@@AlphaWhoo welcome to this doshit community also yea the tutorial sucks so here a few tips the blue monsters a very good early on and press g to get out of combos
Ill explain everything Posture : when your posture builds up you will get stunned when you get by an attack while its full, a way to lower posture is to just let it regenerate naturally, parrying, and hitting other's block or posture break them. If you hold down the f button after failing a parry you will go into a blocking mode, you will not get damaged in this state (if the attack doesn't do alot of posture damage) but this state boost posture gain all the way to the max so unblock when you can and when your posture gets too high you can dogde away Right mouse click (feint) Yes you can feint your attacks and even feint your dogde. You can feint your m1 by clicking right click while in the animation. This is usually more useful on players and not npcs. Dogding (q) Gives you s and moves you around a little. And if you feint the dogde by clicking right click during it, I THINK it gives more s and doesnt move you around as much, Imo dogde feint is better than regular dogde Ether Basically mana. Attunements There is currently 6 attunements, but you only saw 4 on character selection. But why? Because the other two attunements are locked by a quest (ironsing and shadowcast) but for new players, flame is the best. Leveling up, talents, traits, mantras You can level up by putting in 15 attributes and two criteria must be met, amount of exp and investment exp. They are not shown in a bar, they are invisible so you can just assume. You get exp by fishing, doing quests, killing (most exp and voidwalkers get exp they kill their bounty but you will get exp if you kill the voidwalker that has a bounty on you). If your exp is good enough you need investment exp which is basically the requirement to use the training items (dumbell, training vest, ect) you have to do things related to said attribute. Example : fortitude exp by getting hit, agility exp by dogding and running around, charisma by... Having friends (joke) and more. But you need exp to actually put a point into a attribute using investment exp When you do level up you will get an orb on top of your screen like in the tutorial, it gives talents which is buffs, for example scardey cat talent gives you temporary slight speed boost when getting engaged in a fight, blood iron spirit which regains some armor durability when you grip someone and also gives 5 hp. fishman lets you grip people underwater and also lose less thrist and hunger when swimming (gripping is an act of executing an knocked out opponent) and ect. Some talents has requirements, for example : bulldozer (25 strength) if you flourish someone (flourish is the kick at the end of an m1 combo) to a wall he will get posture broken. Lose your mind (needs willpower but idk how much) gives a damage buff the more insane you are and more. Mantras Basically magic When you put in 20-30-50 stats to your attunement it will allow you to get higher tier mantras, 1 star mantras at 20 and 2 star at 30 and 3 star at 50. You will also start to get talents related to your attunement when you raise your attributes more and some talents are specifically made for 1 singular mantra for example Mantra : grand javelin (a two star mantra)(thundercall) You throw an javelin basically And the talent (grand skewer) Makes your grand javelin drag someone it hits instead of just knocking them over Traits : you might get them at a level up but they just increase some stats (vitality gives you 10 hp each, erudition increases ether regen and amount, songchant increase your mantra damage and size???, proficiency boosts the damage that you get when you upgrade your weapon's attribute) With talents, mantras, and traits There is builds Where the stats are specifically put in to get the talents and mantras you want that is fits the build you want Pve build As high damaging to monsters possible with talents such as giantslayer (deal 10% more to big foes) lose your mind (you can get an item that can actually make you insane in order to get the damage boost) and more This build is made specifically for killing monsters and pve There is are track stars Usually gale, but sometimes paired with thunder or flame or all three to be as fast as possible 100 agility and mobility mantras aswell as mobility talents like gale leap (if you jump off a legde while sliding, aka pressing jump while sliding near the egde of a tall legde you will be launched foward and it also get combined with wind step talent in the previous update which is just a double jump), kickoff (climb slightly higher) and more This build usually has the jetstriker oath (we will get