    In Hindu pantheon, mother earth is worshiped as we Bhumi Devi. Before dancing, the dancer asks permission from Mother Earth and in the end, pays gratitude to the goddess by doing the "Bhumi Pranam".
    This video contains a detailed description of the way Bhumi Pranam is done in Odissi dance.
