SAME! There was a private club in Kansas City called Chapman’s. Even tho the legal age to drink was 21, in Kansas, private clubs could serve liquor at 18. (If my memory serves me correctly) It was an old mansion converted into a disco. So cool!!! So when I was 18, we’d go there on the weekends and I remember dancing to this song a lot!!!

Yeah she seems like a soccer mom or something that was famous when she was young. And they were like is Timmys mom around? Can you sing that song for us? 😂
I like how down-to-earth she dresses here. She feels no need to play the disco diva. She doesn’t have to. Her voice alone is enough. That tells me the woman has real confidence.
@@elijahfluw4347 just ridiculous. Have you ever heard the original from Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes with the best singer ever Teddy Pendergrass? Of course not.
Not a big disco fan, but this song is audio butter. So good! Her voice sounds almost desperate and yet powerful at the same time. The bass line is amazing. This is music.
On the short list with “I Will Survive”, “Last Dance”, “The Hustle” and “Le Freak”. I don’t count the Saturday Night Fever stuff by The Bee Gees…that was transcendent.
I absolutely love the way this song starts off, this entire song always makes me feel amazing! I absolutely adore this beautiful treasure. Thelma was a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice❤
Hello, She is a wonderful lady. I met her when she was touring in the 60's and before she became a big star My group had the great privilege to back her shows for two weekends here Cali.
One of the better disco songs. My aunt and uncle danced to this cut when I brought it home from the record store. They really danced well and they enjoyed themselves. A fun evening.
This song is just KILLER! Her voice sets *my* soul on fire! Her voice to me feels like a river of smooth caramel, able to curve itself perfectly around the melody. Just amazing. 💗 I feel like I need to listen to all of her music now. And that bassline! The only regretful thing about this video is that we don't get to see the bassist work their magic. I'll be searching for more live versions of this! Thank you for posting this video! 💓💓💓
Oh god the MEMORIES this song brings back. Dancing with friends long gone ,feeling so young,so full of life.We were going to be young and beautiful forever.

Just saw her on "The Masked Singer". I knew that I'd heard the song before. I just didn't know who sung it. And when she got unmasked, she sang this song.
Or maybe lip synching (not that she couldn't do it live, but if they even had real background singers singing to a track they would have shown them.)
And her dance is just so graceful and joyful.
A true artist with unbelievable vocal abilities.
I love how casually she's dressed. It's like some soccer mom just got up out of the audience to unexpectedly DELIVER this song.
Thats what was the time we lived in .........happy .... enjoy ....and lots of joy and pleasure.....we loved eachother
Yes! It's refreshingly different and unexpected 🙂
That shows you how dominant the song is. No need for the visual aesthetics because the song is so strong on its own.
They probably didn't give her a budget for clothes, so she wore her own!!!❤❤❤
Yeah she seems like a soccer mom or something that was famous when she was young. And they were like is Timmys mom around? Can you sing that song for us? 😂
This bass line was used in a few Motown dance smash hits like Diana's "Love Hangover". Rock on!!!