to oaths later) and is made to yank an knocked out opponent out of someone before they grip them in order to save them or steal the dead person's loot 😈 There is always a room to experiment with builds and you can even replicate anime characters in deepwoken Oaths Its better if you search the wiki for the quests but its basically a... How do i explain it. Its basically if you swore on 1 oath it will lock you out from the other oaths but gives you powers in return, but you need to progress it to actually get the oath talents or mantras. For example you progress silent heart by killing attunement trainers, contractor by gripping a player with a oath in the depths (depths is that ocean dark place which puts you on your last life and you should google or watch other yt videos of how to escape it) ect... Lives If you get killed once you will be put on second life, your hp bar will look rusted and more orange, you can get your first life back by leveling up, if you die on your second life tho you will be sent to the depths. Where if you die there you die for real, but if you play deepwoken alot the depths are not as scary as it seems, most quests and oaths and loot is locked in the depths meaning you need to go to the depths to obtain them and the depths are crucial to get stuffs that some builds needs because they are not available in the overworld. Also the depths is the only way to get shadowcast. But there is also insanity, if you stay too long you would gain insanity indicated by blueish glow on the corner of your screen, you will die if you gain too much of it but the willpower stat gives you more sanity with the right stats you can stay in the depths for hours for the purpose of farming. There is still many things i havent covered like sub weapon classes (fist, rapier, great sword, spears, and even guns), other origins, bosses bells, enchants, events, quests, guilds, islands, layer 2, ect. This game is open world and there is just SOOO many content in this game. I hope this helps, if you even find this comment
Basics: Tempo is a bar where you regenerate your ether (stamina basically), if you are in a sticky situation and want to escape while pressured, Pressing G will sacrifice some of the tempo in order to push away the enemy, the tempo will fill up once you're attacked by an NPC or a player, if the tempo has a gray tint, the "venting" system is disabled until you engage in combat, venting stands for pressing G to push away the enemy. Ether: Ether is a stamina bar, mantras are magic spells, attunement is the magic you are using, there are multiple attunements, ranging from basic magic like fire, wind, ice and thunder, to much harder magic to obtain, such as shadow and iron magic, using these magic spells will cost ether. Posture is your block strength, more posture you have, more attacks you can block, parrying an attack removes some of the posture and gives it to the enemy, using shields give flat posture bonus for defensive purposes, upon reaching 100% posture, you will recieve slightly more damage and will be stunned in place, rendering you immobile, the posture bar gets reset aswell. Basic combat includes: M1 (Basic attack) R (Critical Attack) M2 (Feint/Cancel an attack or dodge during the attack/dodging animation) [Cancelling an attack is to mess up the opponent's parrying time] F (Parrying or blocking if held, if there was no attack to parry, parrying is disabled for 1.5 seconds and you're forced to block and take posture damage) Y (Stance change, using the weapon with one hand or using the weapon with two hands) Q (dash out and dodge attack, can be used to put out fire) [Dodging can be canelled early with M2, so you can end the dash early and attack faster, however the dodge frames are shorter if you cancel the dodge sooner] V (carry a knocked person) B (execute the knocked person) Life system: On the surface, you have 2 lives, Dying twice in a row sends you to depths, The depths is considered to be hell, Upon escaping by navigating to the cathedral, you will be granted the 2 lives back, but there is a cost for every time you are sent to the depths, more times you are sent, more dangerous the trial will be for escaping, dying IN the depths will eliminate all your progress. Trial of the Depths: The trial will be stronger however much power level you are aswell as how many times you have been sent to depths, you can check power level by pressing tab and looking to your stats, the drowns (aka how many times youve been sent to depths) can be checked at campfire on summary tab. Leveling up: Increase power by investing into points, the training gears can be bought at antiquarian to level up, you'll be dealt a talent card to learn new talents. Hope this helps.
