I haven’t tried those before - I’ll have to keep my eye out. I did do the “smart sweets” brand of gummies before and they did nothing in the freeze dryer, but not sure if the ingredients are similar to yum earth
I wonder if you squish the jelly beans so that they have cracks in them, if they would freeze dry better. The gummy bears look awesome. The freeze dryer seems like a great way to get kids to eat less candy. You can give them 1 gummy bear & they'll think they hit the jackpot. :)
My gummy mini sharks EXPLODED only like a hour in- had to cancel, turn off, pull the whole thing out and clean it all. Ugh! Not the best first ever candy run but the rest of my candies turned out great:) 😵💫🤪
Oh, yeah, I forgot. I freeze-dry my candy for 7 hours. Once candy or anything is dry it can't get any dryer so not to worry but it helps to get those larger candies to dry.
Good morning, we hva been having the same issues with candy not puffing up. After having some time experimenting, what candies have been working for you the best for you?
@DIYfreezedry the skittles have turned out great everytime. The gummy clusters once were a little chewy. Kind of hit and miss with them. Saltwater taffy has been a sucess just as much as the skittles. Might have to give the M&M's a try. Just trying to get some more ideas for variety. Thank you for you advise, hope you freeze drying is going great! Just getting started here :)
@@cadys04 I haven’t but usually anything with chocolate I don’t pre warm or do any oven warming bc it makes it too messy…. So I’d try just regular candy mode settings. Then when it’s done, don’t take them out right away. The freeze dryer will cool back down and the chocolate will reset and it is way less messy 😄
@@chellegates9253 you can only do this with a freeze dryer, they cost alot more than a dehydrator but a freeze dryer has a vacuum pump built in which is what causes the candy to puff up.
I haven’t tried Oreos yet - my kids keep asking me to so I need to! I would probably do a full freeze dry cycle on those. I have done mini cupcakes before and ran on normal cycle, so I’m guessing would be similar but not totally sure!
@@DIYfreezedry Thanks so much. I just purchased a Harvest Freeze Drier in October. Love your videos. So helpful. I’ll let you know how I make out. Might try making them this weekend.
Loving the candy, loving the tips, loving the pink, loving YOU diy freeze dry! Keep slaying 😍

Resently found your channel! Love your videos! ❤️ Hoping to buy my Harvest Right soon 😫.
Thanks for being here! It will be so fun when you get one 🥰🥰
I have the HR silicone mats. I love them.
Those ones look nice I want to try them out!
Do yum earth candies work in the freeze dryer? I have a granddaughter that can’t have food dyes.
I haven’t tried those before - I’ll have to keep my eye out. I did do the “smart sweets” brand of gummies before and they did nothing in the freeze dryer, but not sure if the ingredients are similar to yum earth
Those gummy bears look amazing haha
Too funny 😂

That’s totally my thinking too - they think they’re getting more, when really it’s less!!
I hate using parchment paper so I have found that Amazon has silicon mats you can use. I love them and will not go back to parchment.
Awesome - I do have a set of silicone mats I use a lot for foods, but don’t use much with candy I should use those more

Skittles always great - caramel m&ms, big hunks are probably my favorite!!! Nerds gummy clusters (pink bag) are good too

So that crabby paddy, to fix that would you run longer or turn temp up more?
@@mcmxcau probably needed more time is my guess
Where do you purchase the Big Hunk candy?

Thanks!
I so appreciate you - thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Have you figured out how to keep the gummies from exploding? I had the same problem.
@@RhondaEdwards-ri5xu I think these exploded so much bc I warmed them ….
Have you freeze dried circus peanuts?
If you put the candy in the oven what temp and for how long?? Thanks!
@@cadys04 usually 220 for like 10 mins, you want them to start to get melty but normally melt
@@DIYfreezedry thank you! Have you ever tried York Peppermint Patties? I can’t figure out if I need to put them in the oven first or not!

Have you freeze dried Oreos. If so did you use candy mode?
Are dehydraters the same as freeze dryers? My son wants to start doing this but we can't find anything but dehydraters

Where do I find the links?
Right under the video title click more… then there’s a video description and another place to click “see more” then scroll and links are there 😃
Do you put oxygen absorbers in those bags or just seal them?
No absorbers I just heat seal them closed and they are good for 4-6 months 👍🏻
Thank you!
How do you do peach rings my puff up like the gummy bears ?
I am still struggling with peach rings.... I usually do the same settings but no pre heating
Where did you get the freeze drier?

The gummy bears 😱
Haha so crazy
I don’t see a link to the precut parchment paper.
Shoot! Thanks for letting me know I knew I was forgetting something let me grab it
