    1. How many books do you have?
    2. How many of your books have you made something from it?
As you show the books answer these questions:
The ones you have made something out of...
    1. How would you rate the book? Must buy, good, ok, fair
    2. How many items have you made in it?
    3. Any tips or thoughts on the book or patterns that you can remember?
    4. What made/makes you buy a specific book? (You follow the designer/recommendation on youtube, price)
Ones you haven’t made any from
    1. Any quick thoughts about it? (Example one of mine is all diagrams!)

Hello my name is Crystal and here is a little bit about me 😀:
I live with multiple chronic illnesses that keep me bed ridden most of the time.
Crocheting and the wonderful world of yarn have become my passions keeping me somewhat sane during the battles of chronic illnesses. I hope you will follow my journey through yarn and the love of crocheting and all the possibilities it brings. Although I post video’s somewhat sporadically due to frequent flares in my illnesses, I will always be back with other videos sooner or later :-)
I really enjoy chatting and getting to know yarny friends in our wonderful community, but please be patient as my response time may be rather tardy depending on how severe my health might be on any given day. Please accept my apologies in advance.
I love making amigurumi the most, however I also really enjoy making things like sweaters, hats, afghans and anything that makes my grandkids smile! "WHATS ON YOUR HOOK?"
I’ve been in a battle for almost 15 years fighting against a host of immunological diseases. If you’re curious what my illnesses are here is my most current list, lol.
    1. Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)
    2. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS)
    3. Small Fiber Neuropathy
    4. Rosacea (Ocular too)
    5. Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
    6. Connective Tissue Disorder
    7. Fibromyalgia
    8. Possible Chron’s Disease
    9. Histamine Intolerance
Also last but not least, I love reading the Bible and the study of Gods Word. What’s your favorite Scripture verse?

I recommend Plenty of fish in the sea from olive at stringy ding ding. It is just awesome. I have been following her for a long time and was just so happy when her book came out. Last year i made over 175 stuffies. I am aiming for 375 this year. since the 17th of december i have made 28. i have only about 6 books but get most of my patterns on line. I have the rag doll book. I love it too. Made a monkey and elephant. will be making more from it also. Also have the crochet cute critters. haven't made anything from it yet. One i have that you don't is is Unicorns, dragons and more fantasy amigurumi. Just love this one. Thanks for sharing your books and opinions with us.

I’ve seen Ella at No Cathy Name and Kayla make items from the plenty if fish under the sea. Definitely needs to go on my list! I was wondering about the Unicorns & dragons one. Thank you for letting me know you love it. 🤗 They definitely are just my opinions. Others may feel totally different. I’m really interested if someone has the same ones as me how they feel about it. 😀

I have to tell you, it was because of this book tag you created that i got back into crocheting after 6 years! I am a knitter for the most part, but before i taught myself how to knit, i taught myself how to crochet. And knitting toys is why i learned how to knit. I had just ordered two crochet amigurumi books before these book tags started popping up on my feed. I saw the books i got on the screen and saw some of the beautiful dolls produced from them and had yo go stash diving to see if i could even remember how to read a crochet pattern. It worked! I made Mable the cow from Amigurumi treasures 2 and am now making the hare from enchanted woodland Amigurumi. Both are books from the same author. You have her first book! So thank you for sparking a new obsession in me!!

Helllo Crystal! What a NEAT IDEA and CHRONICLE!!!!!!!!🥳 It is something I was curious about too!!! ☺You did an amzing job with this video!!!!!I hope so much people are gonna play along!!!! I love amigurumis crochet books too, and have similars taste as you: I'm passed crocheting the easy beginner's patterns, and I prefer now a little more details in my amigurumis and not just spheres with 2 eyes , 2 arms 2 legs! 😆
Regarding the book with only chats did you know that its mostly "old school original amigurumis patterns....coming from those who invented them : Japenese crocheters!!!!!💞 Also, those symbols are "International crochets symbols" for anything crochet: baby clothes, blankets or amigurumis! So you dont have to speak Japaanese to crochet with those books! I wrote you 2 videos to first watch to begin to learn how its all working. But, I have somewhere in my computer more detailes tutorial on ALL YOU NEED to KNOW TO MAKE AMIGURUMIS with Japanese books , but I can't find them at the moments. But I'm sure if you do a little bit of research on Google AND RUclips, you will fin everything you need.
    2 good ressources on RUclips:
ruclips.net/video/PXdHKRLSJcY/видео.html (By HappyBerrycrochet) She explain the diagram especially for an amigurumipattern and after, she actually DO it while showing you on the charts where you ar. Excellent.
ruclips.net/video/z-3EOabnops/видео.html (By Mickey The crochet Crowd)="Read a crochet diagram" Mickey explain it for any charts BUT he also give very basics IMPORTANT tips, like how do you know Where you start to read, and in what diretion? etc. Excellent.
I'm ppretty sure uf you keep searching on youtube, you will find the right tutorial to nake you understand how its working. Its not very dificult. Just a little bit of "study" to know what each symbol means, and after that you are good to GO!!! really, like a lots of thing, its only paying attention at what you do and with practice you just get Better and Better!!!
I will answer you questions in another comment, I have to go count my books!!! A bg thank you for this awesome video!!!!