@@Onion1976to be fair that can be simplified a lot As you take or deal damage, your tempo bar will fill. When the bar is blue, you can press g to vent, pushing away enemies. Ether is the stamina gauge spent for using your mantras. Posture fills as you block damage, or are parried, and lowers when parrying someone else. If posture fills up you are block broken. You have 3 lives. On your last life, you are sent to the depths. If you die in the depths, you die permanently. There are two ways to avoid this. 1: If you find yourself in the depths, you can escape through the city in the middle. There is a trial where you fight an enemy, which is harder depending on your level as well as how many times you have done it. 2: leveling up puts you back to 3 lives. Leveling up: To level up and receive a new set of cards to pick from, you must invest all 15 points for that level. This is done by using a training item of a specific attribute to put a point into that stat. In order to invest the point, however, you must have both enough general xp from defeating enemies and enough xp for that specific stat. The method for gaining specific xp varies depending on stat (fortitude needs taking damage, agility is from running and climbing, etc) He did leave out a couple things that are easy to explain. You can craft items in your inventory. More advanced crafts can only be done near a crafting station, found most places in the game. There are multiple “Origins,” which are just starting points for your character. More advanced origins may come with special abilities. Oaths are essentially classes for the game. They are acquired through quest lines with varying requirements, and give passives and moves of their own. You can only have one. You can achieve a single Resonance, a random single move that is very powerful. Resonance has its own xp gained slowly through things like killing bosses and fighting things in the depths. When you have enough xp and your hp reaches 0, it will fill back up and let you pick a resonance from a selection of 3 cards. He also put a list of controls, but that’s available in game at any time and is just a reminder. It is a lot of things, but that’s now not just the basics. All of that is the whole game. This all allows for a huge variation of playstyles and builds. The devs can use those things to expand practically infinitely. You can vary builds with focusing specific stats, differing elements for your magic, differing oaths, a different resonance, specific passives gained from leveling up, and however you want to use that. In addition, there’s a huge map with tons of locations and enemies that make it feel very alive, and the soundtrack is absolutely amazing throughout. As a big plus, the lore is deep and fun and constantly expanding. It’s an overall great experience that always stays fresh.
It's really enjoyable to see the start of someone playing this for the first time, it brings back memories. Hope there's more videos on Deepwoken from you
some tips is that you dont just have to parry, you can also dodge. Tempo is what determines how fast or slow your ether regenerates. Also, the dojo is a pretty good place to practice, I used it to practice and I got pretty decent at pve. You can also use that trainer to level up a few levels before going to lower erisia if you wanna be safe. You chose the best attunement for beginners as well.
If you have some friends willing to play deepwoken with you and learn it with you, you should totally get them to play deepwoken with you. Learning how to play deepwoken with friends is a once in a lifetime experience that I missed out on.
@@AlphaWhoothat's unfortunate, I'm sure plenty of people from the comment section or if you just ask any person in game in willing to teach you. also about the trainer, it is possible to win over him if u bring his hp to 0, then it will be your win and u gain exp, to level up u have to use training items prayer beads = willpower dumbbell = strength ankle weights = agility (note agility does not actually make u run faster, but has a bunch of abilities related to when you dodge or parry you gain a speed boost, which ups your dmg) Math textbook or encyclopedia = intelligence weapon manual = weapon mastery (more m1 and m2 dmg) Boulder or training vest = Fortitude How to Make Friends = Charisma also a thing that might be good to know is that when you down an enemy you gain health back, so your not at a disadvantage when you fight a few low tier mobs, but if its big monsters then it dont really help since human type enemies usually fight you 1 on 1 but monsters dont care
The things you were fighting around 20:32 those are called mudskipper and usually new players would fight those since typical those are the easiest things to fight to level up but they are very deadly in a group if you're not good at parry timing so i recommend continuing practicing at isle of vigirl and remember to use your training items and when you are comfortable fighting the trainer u can try fight the mudskipper and once your comfortable fighting those you can then move on to the bandit and bandit leader. Normal bandits) the one u were fighting and got ur first death to) are health pack for you to be able to fight the bandit leader. The bandit leader has a white shirt and has more hp than the bandits and killing all 3 of them (two normal bandits and one bandit leader usually spawns randomly anywhere) rewards you with a chest. This is good starter loot and exp and will help u learn and progress easier. Once you reach a higher lvl you will then be able to hear to the bandit leader camp and this area only has bandit leaders. One more thing there a certain people you may encounter when you are at a decent lvl so like 7-20 and these are called voidwalkers. Voidwalker are just bounty hunters hunt after you. The way to notice voidwalkers is whenever they are in hunt mode they will have black tentacles like particles and if u see this dont use roblox leave button use deepwoken leave icon and if you get combat tagged by them you just gotta hope and pray they are not that good and their build is fightable.
