🚨 UPDATE 🚨 I did a little digging and verified that the graffiti design is in fact Namco Bandai's 45th anniversary graphics design. pacman.com/en/news/?p=5081
Totally, tired of having a postage stamp sized screen on these things. I think a lot of people would be happy paying extra to have a 10 inch screen on something like this.
@@Larry I understand from MA that there's a dearth of available mid-size screens at a mass-market price, but there's gotta be a solution that doesn't undermine the screen-to-body ratio with such a tiny display.
About that tiny screen: Don’t they know that we generation Xers are getting older and have less than perfect eyesight? 😂 Thanks for the sneak peek and commentary Jon!
Maybe thei're going the TMNT Cowabunga collection route by including multiple ports of the same game to fulfill the nostalgia of those who played mainly on consoles.
Is the Mighty Player just a renamed Super/Mega Player (which they announced last year but haven't released)? I think they're just hiding what the marquee looks like for now, so I wouldn't assume it doesn't light up yet. The size of the screen in relationship to the cab is a huge concern though. Not a fan of the side panel artwork; too busy.
While I like the idea of including later Pac-Man games, the execution is a huge miss. The screen is too small and if they're using console ROMs then that's a huge no from me. Hopefully they're listening to feedback because they need to go back to the drawing board with this one. I've only recently started buying their products and I've enjoyed them. Just got the Space Invaders premium player and it's already one of my favorites next to the Street Fighter II CE and Pole Position players.
I need a machine that plays: Baby PAC-Man, Mr. & Mrs. PAC-Man (Even if they are digital), PAC-Man, Mrs.Pac-Man, Jr. PAC-Man, Pac-Man Plus, PAC & Pal, Super PAC-Man, Pacmania, PacLand, Both PAC-Man Arrangements, PAC-Man Tournament, Pac-Man Battle Royale, & PAC-World.
Loving what my arcade is putting out lately. Hoping they’ve just whetted our appetite with this one & it’s more promising than they’ve let on. Maybe the black marquee is LED and changes with whatever is being played? One can hope. Just subscribed- looking forward to your videos from CES.
It feels like a product a committee would make with the financial department getting the final say. Just put a bigger screen that way you can accommodate both vertical and horizontal games and use the extra space for a digital bezel. either make the low end impulse buy toy, or make the expensive, but good, collector/display piece. Middle of the road won't satisfy anyone.
You can never have enough Pac-man when you discover it comes in the form of a Pacman Pro Arcade Pinball machine. I bought two of them lol, quick review, Loud but very Awesome! 👍 Thanks for sharing some more My Arcade. Looking forward to your hands on at CES25! 🤘🤘🏆
I don't know if that second image is as reliable as it could be. The buttons seemed to be completely blacked out, which tells me there's some editing going on there.
I wonder if there is difficulty sourcing specific sizes/aspect ratios for screens that size? I make car diagnostic devices, and there aren’t many screen options available in the 3.5” to 7” screen range. Just a thought. Thanks
It's funny that you should ask. I've spoken at length about this with my good friends at My Arcade, and that's the conundrum they face. Unfortunately, the end consumer doesn't weigh challenging screen sourcing very heavily into their buying decisions. 😜
If the screen were bigger, taking up more of the actual case, and the joystick were centered for people who don't like playing left handed, I could definitely put it on my wish list. The build quality looks nice and heavy.
With all of these types of units they need to make the screen edge to edge. Would add to the playability. Also, how hard is it to just pop in a cheap led behind a transparent marquee. It would add so much so make it a true show piece and help it stand out from the rest.
@@GenXGrownUp I'm trying to think of Pacman titles that take two buttons, and all I can think of is Pac-Land---which takes three buttons, not two. You've probably forgotten more about Pacman than I'll ever know; can you think of any Pacman titles that take two buttons? I'm having a tough time coming up with any Namco titles that take two buttons besides Xevious, Rolling Thunder, and Dig Dug II, let alone Pacman titles.
This product is concerning on many levels. For those that say you praise a product just because they send you free stuff, you should refer to this video. Hopefully they will do what they have done in the past and address the things that you and others have mentioned. Take notes, My Arcade.
This looks like it could be amazing. Then again it could be garbage. I'm digging the side artwork, it's fresh. MyArcade really needs to push to get genuine arcade roms in their machines. Looking forward to your impressions of this in the coming weeks 👍
Is this the same person who has posted about ten times in separate comments? I reply to so many comments I can't keep track of them all unless you REPLY rather than posting your reply as a new comment. Since your question has nothing to do with the video you're posting it on, it can be extra challenging. Yes, the wireless CX-78 controller will work with any device which uses a 9-pin controller plug.
Well, if this is what the production machine looks like I will be passing. The graffiti graphics look ridiculous, no marquee light and that tiny screen... My 6 & 8 yr old nephews think it looks stupid and my 18 & 19 yr old kids are tired of "the graffiti look" on everything. And these opinions were not influenced by me as I wanted an honest assessment(s).
I’m sure it’s not the arcade Rom and the screen seems very tiny. There comes a point where I have enough Pacman devices like this that all do the same. Sorry John, I’m a hard pass at this unless it’s $10. Keep up the good work. I just wanted to be honest! Love the channel!
Love your content and looking forward to what you find out about Atari’s upcoming products! Still waiting for more info on the Atari gamestation portable
At this point, i dont think they're going to pursue making the Atari Gamestation Remix. That would've been cool, with the redefined joystick and better button placement.
Hopefully they keep that graffiti on the side but will have a vastly different product to showcase next week. Also, I hope Mrs. Pac or whatever they're now calling Ms. PacMan will be among the games. I know a lot of people who say Ms. PacMan is their favorite arcade game. It's very good but Joust is No. 1 with me.
That's concerning frankly on this one I would wait for Word of Mouth by friends. As another commenter pointed out created by committee seems just about right.
Too much bezel around the screen unused. Bigger screen would have been much better / proper. Joystick on the left side? Not a good idea imo. The arcade stick centered was the way to go. I play Pac Man with my right hand. P.S. I hate fins on an arcade machine of any size.
If you are going to make a ahem, cab of super Pacman and don’t use the super Pacman logo with Pacman in a cape, you haven’t a clue. That is the best of that cabinet in my opinion. Major miss…
Why do the screens keep getting smaller? I would pay for a quality device with a screen at least 6-8" depending on the game type. I dont care how cheap the tiny screens are. Im not buying.
The screens are staying the same as the units get bigger! Apparently there's a gap in the market for screens in the 6-9" range. Bigger is easy and smaller is easy, and My Arcade struggles with sourcing of something in the middle.
If it's not a big old tube tv screen with the original rom and everything else in good state, I don't want it!!!! Tried every app, consol and even some big arcade cabinets, it's not the same and not even good in another way, I'm out.😢 Now and then I will play a lousy copy just to remember that it's not it and I'll mis the original, never buy some again.
Meh. Not a fan of the side panel graffiti artwork. Way too “busy” in my opinion. And yeah, not a fan of that joystick or small screen either. Hopefully these things will be improved before it’s actually released.

I'm going to put this as politely as I can, I am really not sure what Bandai Namco has been up to lately.

There are ways to make a cool-looking graffiti design. This side art definitely is not it!