I usually go on Etsy and pick a pattern that I can make or change to fit my needs lol I would love to learn how to make clothes for ami dolls. I know that Pamela Loves Crochet makes cute ones for 18" dolls but I am not sure I can size them down to fit the smaller dolls or not. I am not chronically ill but for the last six years (since I stopped working) I have been basically a shut in, I don't have a car and borrowing my grandsons is a real hassle LOL People seem to like me but since I don't push myself to go out they kinda drifted away ;) I really didn't realize how bad it was until I started to go out more. The anxiety is so stressful that the next day I am exhausted mentally and physically. But when I am home with my son (and cat) and I am crocheting or crafting and watching my yarny friends I am calm and happy. It is all a mental thing but I think those are the harder things to get pass. ;) Much love Crystal, I love your perseverance! ❤❤❤

Great video 🙂 and I loved seeing what books you had and hearing all about them. I have to say as soon as I saw that Dinosaur book I was in love ❤ I just have to get that one. So I've taken screenshots and I'll be off to look later to see if I can find it, hopefully I can get it in the UK as its a book I know I'd love. Funnily enough the reason I'm inspired by it is my husband was out doing errands in our small town and came across this window display of amigurumi, and it was a scene of Dinosaurs and he took a photo for me (I still have it). So when I saw that book it totally reminded me of this and I've been wanting to make Dinosaurs like this ever since I saw the display so this book will be perfect 👌.
I too suffer from a chronic illness, I cannot walk or weight bear and the only way I can get out of my hospital bed (in my own room at home) is to be hoisted into my specialised wheelchair or my reclining armchair. I still have to spend most of my time in bed, can't even move/turn myself and my husband is my full time carer. I love crochet especially amigurumi and like you I have many books, sadly most I've not made from but thats only due to lack of time and energy....of which I'm sure you can relate too 😔. I must wrap up this message now as I'm exhausted and my illness means I have to sleep a lot and my body is screaming at me to do so. So I must finish this up but I just wanted to reply as I enjoyed your video and I also really related to what you said at the end too, I'm just like you and I've not had a friend face to face for a very long time. With this condition it sure does make it hard 😔 and it definitely makes you feel really paranoid as I second guess myself all the time so I really do understand ❤.
Right I must go now, hope this finds you on a day thats not too awful for you and I'll definitely be a follower of your channel now 🙂 and as and when I can check out some more of your previous (and new) videos.
    Take care of yourself x

I have several of those amigurumi book kits. Did the Disney Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse from the kit. OMG! Would not recommend for beginner. Many parts, lots of joining, need to keep aware of what is the leg and arm, as I put a leg on as an arm and when I realized , it was difficult to undo and attach correctly. So label the parts ! Parents were impressed with the items, not sure the Gkids were. I intend to do the Harry Potter kits next, but the Disney so wore me out it has been difficult to get my brain open to going back to the kits. Oh yeah I forgot about the patterns being written a little odd in the Pokemon crochet book, I ended up going through and jotting my own wording next to them so that I didn't have to try go line by line with it lol. Like for the one you read about "2 single crochet in each 2nd single crochet" I just scribbled next to it "(Sc, Inc)" Not a big deal, but it does help for being able to imerse myself into the pattern if I can read and understand it without thought.
That doll book with the outfits are so cute, but that is crazzzzy that the patterns are graphs and charts 😵‍💫 that definitely needs to be made clear on the cover!! I have never seen that before!

Frozen book- I made Olaf from it, I did follow the pattern. Nutcracker- I want to make the reindeer, haven't found time. All three were given to me by my sister. She likes to encourage me in my crocheting. I like to make my own patterns. If I don't like something about a pattern, I change it! Your reaction about chart patterns is very annoying and ignorant. In Asian countries this is the usual practice of presenting patterns as writing patterns with a logogram would be way too complicated. Charts are a very common method at amigurumi books, because guess what, amigurumi is Japanese art. To dramatise that someone is lying to you just because they did not assume that you believe english is the only language on which should be written patterns, is very frustrating for me as a foreigner.

    • @chronicallycrocheting
      @chronicallycrocheting  Год назад

Your reaction to my reaction is very annoying and ignorant as well. You could have told me in a kind way how the Japanese started this, it’s the beginnings of crocheting Amigurumi and many people in other countries use it. I realize there is a ton of things I don’t know however being kind is universal. I didn’t mean to offend however you did, there is a difference. I’m ok with being taught and corrected however not in the way you did it. To me this was extremely hard and not easy LIKE THEY SAID…... It looks like algebra and math isn’t easy for everyone (especially a chronically sick person). Lots of time marketing isn’t universal. In America this book would not be considered easy because we don’t use charts. Sorry I am not up to your high standards and guess what, I’m not perfect. Oh by the way I haven’t done a vlog in a month because I have been suffering terribly and not sure I can endure another day of it….thanks so much for your unkind comment.