@@AlphaWhoo When you parry the enemy is shortly stunned so always attack right after you parry, and if they parry or avoid it then it’s your turn to parry/avoid it.
deepwoken is a hard game solo, was solo for a while till i started my own guild and helped people who were new like me, when you learn how to play and the areas to go to, etc, the first few levels become really easy, then you just practice late game enemies and fight bosses. the easiest way to learn deepwoken is by playing with others, especially if that person has more experience they tend to explain things better than tutorials, plus alot of mechanics are just left for you to discover on your own/through the wiki or other people. What i usually do as kind of a levelling guide is -Mudskippers till power 2 (so i can get a mantra, try aim for one that blockbreaks, as you get better replace mudskippers with bandits but i lag alot sometimes so mudskippers are generally a safer option) -Bandits in erisia (Typically the camp of bandit leaders, till power 2-8) -Golems (a little further in erisia, till power 8-10/11) Then i sail to the other luminant (new map, new islands basically) i go to a place called songseeker isle (basically regular enemies that fight using weapons and attunement) -songseekers (till power 11-13) Then i go to another place called starswept valley (most people call it hive) it contains enemies that are found in the depths so fighting here is a great way to practice those depths enemies so if you die and go down there, youll have a much easier time trying to escape instead of running around scared of everything. Enemies in songseeker (till power13-16) then i fight a miniboss called deep widow in songseeker (till power 16-20) (this is if im solo since i kind of suck, and again my wifis really bad haha) If im playing with a freind, we fight a boss called duke of erisia (till power 16-20) Duke is kinda essential for unlocking your resonance (bell), basically an ability that you press c to use, but worry about that after you get your first max level character (level 20) the game is frustrating to learn but if you put in the time its very fun, try not to give up too early as you die alot in the beginning ALSO one tip to help wih combat is when you get hit, your tempo bar will go up (that short blue bar at the bottom of your screen) when you have enough tempo you can press G to 'vent', causing a blue burst and pushing away all enemies (unless they parry the vent, but its kinda hard to do) that tip should help the most tbh, the levelling guide is what everyone will kinda tell a beginner (places will be the same but level (power) may vary ) Good luck playing, i hope this helped
@@lolfoxmaster4870 true but its something pretty much anyone has to learn. duke is at the starting island, and assuming they do one search, he is pretty findable. plus, i also said he could go with a friend. that'd make it much easier, and i said power16-20, 2 people that level should be ok enough to fight duke. and even if they arent, they just have to learn his moveset
I completely agree that the tutorial is awful. It was actually added after the game released,a nd the game was never meant to have one in the first place. moreso, it was added BEFORE a major content update that changed a lot of systems (such as adding tempo) I would reccomend just watching a few "beginners guide" videos on the game, which is unfortuantely the only real way to learn besides just playing and getting frustrated. it really is a fun game once you get over the first bump, but it's very hard to do that. another thing that might help is letting you know that parrying is different from sekiro in the sense that you essentially need to parry AS the weapon is swining, not as it hits you. it needs to be this way in order to accomodate for the input delay that roblox inevitably produces in multiplayer games
Thank you for the tips above, but I’ll have to correct your final point about parrying. Timing Sekiro’s parry is parrying AS the weapon swings towards you. It feels like Deepwoken’s parry is parrying BEFORE the sword begins to swing at you. That means Deepwoken’s parrying windows are way earlier than Sekiro’s.
The game wants you to learn stuff yourself. Its supposed to be more community based, as shown why the tutorial is so short. They don't wanna just tell you everything, they wanna give you a brief summary of some stuff then put you out into the game itself. Everything that is known about deepwoken was found out by the community
The tutorial makes it seem like that’s all there is to the game. It’s misleading instead of vague. I wish they would have made an emphasis of self-discovery because it felt like this was the definitive path to take as a beginner.
