Saw. Saw. Saw.
The song is actually about how we're our own biggest obstacle. It is actually about how you should talk to strangers instead of letting the negativity take over :)
I think it was on one of those Hear N aid videos that he talk about that?
My god... A non-english speaking 12 year old me could understand the meaning of this song, better than this two... LITERALLY :S

I love when Lex said "Finally! Some Real Metal! Bless her heart!
Guitarist, Vivian Campbell has made himself a nice career in Def Leppard, but he rocked those first few DIO albums hard. Good memories.
He was soo much better with Dio..
Ruined his career as an Artist after leaving Dio~
Still made monet but nothing Original and badazz like he did with Dio : (
Thank you Ronnie for all the great music that you left us! RIP
The Holy Diver album is a masterpiece. Show Dio on this tour and Queensryche opened. Fantastic!
When I saw them it was Y&T and Dokken. Which were both good.
Freshman year 1983, sitting in Zoology class while drawing the Dio logo on my notebook. Thank you for the trip back in time, may you NEVER stop rockin'!! ✌👺🤘
me too freshman year. us and millions of others listening to ronnie.
I think Dio was the best heavy metal singer of all time. Plus his guitar players were epic.
That voice was freakin incredible
God his voice is so dynamic his range is phenomenal
Hello from New England.."LOOK OUT" it's the Goat himself Mr. Ronnie James Dio...any Dio fans will get that Inside joke..RIP RJD... 🤘🤘✌️✌️
Love dio. Hes got an amazing voice. Holy diver, rainbow in the dark, last in line and we rock to name a few you should hit!
They've actually done all of those except for We Rock
oh they did. did they all get blocked? since i dont see them on their yt channel.

RIP DIO 🤘🎸🎃
this was the 1st DIO song that i ever heard in my life, as a boy of 14 years of age and i was sold right away , ever living love for DIO and rock/metal since then, aged 53 now. The best ever, RIP Ronnie James DIO, rock in heaven....
SO glad to see Lex getting her metal on again 🤘🤘!! It's been too long. Great Dio song, probably my favorite!! This album ranks WAY up there among the best ever!
RIP Ronnie!! The Greatest Metal Singer of All Time!!
This song is Dio using sarcasm to explain how people try to stop you from living life in it’s truest form. Talk to stranger, dream of women do it all. That’s what DIO would have wanted 🤘🤘
I am one of the fortunate few to have seen him twice in concert, The Last in Line, and Sacred Heart tours back in the day, man I miss those days...
Dio 's voice is amazing! Best metal singer...IMO
Hey, hell yeah you too! You really NEED to go back & start reacting consistently to more heavy metal songs in general. I really miss those days from you.
Me too. It,s been too long. Megadeth, Testament, Savatage, Anthrax, Metal Church and more Classic 80s Metal. From the 70s, you should react too UFO, Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep, White Snake and lots more. So many to choose from. I really miss the Classic 80s Metal and 70s Hard Rock. The Music is now dominated by mostly 70s pop and Soft Rock.
The Godfather of Metal...one Mr.Ronnie James Dio.,we miss you terribly RIP
Writing in starlight is a literal meaning but also is in reference to seeking guidance from the stars as in astrology. And yes Lex, you get it. Darkness can be illuminating as it pertains to getting closer to the light.
I saw DIO back in 1980 something and till this day it is still the best concert I ever went to.
Man. Did he do the whole fight the dragon thing? I saw a video concert (yes, video) back in the day from his earlier concerts. I loved it.
1985 in Drammen outside of Oslo here. Great band with a good lead singer.
@@woodymeadows9363 Yes he did. It was the sacred hearts tour. That was the one with the huge mechanical dragon on stage. It really was awesome.
@@someoldatheist6712 I saw him on his Last in Line tour and I swear I remember something like that, with a dragon and him with a big sword. I was REALLY tore up though 🤪😆
@@brettkenschaft4239
That one may have had a dragon too. I don't know because the only one I saw was sacred hearts. But I did have both those albums!
The concept is don't listen to people that tell you what not to do. Follow your dreams no matter what words they use to discourage and scare you from seeking your dreams. Don't do this or this will happen. Don't do that or this will happen. Follow your dreams is what he's saying it's an encouraging song
Glad you finally came back to Dio and did this song. Next you should do Invisible and Straight Through the Heart. Also Stand Up and Shout.
The song is a warning that things are often not what they seem. To quote another Ronnie James Dio lyric, “The world is full of kings and queens, who blind your eyes and steal your dreams”. This is along the same lines.
My two favorite male singers - Dio for metal and Steve Marriott for Soul/rock. Two tiny men physically, but with giant voices. Both also died WAY too soon. Rest in Peace dear boys, thanks for the music 💔.
Right with you man.🤟
Absolutely! One of my favorite hard rock songs of all time is "30 Days in the Hole" by Humble Pie, but I loved Marriott's work in Small Faces also.
@@karenduell1027 30 days in the hole. Yes indeed!
@@jeffreyflint6286 I have to crank the volume as high as it will go, it's on my 70's playlist and I never get tired of it.

i understand the lyrics as an overly cautious people mind, someone afraid of the world, of risks, creating excuses against everything good.

Yes! More Dio! More Metal!
She really FEELS that heavy energy , emotions guide her to the heart of these songs. Then Brad steps in with a bit of common sense and analysis to add perspective. Always interesting.
Vivian Campbell is badass!! Right up there with Randy Rhoades, Eddie Van Halen, and Jake E. Lee... To me..these are elite guitarists of all time...🤘

You would love “Straight Through The Heart” off of the same album. It’s a classic album, whole thing beginning to end jams. Great guitar work throughout and the vocals….sheesh
Don't run from pain. If you do, you risk finding out you avoided pain, but missed living.
Dio's first 3 solo albums (w/ Vivian Cambell) were phenomenal.

