I feel like Alexis Bledel MIGHT not have had the same sexual confidence. Yeah, the character is supposed to be shy, but the actress had to be comfortable shooting simulated BDSM tied up on a set with a bunch of guys standing around all day. And the backlash of playing an erotica role, too. Dakota Johnson is clearly very comfortable with sex and sexuality. I suspect Bledel wouldn't have been completely comfortable taking on the role. But who knows, I could be totally off base. Bledel would've been adorable in the role... but it would've been weird to see Rory in it, lol.