@@AlphaWhoo the main problem with deepwoken is new player onboarding Most new players either have to go to google or just quit the game thats why people hate it
@@Planteron1 I think its pretty intuitive I got the game when it first came out with no tutorial and no youtube videos. All i did was get a guide to lower erisia then it was easy to go from there. Parrying I feel is also very easy to learn and you just have to stop running away like this guy.
The start of deepwoken can be daunting and difficult, but in my opinion its worth to try playing it more. There is a lot of content that is just awesome. For some tips, try sparring with the trainer in vigils until you can beat him consistently, that's what helped me start and got wanting to play more. Playing with an experienced friend makes learning way easier but in my opinion kind of ruins the mystery and start of the game, speaking from experience, but that doesnt mean that they cant give you any sort of help. And if your charecter progresses a bit and you wipe, dont feel too bad as you will get back what progress you made faster and faster. And, I'm excited to see the next deepwoken video from you so good luck and wish you the best.
When i first started 2 years ago there was no tutorial it was so much harder. and yeah deepwoken is not a noob friendly game, even if you dont have friends that dont play deepwoken try asking higher lvl players they often help.
deepwoken is a 'learn on the job' type game, it was extremely hard for me to adjust to the game, and I've been playing for a good while and im still struggling at the game in some ways, don't give up though! I believe that you can get really good. just watch out for guys in a black and orange uniform who run towards you.
@@AlphaWhoo To be more specific, those are called "Voidwalkers" they are basically bounty hunters. You'll be save from them for now but once you reach level 10 they'll be able to teleport to your location and kill you for loot and exp. You can become one of them for conveniences like free water, training gears, etc though exp gained from other sources may be significantly reduced. (Note that the reduced exp isnt that much of deal and this origin is a good way to train your pvp skill )
I play deepwoken a lot, so seeing someone new, like you is great. I also have a guild I like to train people in, if you want to join it, its free to anyone
the most useful tip that i can give to a new player, that the tutorial doesn't teach is VENTING press G when your tempo bar is glowing blue to do a hyperarmor combobreak which pushes all humanoid enemies away from you
the only thing I can say, man deepwoken is a very good game but yes it's really difficult to understand, I hope you like the game and make more videos and maybe make a deepwoken video a month? The game becomes much better than it already is once you learn the system The deep is calling you
I know I’ll make a second video for sure, I’m not entirely confident whether I would make any more additional videos after that. I’ll keep playing Deepwoken though!
Tempo is a burst bar you get while in combat to push enemies off you by pressing G, it is a blue bar under your health that only fills in combat. Posture is the yellow bar once that fills you get block broken and stunned.
another thing with deepwoken is you dont want to just always parry and wait for a enemy to get posture broken, because you dont posture break mobs just off parrying you need to hit them after parrying. The main system is the parry but you can block some attacks, some attacks you have to dodge instead of parry or block ( press q) with that all you want to do is fight enemys, use equipment to level up, and all that. This game gets real complicated but just start with the basics and you will get there later, just remember (Im not to sure how sekiro works but I think your trying to parry for there posture to break and then backstab them) that isnt a thing in deepwoken its just better to use your m1s after you parry them but there isnt a backstab like serkiro that does good damage, I haven't played deepwoken in a long time but I can guide you a little if you want me to in a call, I wont reveal all the game because the fun is finding out all the things in the game but I can help you just enough so where you can lead yourself
I can agree with you at the end, I did have a friend help me through out Deepwoken it is very difficult alone and starting. They definitely should make a better tutorial as it is terrible and add a dojo in the second village (Etris).
I really enjoyed this, you're one of like the 20 I watched that are new to Deepwoken that I actually enjoyed. Super excited to see how you react to certain things, and just a tip: explore EVERYTHING me and my friend decided to explore the whole world, every spot we could get to and it was a legendary experience I wish I could go back to.
