- What a beautiful poem - such wonderfully described memories of childhood - blemished by life's tribulations... but the poem enriches our life with it's beauty....
IMPECCABLE...You really must watch and listen. Only once in life will you experience something this beautiful.....
Max Tickner ~ thanks for your comment ~ always rewarding to know someone enjoys my work ~ best to you db
R I P David , who sadly died yesterday , 6th March / 2021 ....great voice , and actor .
The best "I remember, I remember" recitation I've heard so far, many thanks for such a pleasure you gave🖤.
Well can't do better than best ~ so thank you!!
Super and beautiful
Thanks Sabela ~ and yes the poem is just that :)
Wow, this is better than any recreation of this poem. I love the emotion in the words.
Beautiful voice, wonderful poem and immaculate diction. You, sir, have a voice and a look of a bard...and emotions you bring to your performance - just perfect!
Thanks Branislav ~ always pleased to know I've communicated what I feel ~ my raison d'être ~ thanks again best db
My dear David ... perhaps it is the influence my own present time of remembering, but I honestly believe this is the best thing of yours that I've seen ... and there have been many. My first viewing of it bought a few tears; the second viewing, a few more. I think "Waltzing Matilda" has had sufficient exposure over the years, but this work of Thomas Hood and others similar have not. Well done, old man. More ... more.
Hi Bob and thanks ~ I feel reasonably pleased with it ~ finally learning to allow stuff the rythyms they inspire in me ... just letting it happen ?? I too find this very emotional much as I do with most of the stuff I tackle - joy gets me going :)
I have to explain this poem to my students. I will definitely show this video to them.
Excellent ~ just what it's intended for ! ~ If you tell them that he's also a Pirate ...it might instill an immediacy in them ???? best db
Well done!
On New Year's Eve I took up my guitar and strummed some chords--A minor, D minor, E 7--which inspired me to write a song. "I remember, I remember..." I began. I tried to link those words to lost innocence. Nothing I wrote sounded right, but the phrase kept running through my head all New Year's Day. Tonight I finally googled it. Yes, even waaaaay out here on South Dakota's frozen prairies, I've heard this poem before.
Thank you!

What a beautiful poem, David!
Thanks Jim ~ yes it is ~ I sort of knew of it ~ I took a book of poems to aussie ~ found this and tuned in big time ~ Love it!
I remember reciting this in a sing-song way at school but your rendering is in a different dimension; so poignant, perfectly delivered (and acted) and leaving a glow in the heart.
Thanks Robert - have just returned from your part of the world - learned this on the Gibb River Road - soothing :)
Glad you survived the heat, the dust and the crocs or there'd be no more mdebailes videos
Hi sir! Everytime I watched you, you melt my heart everytime you deliver! I was thinking if you can also do "My Lost Youth" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow! Thank you!❤ much love!
Femia Diaz ~ thank you very much ~ kind comments ~ have put "my Lost Youth" on my to do list ~ lovely poem ~ In fact Longfellow is favourite of mine ~ take care and thanks again ~ best db

impressive.
Thanks
Thank you Jack
Well done! Bravo!!! I don't understand your choice of music though.
Me neither ~ just sounded appropriate ~ :) thanks for the response
I guess the music may then have some significance to your own youth.
Somehow I would have imagined a wispy type music like in this coffee commercial : ruclips.net/video/L1Bbdqm1fK4/видео.html
or like Autumn Leaves: ruclips.net/video/HxGT5z6d-GA/видео.html
But that's just my vision of being nostalgic (probably stereotypical).
I listened to some more of your work. True quality. Thank you for making it available.
Autumn leaves I know well ~ but I am constrained by copyright ~ "they" are quick and efficient at picking it up and it can black mark one! ta anyway db
@@mdebailes-OK Complicated, I see. Thank's for your answer and quality entertainment. :-)
