Awesome! The 464 is such an awesome looking machine. I have a 464 that I need to get to, so this perhaps is the lock I need.

Thanks for watching, Adrian! Yeah, there's just some sort of charm about the CPC 464 that the later CPCs don't seem to have (even though I'd still love a 6128 one day). Can't wait to see an Amstrad on your channel.

Interesting I did not know the AWA and Amstrad connection, thank you. Would love to see the story of AWA if you ever make it. They had some solid kit that had sound better than Sony and equipment that just ran for decades. Many people see AWA mast at Wynyard without knowing what or who.
Never saw or heard of anyone with an Amstrad when I was young. Never saw them sold in Dick Smith or Tandy (that I can remember) so just learning about them today.

I deleted my initial reply, because the coffee hadn't kicked in yet. I saw "sounds better than Sony" and I thought you meant Aiwa! 🤦‍♂🤣 Looks like I'll need to spend the first minute of this hypothetical doco disambiguating AWA and Aiwa!
Yeah... the AWA story is a wild ride. TBH it'd probably take the best part of a year just to do the research... and whenever I go to Sydney, I love seeing the AWA Building and Tower. It's a stunning piece of art deco architecture. I bet it would have been even more impressive before it was dwarfed by modern skyscrapers.
Amstrad stuff was sold mainly through big department stores and electrical retailers, because these places had been selling AWA stuff for decades. I grew up in Adelaide, which means Amstrads were sold in places like John Martins and Radio Rentals. But I suspect someone in Sydney would've bought their first Amstrad from somewhere like Grace Bros or Bing Lee.

@@OzRetrocomp LOL no mate, you are right. I got AIWA and AWA confused. Not in terms of quality though. Had seen some very old AWA TV's last the decades.

That was a fantastic video! Great job!
I had the dubious pleasure of cleaning a couple of 464's last summer. I'll probably make a video about it at some point 🤣 but I've thing I learned was the keys are so much easier to remove from the back side. It's just pushing those clips that hold them in place and they fall out.
Great work mate. Lots of lovely humour and personality, just the way I like em!

Cheers, Lee! Yeah, in hindsight I would've undone the clips holding the plastic frame to the metal back plate from the get go.

Very cool! Reminds me I need to drag mine out and give it a clean up. Can’t seem to get it loading anything from tape.

Yup. I love the 464 too. Hence why I gave the 128 to Mark. Kinda like the Electron. I like the Beeb, but I love the Elk.
Great video mate. Hope to see more.

Cheers Jase! I know full well why I like the 464 better... it _looks_ cooler. We both known it all it takes to make a 464 into something that'll keep up with the 6128 is a DDI-5, a decent video cable and the right power supply.

@@TheRetroChannel As per the video, Clarkson said the 6128 is brilliant... fun fact (that you probably already knew): Clarkson's first computer was an Amstrad CPC 6128.

@@OzRetrocomp I did not know that, but now I would like to see him run his farm from a 6128. And yes, the 464 looks way cooler. Nice job on the resto

@@TheRetroChannel Yeah, Jezza's first computer was a 6128. He apparently bought it to help his (short lived) career as a games reviewer. Chinny made an interesting video about it; it's over on Chinnyvision 2.
