Im still not sure what a double take is. Noticing someone being together with someone they shouldn't be together with and then looking at them with disapproval or what? Confused.
It's when you look at something, and then just as you're looking away you suddenly realise what you saw, and look back again. So the double-take is that he looks, starts looking away, then realises it's Jamie and looks again. That's just an example of a normal double-take. This one becomes a triple because he looks, looks away, realises it's Jamie and looks back (double), looks away, realises he just saw him with somebody he shouldn't and looks again (triple).
he is doing an expression that starts with casually looking at everyone in the room, wait! I think I know that guy (the eyes turning back to look at the person again i.e. double take), nice to see him here (the smile)...but wait! he is with another man's wife (sudden realisation and look away, the triple take) - it is an acting skill through facial expression without saying a word
