I know it’s only Barnsley but when ugarte won the ball back quickly then gave it to eriksen to assist Garnacho that is what we are looking to do so it’s a good start
he gave it to Rashford though, but it was a flawless combination
Ugarte will progress for sure, I saw people saying he’s mid and lost duels but I also saw a lot of interceptions from him and in general, so I think a lot is being worked on in that area for the whole team. He is a very good player and will develop levels too. Winning that ball back and retaining possession he can do and will be contagious. We now have a lot of press monsters on the team, Ugarte, Bruno, Mount, Wingers like Amad, even Rashfords got his tale up a bit etc etc. The improvements won’t be major overnight, it’s increments.

You can only say this when we play City away from home and we see him fighting against the best in the league. Than you can make a statement as this. Without a good, system Ugarte won't do much.
I absolutely agree with you. I think he's going to help bring out the best in Casemiro, Eriksen, Mainoo and Bruno and we can have so many different midfield combinations

I hope ten hag plays Eriksen for games like Ipswich or lower teams in the prem because he definitely is that type of impact player and it would be better to rest Bruno for larger fixtures,but obviously playing Eriksen for big games is ridiculous because as Mark said “He hasn’t got the legs”Which I completely agree on but that obviously doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be getting game time at all.

Small sample size, but from what I've seen, he's the type of midfielder we've been calling out for, a tenacious ball winner who is comfortable on the ball and pick a pass!
Ugarte frees up Bruno and gives us rotation to rest him and gives us options at no 10 with Eriksen, Casemiro or Mount if we want to push higher up

Looks good on the ball but any other game there was at least 4 definite yellow card fouls he made. Lucky the ref was lenient. I don’t want a repeat of what happened with Casemiro in the prem where the refs are itching to card him from kick off! That’s my concern

He's tenacious and aggressive ball winner in the mould of owen Hargreaves.
I saw a team with more confidence then I've seen a quite awhile. The ball movement, passes, and defensive coverage was heaps and bounds above the last few seasons. Rashford was running, Antony was engaged and challenging both offensively and defensively, Casemiro and Erikson were getting the passes and long balls off because Ugarte was creating the space to allow them to keep the momentum.
Ugarte is going to be huge for us. HUGE. Go watch the sporting Lisbon match vs Arsenal in Euro fixture at Emirates. He terrorised that Arsenal midfield.

The problem is that signing a player like Ugarte is basically giving up on your style of football and an admission that you lose the ball so much that you need a specialist to get it back and give up a lot of creativity like other CDMs like Rodri and Rice give you. If you look at the clubs with the most tackles in the league right now its Man Utd, Everton and Crystal Palace. Its not something to be proud of. Man City are bottom of the league for number of tackles because they keep the ball and don't need to go on the hunt to get it back as much.
Joao Palhinha is 200x better than Rice. Palhinha is the only CDM in the world closer to Rodri. We need a Palhinha type of CDM , like you said some one who is a destroyer and also a ball playing deep line midfield. Ugarte lacks those qualities.
I can only rate Ugarte if he controls the ball against Anston villa, totheam, westham and crystal palace

Ugarte will be an important player for Man United. His workrate, toughness and winning the ball back is top class but he will for sure get a red during the season. He is a high risk player in duels who get a lot of yellow cards so he will be suspended during the season for sure at the same time he is a low risk player when passing the ball. Circulation is his game.

Ugarte looks to be the type of player to suit our style but doesn't fix a system problem. Most of the times we have issues in midfield it's due to being outnumbered and he can't fix that. A good team will just pop the ball round him or he will have to foul picking up cards. The back line needs to push much higher as he can't press, miss and give up 40 yards of empty pitch to our back 4. He needs to be press resistant as he will need to bring the out often, that can't be left to Mainoo alone or he will be targeted to stop us playing
