How to Create Strat-O-Matic Basic Version Baseball Cards: Part 1 of 4

- Disclaimer: This is intended to round out fringe players, make favorite teams that are hard to find or. ever even printed, even to evaluate players from the current season and predict what next year's card might look like. Might come in handy for your keeper league. This uses formulae created by consumers so there will always be a swing in accuracy, from 5-8% perhaps. Nowhere the in depth research conducted by Hal, etc. So, grain of salt, guys and gals.
This is part 1 of a 4-part series. We will be using a spreadsheet (for this instance, Google Sheets) in conjunction with Baseball Reference's website and Bruce Bundy's old Strat Fan articles. In later videos we will cover creating a hitter's card, a pitching card and have a wrap up video with thoughts and 'Comment' questions being answered at that time as well as on this video..
This can be a deep rabbit hole and I have no way to populate the data to a card creation template so this will be done the old fashioned way, pen and paper. Anyway, enjoy.

Lots of number crunching! Love it!
Love this thanks Chris!!
Thought it would be interesting to share a process, increase awareness of some resources and to maybe inspire someone to step out and create something of their own. Thanks, Ron.
This is a monumental task that Im sure is appreciated by the entire table top gaming community Chris. Looking forward to watching this in its entirety. Great Idea my man!!!
The task is little by little making WS matchups I don't have access to.
Really cool that you are doing this !! Thanks !
Just a little something that might increase someone's enjoyment of the game. Thanks, Greg.
@@ChristopherWalrath Yepper ! In my opinion that is one of the drawbacks of SOM, not having enough of the players available. Pretty sure this will be much appreciated by a lot of players
Chris, thank you for such a practical video. If I have more time, I'll try to figure it out in more detail. Have a good day!
You are welcome, golf. Good to see you. Like I mention, regarding questions, fire away.
Is the document shown at the 4:24 and 5:52 and 7:48 markers in this video available to download?
Actually, that was on a computer that just bit the dust. I do not have an interwebs copy of that. It was based off all of Bruce Bundy's articles from his web page.
@@ChristopherWalrath Thanks for the reply Chris. You mentioned in one of your videos in this series the name of an author who wrote about Strat o Matic. Do you remember who that was?
That would probably have been Bruce Bundy. Great guy. Invaluable font of Strat info and wisdom.
Hi. Are you able to share your spreadsheet? Thank you.
In the description. Thanks.
@@ChristopherWalrath Thanks!
You are most welcome. Anytime.
Quick question, how to determine how much is the league avg for P's card walks, 2bs, 3bs, hrs?
That data is on the ref for more current seasons. Older seasons you just need to wing it.
@@ChristopherWalrath Is it the H9, HR9 etc ratings?
Those a hits and HRs per 9 innings. I think league avgs are in advanced pitching IIRC. At the very least you can view the league and get avgs there.
@@ChristopherWalrath I decided to check advanced pitching for the 2023 MLB, but I don't see anything that I could use.
I will look when I wake up. What season?