I saw a list of basics, but ended up writing a list of all the systems in the game, so I figured I’d leave it here: As you take or deal damage, your tempo bar will fill. When the bar is blue, you can press g to vent, pushing away enemies. Ether is the stamina gauge spent for using your mantras. Tips: When caught on fire, click Q to roll it off People with black swirling circles around them is there to kill you Spawning at vigils would be a good choice because of the instructor that doesnt kill, but instead he trains you There is also 2 bandits at a bridge at vigil to practice fighting
The games used to not have a tutorial. Its one of the main points to not help you at all its all about figuring it out. For most people it sucks, only recommendation is to play with as many friends as you can. You will get better with time.
Now here is the tips portion. If you want to have fun, play with friends. If you want to skip pain find a mentor (anyone who is half decent and can keep you alive while teaching you to play). If you intend to fight or do much later on either make a build or have someone make a build for you to prepare for the late game shenanigans. Overall your focus should be on parrying/combat as It is what makes up most of the game.
Okay so kind of late but, this game doesn't have a good tutorial and start , lots of things are hidden probably for lore and ambience of the unknown but it's to a deficit and playing without guidance is really hard , but once you know the flow of the game , it's a much much better experience , one of the best at least to me , the music and details are great , it's just super sad the entry is gate kept Thank you for trying the gale out i hope you get the will to play some more but anyways , have a nice day
Bro like for real make some more content on this this game its so much more than it is from the start just keep going. like for real this video was entertaining. I know I be sounding like an NPC out here LOL
Tips for u , dont just pary to passively. After u parry then m1 as fast as possible to fight back, thats how the game works. U should also think about the aerial attack wich is jump + m1 or run m1 (i hope u will do that next vids)
Deep is very much so a "Wiki game" you have to look so much up to understand, there is little to no handholding, and that tutorial that tella you to go to lower never used to exist, and you need to look up a beginners tutorial to even learn the basics, this is something acknowledged by the devs, i remwmber like 6hrs into my playthrough i dies to kaido in the sea from sailing to long in the voidsea i was so lost lol.
Tempo can be used to push enemies away from you. You gain it by getting hit or landing hits, and if you press g whilst having at least half of your tempo bar full any enemies that are close to you will be pushed back.
@@AlphaWhoo but if u didnt push anyone back u will get stunned aka punished that push can also be blocked/parried and there is a talent that if a person block breaks someone they cant use tempto to escape
Yeah honestly watching deepwoken content creators played a large part in me learning the game, however are large growth of my progression was contributed to my guild mates around me. This game is really punishing to new players and especially with no one around to help you turns many people away from this game past lower erisia. I don't recommend playing this game solo as a new comer and it will probably damage your view on the game if you do. I do find this game enjoyable now, almost 500 hours into it, but the fact that you have to find an experienced player to help guide you through the game is disappointing. Good luck with your future experiences in deepwoken as this game has an immeasurable amount of content in it.
If you want to get used to more of the varieties of mobs in the game, look into taking the trial of one(it will take a while but once you complete 4/9 trials I think, then you can unlock it as an origin when building your character.
My first experience was kinda wild. When I got to erisia shore, there was already people fighting then later after just entering the gate i got jumped by 6 bandits. After respawning to my ship, I got killed by a high lvl player and was sent to the depths. After wandering around I then got killed by a mini boss. One of my tips is after parrying you have the hit priority so dont be afraid to hitback but of course they will parry so you'll have to parry too then after doing a few parry trades they'll start to block, that's when you can use your heavy attack to posture break em and land a few hit (they sometimes dodge). Another one is don't be afraid to fight. I know that you have to pick your fights but sometimes you cant do anything but fight. Try to remain and stay calm during combat, dont be intimidated and afraid cause past lvl 10 things are just gonna get harder. Just fight and don't hesitate. Remember Sekiro, hesitation is defeat. That is the way of war.
I feel this game is alot better to play when you have friends especially when you first start playing it’s alot easier to progress and you won’t die as much because your friend can save you. Also It pains me to see you never dodged.