Brad: "Anger may be up from Chill..." lol, perfect!
Great reaction ...DIO WITH VIVIAN CAMPBELL ON GUITAR ...classic band
Some of the material on this album was originally intended for the next Sweet Savage (the Irish band from the NWOBHM, not the LA glam band of the same name) album, but Dio plucked their guitarist at the time - Vivian Campbell - now with NWOBHM band Def Leppard.
There’s not one bad song on this whole album.
Graduating high school in 1984, my crowd was at all of these concerts
Vivian and Ronnie were MAGIC~
The first concert I ever went to . . . I was 9. I was on my brothers shoulders the entire show. Dio in Fresno, it was awesome. This has always been my favorite track from them.
Dio's first two solo albums are ridiculously good...
Invisible is a great song you should check out. It's hard to pick a favorite Dio song, but Invisible would definitely be in the top 3 for me
It’s starts with dont talk to strangers. What you’d tell a kid
Then it’s the kid growing over time allowing all these negative thoughts dominate the brain
We are all the kid
I used to play this song back in L A ....IN HIGH SCHOOL ..MY FIRST BAND ...WAYSTED CHILDREN....
I always took the meaning of these lyrics to be a cautionary tale against things that might look and seem appealing and enticing but might be harmful or dangerous instead. When we are children our parents teach us not to talk to strangers even if they seem nice and may be offering us a toy or some candy. This doesn't really change as an adult, especially for someone famous or perceived to have wealth. There are many pit traps and people looking to take advantage. Smelling the flower could be a kind of drug like opium from the poppy that pollutes your mind and makes you hallucinate, be delusional or just alter or diminish your ability to reason and think rationally.. A flower is also often used as a metaphor for a woman. The flower has beauty and attracts you to smell and touch it like a bee, the same for a man with a woman. For all the reasons mentioned above, especially for a married man, who is the star of a touring rock band and may be struggling to stay faithful when every night there are a multitude of options easily and readily available to you. The writer may already have had previous experience with how these women in the end will only bring you down. These things in combination while tempting and pleasurable eventually end up bad. Honestly, I think he would often just start with an idea and then play with word rhymes often in the form of riddles or opposing, contradictory statements to make you stop and think about the intended meaning. Dio liked to be mystical and intriguing and you find that all throughout his song writing. In the end, regardless of the original intent, it's up to the interpretation of the listener. Trying to figure out the meaning was almost as fun as listening to them. 😜🤘
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Dio, the first rocker to warn society about "Stranger Danger".
REALLY.....TELL ME HOW YOU DONT WANT TO SEEE HIM SING??? BEST METAL PERFORMER EVERRR!! rip😮💨
The power of that voice
The best Concert I've ever been to.
Ah, Dio- the greatest musician that I've ever gotten to watch as a child. With eyes gleaming and heart strong, may you rest happily in heaven and hell, Ronnie James Dio!
Oh man... His voice. Perfection.
Lex got it, she's so smart. 😁
i had to read a comment from one of the other videos to understand this, and it makes sense, hes not telling you to not smell flowers or anything, the first part where its calm i shim actually stating tons of stuff people just tell you, and you tell yourself, that controls your mind, thats why the big secodn part where the heavy music kicks in is him saying, IM THE DANGER, hes sayign that him (the thoughts in your brain) are the real danger, not the strangers, hwo are you spost to live you rlife if you never talk to them, or if you never lets say "smell the flowers"
Listen to Dio-This is your life. He could sing anything, the absolute best vocals in the industry. You can also listen to pre-metal Dio with Ronnie and the red caps. Don't talk to Strangers has been rumored to be written for Wendy Dio and all the affairs she had on Ronnie
Ronnie James Legend. One of the best songs off an amazing album
Great great song! Thanks for reacting. Love Dio!
Dio is a bad ass and always had great bands behind him!
dio one of the biggest metal gods
You are the reaction channel that does multiple songs from a lot of bands.. alot of other channels do a couple of songs from a band, Wich is ok but when you drive deep into a band's catalog it gives you a better sense of what the artists are really about! I am a new subscriber and hands down best reaction channel out there!!!!! Not even close. So many good metal/rock reactions that nobody else has done!!!! Thank you....
It's good to see Lex feeling the metal again. There are tons of great metal songs and bands you still haven't heard.
IN LIVE IS AMAZING
If you don't try new things you will never experience anything new and all your best friends were once strangers to.
"Don't talk to strangers" was a thing adults told kids back in the 70's. I know, different from the song, just putting it out there.
Lex needs to deconstruct this song's lyrics for her doctorate. She's off to a great start...
Dio, so good they named an Anime character after him.

My take on Ronnie's message here in this song has always been that 'nothing is ever what it appears to be. ' Love this channel!
Vivian Campbell in his prime, on guitar
One of the greatest metal songs ever
Just my opinion....RJD not only had one of the most powerful and unique voices in Rock music. But he also was a great poetic lyricist.
Whenever I bought one of his albums, I always hoped that it would have the lyrics to the songs included, so that I could actually read his poetry, before listening to it with the music.
Saw Dio in 1987 at Monsters of Rock. Was incredible even coming on after Metallica.
Lex is becoming a ROCK A HOLIC🤟🤟🤟🤟
