cosmetics has pencil style lipsticks that are completely zero waste and biodegradable. And La Bouche Rouge has beautiful (high end) refillable zero waste lipstick options as well! ENJOY!!
