I've had my manga story in my head for over a decade, I'm finally making a start on it. Very new to screen tones and paneling but I'm about 6 pages through so far. Your advise has been really helpful.
DAMN!!! same thing, i've beenholding and developing the lore of 5 of my series for 6 years!!! we just want to make the story interesting and hooking :)
"In my head for over a decade" that sounds awful. We all have things we've always wanted to do, you can do *everything* don't make this comment just to continue procrastinating. This comment is 2 years old now did you make a manga? The odds of that being a yes are quite low. I can think of endless "cool manga ideas" but the only reality is if you actually make one that actually works and I'd well stitched together through the pages
You really opened my eyes. I saw a video about the "dark truth of manga artists" and almost gave up. But then I searched "how to make a living from manga" and you showed up. What I see is that Patreon is a great plataform for us artists get our money and interact with the fans. Thank you so much!
I'd argue that its actually far easier to make money with an online comic than through self publishing or getting into traditional publishing. Theres so many avenues to draw income toward an online comic with a little creativity~. Comics are a harder sell as an ebook nowadays since webcomics are so readily available, and print books come with their own large expenses with promotion or stock. Online is the way to go for sure for any beginner.
I think all methods come with their own challenges, but I do agree that it can be easier making money with an online comic! 😊 Though I think a lot of the way a manga in any form can succeed, is through the marketing. So in order to make money through an online comic, the promotion would be very important. For a beginner manga/comic creator, I agree that online is the way to go!
problem is, unless you make a hit and get multiple million views, you won't get paid enough to live out of that alone, even on a third world country where you can live with way less
@@LightVelox absolutely true. Such is the life of a starving artist... its def not an endeavor you go into to make money, but to share your work to the world. Its a shame but the markets totally oversaturated.
Apologies for commenting on an older video, but I only discovered your channel today. Thank you so much for generously sharing this, it’s a brilliant video; super-helpful, concise and greatly appreciated. I wish you well in your work 🙏
In the self publishing there is also taxes and many other payments to keep in mind. The money editors give authors in France is minimum 10 k per book. If you make 3 books you get 30 k per year minimum. If you have 15 k book deal, your revenue is 45 k per year.
If you give your characters a birthday and make art of the characters telling them happy birthday your fans will spread the news like a wildlife getting you more readers
Great advice, thanks Midnight. My first view on your channel 😁 just started my own channel #faterarts & drawing comic is my next venture this year... Love too hear more from you. 🤗
I just finished my first volume of my manga !! Lilith! I just finished it and is now for sale on Amazon!!! And I can put a memory in all your recommendations♥️ now is about making part 2 and go on!!
I'm making my own manga that is based like demon slayer, one punch man, jujutsu kaisen, and there are references but i think it will be a bad Idea but most of the reference is demon slayer, i'm not a big fan of kimetsu but in my manga, the uniforms, swords, fighting styles ( breathing style but it's more different ), lore and some places, etc. I dont think this is gonna be Shonen but i already made 1 book.
Can you do this with a light novel as well, I will create the format and cover first so you won't forget your ideas. Trust me I had forgotten so much of my ideas that I lost count and I got back my roleplay hobbies to cheer me up but to be honest my hobbies are distractions. Goblin Slayer did that before....
@@midnightXcross It wasn't much for a suggestion I ask for questions. Should start with a romance instead of an isekai or should create a fantasy world that isn't an isekai I always want to create a dark fantasy but never have the guts to do it besides I change my mind a lot and I worry my dark fantasy ideas would get death threats. If I do with light novels or novels how I do it?
I want to write and publish my manga but at the moment I’m trying to go to law school. Is it still possible to publish my manga and still have a second job?
Is a one shot the same as a mini comic? Because I'm doing manga on the side. But doing mini stories of my longer manga and studying for my degree (not at the moment).
So, I definitely loved the video. I've actually had a webcomic I've been dabbling with for a few years. The basic premise is RugratsXDragons. Five little dragon hatchlings discovering their world while they grow up. I'm glad I found your channel and will definitely continue on my webcomic. Seeing your art and watching your videos are inspiring to me.
Thank you so much! I love the idea for your webcomic. It sounds like the kind of story I would love to read! 😊 Thank you again. I am so happy that my videos help you! Keep up the great work!!

Midnight, you're a baller! :D This was helpful and informative, thank you for your tips! I enjoyed this one very much! My day job is not that creative, the hours are long but flexible in terms of days and also pays very well enough.. And still, I just can't stop thinking about quitting, exploring what's out there, and ultimately making the leap to being a full time freelance artist. Then self-publishing as many book as I can. Isn't it crazy? Am I going to crazy? Anyways.. Wait, the background music is 'Path of the Wind' from Totoro, isn't? Awesome taste in music I can tell.. P.S.: There was an belgian comic and later cartoon series in the 80s called "Les Schtroumpfs" or "The Smurfs" in lot of other countries by a belgian artist named Peyo. Well, I'm just bringing it up because your eye color reminds me of the classic Smurfs blue color. It's a very beautiful color and very very pretty eyes all together!! Or, I wonder, how would YOU describe the color of your eyes? Take care and best regards, Dan!
Thank you very much! I'm really happy you enjoyed the video 😊 I think it's very important to live life to the fullest, in a job that you enjoy. I mean, it's certainly my dream. I think it's the dream of any author/artist. And I fully believe that you can achieve it! And yes, the background music is a mix of various Studio Ghibli songs. I think they are very calming and relaxing! I've never heard that my eyes are like the Smurfs blue color, but I am glad you think so. Thank you!! 😂😂 All the best to you and your creations!!
