I WAS intimidated by cooking a whole brisket. I researched and researched. Took careful note of the common techniques and discarded the all the one-off gimmicky crap. When l finally had the guts to do my first one, it turned out perfect. It was the best smoked brisket I'd ever had. It does take some planning and a bit of time. But it's really nothing to be intimidated by. It's really the most satisfying thing a backyard chef can prepare.

Brisket is a process lol not just sear on each side a few minutes and finish in the oven for 5. A lot of people don't do the research and just wing it.

The pricing of red meat is so all over the place. Where my parents live, leg of lamb at Costco costs less than ground beef at some stores. Not even sure if the Walmart near them carries brisket anymore

I am making Walmart whole briskets they cost less than ground beef. Brisket is so rich flavorful and delicious I only use Redmonds Salt. I followed a recipe online to bake it at 250 degrees it takes a long time. I love having chunks of brisket and chuck roast in my freezer. I shred mozzarella place it in circles on parchment bake it for 12 minutes 350 degrees, taco shells.

I actually saved money on groceries when I was on carnivore. I would make a chuck roast (or whatever else I could find on sale) in the crock pot every couple days. I would also eat ground beef and eggs. Shopping on carnivore is much simpler, you are only buying 3 or 4 things so you are saving time as well as money.

Done quite a few briskets on my smoker and even though the whole piece of meat may seem expensive the amount of meat per dollar is not. Also you can take any leftovers and freeze them to make chili with. So delicious. One problem with the bigger briskets and figuring out that final cook time as it could be 12 plus hours. Meatchurch does a video about an overnight one that you set the temp to 200 and put the brisket on before you go to bed. In the morning adjust temp to try to finish when you want. That works out great.
Are you going to do pork butt? Just did two today in three different ways and the price per pound is so cheap but so much flavor.

Looks Larapin good to me! I buy briskets from Sam's Club and I only cook them in a large-ish crock pot. I just trim it some like you do, season it on all sides, cut it in half and put the big end in for an hour then toss in the small end. Crock it for 8 hours or so. I don't have a smoker and I never want to have my oven on for 8-10 hours. LOL!

  • @Barbarra63297

I make my own corned beef from brisket and we can't get nitrates here so you don't get the pink color, it just looks like a regular cooked roast but the flavor is spot on corned beef. So you don't have to use nitrates if you don't care whether the meat is pink or not.

I eat chuck roast as steak. Apparently it next to ribeye and the first few cuts are more ribeye then chuck roast. There's a more than a few videos detailing how to id the right cuts at the market. I just go for the smallest one they have that looks like a steak. The whole chuck roast starts off small then gets wider. The steaks are in the small part at the begining. The best ones are more tender than any ribeye i ever had. At its $3.99-5.99 a lb. The misses i just butterfly it like a chicken breast and use meat tenderizer.

I recently came up with a surprisingly decent meal to use up a small chuck of steak I had. And it's ridiculously simple too: Budget Beef and Broccoli! All you need is a small chunk of meat (Mine was the size of an altoids tin), a box of Beef Rice, and a bag of Walmart frozen brocolli.
Season the meat with garlic salt, onion salt, and black pepper. Cook to your preference using whatever method you like (I broiled mine)
Prepare the beef rice according to the box instructions. When the rice has only 5 minutes left, microwave the broccoli.
When everything is done, plate up the rice, add the broccoli on top, then slice up the steak thinly and layer onto the broccoli. Sprinkle with with Soy sauce and enjoy.

The real drags on the taxpayers are the illegals who suck up services, including Social Security, without ever having contributed or paid taxes for those services.

Some carnivores won't each bacon because of that. Dr. Ken Berry (if you're not familiar with him he's one of the carnivore gurus) says that our saliva has more nitrates (or was it nitrites?) than bacon so eat up and don't worry about them.

Hey Larry, really glad to see you’re back at it! I started carnivore last year and chimed in as you were one of my biggest inspirations. I was someone who was in pretty great shape for most of his adult life, but between getting into my first home, Covid, losing my mom, getting married; I ate like crap and stopped exercising.
When I started in late July last year, I was 235 lbs and really not feeling my best. I had very little energy and just was tried of feeling sick and tired. Doing carnivore has been a life changer for me! I do OMAD and I eat about 1.5 lbs of food a day. I went from doing 30 min walks every day last July to now being in the gym 6x a week. I lost 65 lbs and I’m in the best shape of my adult life; putting lean muscle back on. To the naysayers, and those who think beef is unhealthy; I’ve had two physicals and bloodwork done and my doctor has been impressed by how good all my vitals are.
Sorry if this is coming across as a book or an essay; I just really want to thank you for all you do and making people aware of this diet. I can’t state how much it’s helped me out, how easy it’s been to stick with and how great I feel. I appreciate you showing people it can also be done on a budget too!
God bless you and your family and I hope you continue to thrive!

@@sauersaxon food loses weight when cooked. Eating 4-5 burger patties, a big steak, 6-8 eggs with a side of bacon or sausage. 1.5lbs cooked is more than you think. I’m also having dairy as well in my one meal a day.
Every body, key word being body, is different. I’ve packed on a good amount of lean muscle as mentioned. As I put on more muscle, I’ll likely need to eat more. As it stands now, I’m very content with what I’m eating and don’t find myself hungry. I’m also not bony either

I was looking into the carnivore diet, are you aware of the health risks associated with eating a bunch of high fat meats? You increase your odds of heart disease, you deprive your body of certain minerals and vitamins, and it can cause issues with Digestive Health.
Not trying to tell you your business, but you may want to put some veggies in there. Like some healthy fats are anything made from vegetables which is great for the cholesterol

  • @megandonahue9220

I avoided brisket because there was so much fat on it but now i render my own tallow along with canning corned beef, or plain brisket. Render that excess fat into tallow and you have close to a 90% yields.

  • @EastSider48215

Alas, the carnivore diet is not for me. Due to my digestive issues, I’d be curled up in agony about 15 minutes after I ate the first four ounces. I can eat some meat, but it’s more like an ounce or so a couple of times a week. Those of youse who are able to tolerate a carnivore diet - more power to you!
