There is an Underwater Garden. It’s basically a tide pool but it’s on slate (?) . So it’s a smooth flat area that is affected by low and high tides, the animals have etched holes in the rock over the years so it has little pools. It’s quite amazing. There is (or was) a bird wildlife center where injured or sick birds are rehabilites and eventually released. They have a barn that the birds can fly safely in to gain strength. A viewing stand is on the ends of the barn so you can watch them.
Love tide pools. As a kid, sand bars were the place to discover. And of course low tide. Love hermit crabs. Aww. Star fish. Will he stay safe? Beautiful purple star fish. Wow. So many star fish. I’ve never seen any in nature. We used to find sand dollars. Jelly fish I’m used to seeing. Nice to hear that kid on the background so excited to see sea urchins. I needed this. Stuck at a TT RV Park with some cows and Sandhills Cranes only. 😫 we prefer more natural settings. Can’t wait to get going. Are the sea stars protected by your government? Love underwater shots. Oh. I see the urchin moving! Sea slug or muscle that unidentifiable thing? Thank you so much for sharing this. What beauty. Alice
I've lived in Campbell River for 30 years and used to go out to the reef every summer when our Daughter was young but haven't been out there in 20 years, time to check it out again Thank you. Another place we used to go at low tide was Seal Bay.
Very good video. So interesting. I live next to Lake Superior, and love to walk around and look for things. We have so many streams that drain into the lake and what is called St Louis River. You can find many amazing things around. You should make Duluth a stop and spend time. So much to see up and down the shores. Again, great video.
Here on the Bras d'Or estuary, on the east coast, we tend to call the Lion's Mane jellyfish, "bloodsuckers". They don't suck blood but they do sting. We also have moon jellyfish. They are clear with whitish outlines of some structures. Thanks for sharing some really cool shots. Such beautiful colours in the marine life. amazing sighting of the strange "sea monster" at the end!
The thing that was underneath the crevice that you didn’t know what is was is a Christmas Anemone.PS the sea stars that were not ochre sea stars,AKA purple sea stars were leather sea stars an endangered spices of sea star.
There were some very small anemones and then that large orange and yellow thing was one as well we think. Octopus must have been hiding really well. :)
Those Lions Mane Jellies freak me out everytime i see them here in North Van. I always think it's going to jump up and pull me in, like a horror movie!!
I watched a video last year that explained how one species of starfish was being replaced by another species because it was more susceptible to the "wasting" virus. There have been some major changes that are not apparent to the casual observer (of which i an one). Good to see Anne out and enjoying the beach. Cheers.
Beautiful! The sound of the water was so relaxing!! What happens to the critters that end up exposed with no water to be in? Thank you both for sharing!! :O)
Likely need some sea otters around there, they love urchins. The otters were almost hunted out but they are making a comeback on the west coast of the island.
Its not a lake its the ocean located near Campbell River, BC, *not* Victoria. Its only accessible at very low tides. www.loveyourrv.com/exploring-the-vancouver-island-tide-pools-willow-point-reef/ Cheers, Ray

Wow! Never seen a purple starfish b4! Fantastic!❤️
Beautiful tidal pool; thank you for capturing this & sharing.
Thanks, Ray, for letting us tag along with you and Anne on your tide pool exploration. I could just about smell the fresh air!
You're welcome. :)
Beautiful video, thank you so much!! Such rich colors!
What an awesome place. Can't wait to visit someday.
I long for the moment I return to the Qualicum-Courtney-Comox area again...Man the density of LIFE in them waters!

Thanks Ray! Beautiful and fascinating.

Yeah they are really cool to explore. I don't think the Sea Stars are protected but could be wrong.
WOW great colours looks fun !!
Keep the sunny side up!!!!
Fascinating tide pools. Very colorful. The underwater cam was super cool. ~Lucy

Loved the tide pools! Thanks for sharing this with us!
I certainly enjoyed that journey Ray & Ann. Nice relaxing music to help make the video a great stress break!
Hi. Thank you very much appreciate 🙏👍
Absolutely beautiful. What a great display of the Creator's handiwork! I love the coast and all it has to offer. Thanks for taking us along.
Great tour, thank you!
Great video, Ray. Thanks. One of our favorite pastimes when we get to Hawaii is to do exactly what you did. So much to see.
THAT WAS AMAZING!!! Now on my list of places to visit. Thanks.
Thank you. Will have to add this island to my bucket list

Awesome !!!

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to try to make it up there next year if things are back to "normal" and the border is open.
I love tidepooling. What a fun spot to visit. The underwater video was great. No anemones or octopus?
There were some very small anemones and then that large orange and yellow thing was one as well we think. Octopus must have been hiding really well. :)
Excellent. :-))))) :-)))))
Sea urchin is some good eats!
That was fun. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a tide pool - living in Colorado ;-). Love the ocean though

Love your videos Ray. I believe your mystery critters are sea anemones?
Ya, Anne looked it up and found some anemones that had the same coloring.
I had no idea!
Greetings from NZ. Love your vlogs especially the underwater type.1 question how long is the pole on your go pro that u use.🇳🇿❤️
Its an adjustable hiking pole that has a camera mounting screw on the top, can extend to about 5 feet long. Cheers! Ray
Beautiful! Will the starfish die after being out of the water? Thank you for sharing?
Being an inter-tidal creature they can survive for a short time out of water, like a few hours or so I think.
@@LoveYourRV Thank you! I didn't know that a purple star fish even existed....amazing! Thank you!
Beautiful! The sound of the water was so relaxing!!
What happens to the critters that end up exposed with no water to be in?
Thank you both for sharing!! :O)
If too long some will dry out and die or get picked off by birds and stuff. Most though are adapted to live in the inter tidal zone and survive fine.
How long do those critters survive out of the water? Great video I found it quite interesting!
Must be just a few hours as most of them were only at the very lowest parts of the beach, not closer in where the tide stays out much longer.
Nicely done. Thanks for the beauty ! Try eliminating all words and just leave the music track.
So beautiful! Thanks so much for the tour! Is a person aloud to pick starfish & dry out somehow?
You're welcome. I'm not sure about that.
thanks Ray.
it looks like the eaters of sea stars and sea urchins are missing from this ecosystem.
Likely need some sea otters around there, they love urchins. The otters were almost hunted out but they are making a comeback on the west coast of the island.
Which spot is this? Thank you for sharing.
It's a reef on the ocean beach in front of the Willow Point area of Campbell River, British Columbia goo.gl/maps/rKXnDPVtMQANTMhr8
I’m going to Vancouver this week and it’s rainy do you know if I will still find some cool tide pool creatures?
You might if you go to the beach at low tide.
Hi , please thank you very much which lake ? Victoria BC
