Four barrels purchased, no issues. Have #5 just shipped. You can use any gas block. I find using their's makes install easier and perfect with the cross pin.
Based on the reviews read about this company's product I don't doubt that I got a one off lemon, I just wish it was handled differently. Yes, you can use another gas block but it makes sense to use theirs as the cross pin hole is drilled to match it so if you don't plan on using the cross pin and just want to use set pins then another gas block is an option.
Absolutely correct. The reason I use them is that the cross pin makes the locking screws optional and insures the gas block is properly aligned. I agree, you probably got a lemon and they should have handled it direct. How's the accuracy on your replacement barrel ? rough sighting at 50 yds I was getting 1/8"-1/4" groups with cheap ball. Once it warms up I'll get it out to 100 and see how it flies.
The pin is a crushable pin so you can install it and before you put the set screws you can tap the gas block straight and then tighten down the set screws with red loctite or rocksett. Ballistic advantage is now aware that this happens and thats what Clint Hanson reccomended to do in one of his videos.
I bought 3 Tacticon Laser/light combos (blems) one got wet and stopped working (no warranty on blems?), the replacement I HAD to purchase came in damaged, and the third one finally works. I do like it a lot though, but I spent the same amount to get ONE working light as I would have paying full price WITH a Warranty. Oh well, live and learn.
I just ordered a complete 11.3 upper from BA and it’s under gassed, not stripping a new round from the magazine and bolt not locking back on an empty magazine. After the first 100 rounds through this upper I purchased assembled I also noticed soot on top of the barrel reaching almost back to the receiver from the gas block leaking. Soon to find out how their customer service is.
Dude im having that same issue .... 10.3 inch hansen performance. I got excess gas on the front and the back of the gas block no matter what gas block i use ..... i tried different ammo from 125 grain all the way to 175 grain ammo 300 blackout. Doesn't lock back the bolt after the last round. The first round ejects the spent case at the 3 oclock position then every round after that it goes to the 5 oclock position way under gassed. I get jams after that . I cant even finish one magazine without jaming issues and not picking up the next round .....
I sent mines back for warranty, it’s been 10 days and I haven’t heard anything yet.I ended up buying a bcm 11.5 complete upper which has arrived already while I am waiting. Not sure rather their going to fix it or refund me!!!
@@Jason32Bourne i emailed them asking what the status of my warranty claim was and was told they had not got around to it yet due to the pick up of sales. So i then asked was a full refund one of my options and they replied yes and issued one that only took about 2days. Barrel was definitely accurate but I believe that they have sacrificed Qc to meet high volume production requirements. Knowing what I know now I wouldn’t buy from them again. In the gun industry you usually want to catch a great company before they become too big and start slacking on Qc to be able to meet consumer demand.
I completely agree. Piss poor QC and service after the sale. I have one of their barrels and it is solid MOA shooter with no issues. BA has a RUclips video about installing their pinned gas blocks. In it they state that you can tap the gas block with a hammer to align it if needed. It would seem to me that would only be needed if the pin cut out was not clocked correctly. That leads me to believe that yours is likely not an isolated case. I prefer to use a dimpling jig. Perfect alignment is 100% guaranteed. FSB's need to be pinned. Pinning a low profile gas block, that is going to be protected by a handguard anyway, is pointless IMO.
This is the exact reason I have a love hate relationship with BA Hanson barrels. The barrels shoot nice and gassed pretty good. The gas blocks are not aligned properly, they are clocked a little bit and pushed to far back so gas block gas hole isnt centered of gas hole. Also the gas block tolerances and fitment to the journal is loose as hell. I have also had one of their gas blocks that had burs inside the hole for gas tube. If they would get their gas block fitment corrected they would have a fantastic barrel. Their is no reason that their gas block shouldn't fit nice and tight. Especially when gas block and barrel is their product.
So you could install the gas block with the set screws and red locktite. You could also modify the grove to allow the pin to fit. I hope you get a new barrel that is correct. I just ordered the same barrel from Aims Surplus, I hope mine is OK.
I do red locktite all gas block screws afterwards but and quality control department should have caught an oversight like that. It shouldn't rest on the shoulder of the customer to have manipulate a product in order to get it to work properly as it was intended. That being said, my replacement barrel was perfect, it installed extremely easily with no issues whatsoever and the headspace cleared as well.
I just got my 14.5" Hanson and it is very nice. I have been cleaning the bore and it is very dirty. I am now waiting on a YHM Phantom flash suppressor so I can have it pinned and welded. Let us know how your gun shoots, some groups at 100 yards would be awesome.
@@NebulousCat BRO fire that fucking gun before you pay to have it welded... my BA 14.5 hanson was under gassed and would short stroke, nothing could fix it.
Too bad you are experiencing the problem... I have built nine AR's using their barrels and have had no issues.... While the cross pin is a nice addition, it is redundant and quite honestly not really paramount to immobilizing the gas block.... some thread locker and the two set screws should be fine....
If you buy tires at a local seller would you try contacting Michelin for quality issues or the vendor where you got the tires? I agree Ba should have had enough curtesy to at least point you back to the ‘3rd party’. Did the new barrel turn out alright? I’ll try to find an update video from you now.
The cutout was done in the manufacturing process, its the dimple for the taper pin on the gas block. The first barrel was drilled off center causing the gas block to be canted.
I have a full review of the gun I build using this barrel coming. I'm doing editing and adding some additional footage so stay tuned for the update vid.
Sometimes the gas hole isnt centered with the barrel, so if the pin is off center, that could just be how it lines up with an off-center gas hole. It doesnt always mean that the block is pinned wrong. Ive had much more expensive barrels come to me with off-center gas holes. Dont get me wrong, its annoying, but i would bet money that if you assembled that barrel and shot it, it would function fine, and probably wouldnt be overgassed haha. Customer service coulda been better though. Or at least a reply, assuming you were courteous you at least deserve a reply from em.
The gas hole was centered correctly, it was the drilled set pins that were crooked. Yes, I could have used the set pins with the gas block, but if you have the option of both, why not use them?
My second barrel from them has been flawless so far, I was just a little perturbed they didn't handle the warranty exchange a d I was forced to go through the 3rd party reseller.
I have heard back from the re-seller and they have already sent me out a replacement but they were quite surprised at the response/reaction from BA as well.
I ordered (2) barrels directly from them and one barrel has a burr on the threading and another has a small gas port. After having 2 different professionals look the barrel over they both came to the same conclusion of the gas port needing to be drilled out. I left a message on there you tube acc when I watched a few videos about how professional and “thorough” they are about there products. They really love there customers. They definitely can’t be wrong. The only company I found to be honest with people over the years and have good customer service is BCM.
