This covered one of the things I am worried about while traveling in winter, What If I get stuck on the opposite side of Island while we have a return ticket next day, so we can drive the whole in 8hrs, sounds like which I have done already, infact I have driven 14 hrs straight with some tea breaks ofcourse!
Great video... Well done James for driving in that! I love your Photoshop at the death spot. I wonder how many "knobheads" have died getting their perfect Insta photo! 🙄🤔📷😵
I've never been so glad I wasn't on the insurance 😬😬😬 And YEH. I know. My Icelandic mate says that the government spend a fortune rescuing tourists who try to venture out on those closed roads as often they're only closed off by a simple barrier that you could easily go past... BAH!
@@CheapHolidayExpert I hate driving in snow in this country let alone a vast white tundra where you can't see where the road ends and the sky begins. Your trip does look awesome though. Good job you had Netflix to pass the time where you were stranded though! (How DID we manage before it?!) 😂
How so? 🤣 We we’re very cautious - even stopping our trip for 24 hours. The roads were more than fine for us because we were in a car with winter tyres! You can see the two cars that had issues were tiny - definitely wouldn’t recommend driving one of those during those months!
considered teh full ring road but instead im just going to hofn and back on a nice slow trip and sped a night at kirkjufell too. the north seems too much hassle
What part of march was that? Going 21-31 march 2020. Thinking about whether or not we should do the Egilsstadir to Reykjavik drive ourselves but have little margin for delay. You guys doing it in a single day has given me some hope!
The Godafoss situation I saw all over Iceland and It’s shocking what others do for Photos in Iceland or anywhere. Snowstorms over Iceland 🇮🇸 can get pretty serious and I had exactly the same sort of weather travelling from the North to Reykjavik as you did on here. Literally whiteout.
At least in the concluding video of this island tour your loyal viewers get to see the two of you go on a serious bender in Reykjavik. Glad you survived those endless snow-covered roads!
Great effort guys! Was starting to think this holiday was turning into a detox for you guy with very little drinking then I saw the trailer for the next episode and everything was right with the world :)
You guys should come to Tampa Bay Florida. Direct flights from London. Clearwater Beach, Ybor City, St. Petersburg down town. Novembe to April is the best. Love your vlogs. Great respect for you both in how you worked as a team on the long drive. Never easy, great memories
@@CheapHolidayExpert True enough! When I was in Iceland we used some insane local company that gave us a car with rusty holes in it! Didn't notice until the next day because it was so dark!
We love an island road trip, and this series is definitely making me want to go (I say me - I like the cold...), even with the possibility of blizzards. Though that self catering budget would be smashed if you're a fussy eater! Maybe just do the happy hour instead :-)
Whilst the blizzards were a pain in the arse, it was somewhat eye opening to be controlled by the power of the weather all week. Icelandic snow takes no prisoners!! And, having watched vlogs of the road trip in the summer, I don't think it looks half as EPIC.
ALSO: I found the food situation very, very easy. Just took a bit of planning ahead (I had a meal plan and shopping list!) and as for the happy hours, I'd worked out how we could do 5 pints across 5 pubs in 5 hours for just £20 each. Was so sad we didn't get to do it!!
The Rambling Yorkshireman I believe it’s between Oct-March - basically their winters! There were two nights the lights were strong when we were there but we have really cloudy skies so didn’t see a thing!
Nothing like a snow storm to put a dampener on a budget, eh?! What do you reckon - WILL WE STILL DO IT?!!
When you are badly prepared, you should not visit Iceland at all

£1.17 FOR PRINGLES!! That is cheaper than all the shops near me.
I KNOW RIGHT?!! The Beans in Netto were cheaper than in the UK as well. I say let's go and STOCK UP!

@@sharonmc5192 I hate driving. Full stop. And yet I love road trips 😂😂😂
@@CheapHolidayExpert Yeah but it's not 'quite' the same for road trips when you are the cushy passenger doing site seeing! 😉
@@sharonmc5192 I know 🤣 Thank god James LOVES driving.
These videos are so cool! Really enjoyed the series!
You guys made some really dumb decisions in this video. Glad you made it safe tho.

If I did it again I'd give ourselves at least 8 nights - it was too rushed for 6 and even more so after the snow storm!!

Which month did u guys travel?
Just discovered your channel, guys! Really enjoyed this Iceland series and you are both hilarious! Keep it up!
Ah thanks pal!!!
This was terrifying to watch. And exhausting. Really looking forward to the next vlog you mad pair.

My girlfriend and I did the same thing last month. very nice!!
That music that was playing while you guys were driving through that snowstorm at 9:50?
Pretty sick music, ngl.
It's just something from the RUclips library!!! They've got some fairly decent stuff on there!
Atleast he is a good driver he did not slip off the road

I've been to Clearwater before and got so burnt I had to wear the same bikini for 3 days straight 🤣🤣🤣
Hi nice your video
I am from India love you video
Well done James! That looked bloody brutal!
Thank god he loves driving!!

you had car wifi ?
they would have been using mobile data with roaming so they can use it out of their home country
Definitely have to put Iceland on the bucket list of budget road trips I think!
Doo itttttttttt - just make sure you have a 4x4 😂
Oh, that’s a given! Probably stick with hostels or bnb’s to cut costs though!
When’s the best time of year to try and see the Northern Lights?

Damn!!!!, I’d be absolutely gutted!