Have friends to explain to you just the very basics but once you graduate by killing 3 bandits and making it to power 3 for the first time, you should be on your own now as its better to discover everything by yourself or else you become a permafreshie
Stay away from those monsters that you were in the ocean if you see one of them run doont even fight back if your strong you could fight them if you want btw they are in angels in that ocean so becareful there also strong too
Before I clicked to this video I already knew you'll be lost and confused afraid and paranoid well that's what it felt when it was first released the game is really focused on discovering things yourself I myself played the game on the first day it came out and it's truly hard learning things and getting better at the game killing beings or even just common lowly bandits can make you feel a sense of success and progress I highly recommend playing your friends as you have some who got your back, but the game really takes time to learn a lot of trail and error which you dreadfully fear to lose all that progress gives you the push on the edge on should I risk it? Should I commit stuff like that as of rn it is better to have 1 or 2 friends or players who knows the ins and outs of the game to teach you the mechanics but it's truly mesmerizing when you discover them yourself, back then megaladuant/sharko is the most feard being now in the current state of the game even a lvl 1 player can deal with it with enough skill this game doesn't really go easy on new players sometimes overwhelming them but back In release when players who waited for the game mindset was to learn and discover the overwhelming world of deepwoken and the feeling of lost and not doing things right was different back then where we we're in awe of discovering on edge on seeing new things new places new beings and the feeling of not doing things right feels like a grand discovery to be given such information as you might be the only one who attained it,as well right now deepwoken is not new player friendly playing the game blindly alone is frustrating but playing the game with friends blindly is outstandingly fun as you all brainstorm with your collective braincells and one goofy one who spreads brainrot among the guild, if you intend to showcase or review the game or just know the ins and outs the mechanics have a decent minded player teaching you the way thru showing what this mean and that how this work and why, those kinds of stuff, really love the content and love to see another new guy to play the game it reminds me of the good old times lol, if you're really invested in the game I would love to teach you a thing or two I find it pleasant teaching new players lol, I'll tell ya the most important thing a new players should know, the parrying has a panic state your first parry is open but if you miss a parry you enter a panic state which you parry is on cooldown this is implemented so you don't just spam the parry key if you parry in a panic state it won't work you can see your in a panic state when sweat flies out in your head a visual effect to know your in panic state and you scratch your head aswell as long you don't miss a parry you'll be alright but if you do miss you can roll cancel but more indept of that later as it's getting quite long a paragraph im writing, love the video man can't wait to see more 👍
Deepwoken is very infamous for its sweaty, hardcore, players not to mention its mechanics are extremely hard to learn at start but the more you play Deepwoken the more you learn *pro tip: go to a place called ministry and you want to climb up and go to a place where some shadow people and a castle-like building in the middle with when u enter it on the top-right of that place go down to a place called "trial of one" which gets u 6 free levels off spawn* and when u enter it at first u get it as a spawn point but u need to deal with some huge mobs and good luck the game is intresting and 100% one of the most if NOT the hardest game on roblox edit: forgot to mention but when u go to erisia head to the left and into a cave people like to call "muddskipper cave" just wait for some zombie-like mobs that are called muddskippers spawn and kill them for a huge exp at start
Tip: to get exp fro Lower Erisia easily, atack humanoid NPC from behind while crouching, you insta kill the ones using brown and it gives you time to smack those using white. And do not fight monsters at least till you learn the patterns or is strong enough to just tank them. Note: i dont speak english
I have more tips if needed, im a deepwoken player myself and i LOVE the game, because of it i want more people to enjoy it, but the game is really unfair to those learning, but is such a magical, huge and a full of passion world, i recommend
Bro you might be saying that there's a whole bunch of channels that make better content of the game but the thing is it's not that fun to watch every single one of these guys have like hundreds of thousands of hours in the game and it just so great to just see someone that's brand new to the game experiencing it for the first time. I'm for real please keep going please my king. 🙏😭
Tip on npc combat with swords. Usually I attack them first, they block then throw out an attack. I then parry and throw out and attack, then they block and then attack. You keep doing this "parry exhange" until their posture is broken. The posture bar indicates how much you can hold block for. Basically if it turns yellow completely you will be block broken and stunned for a short amount of time letting the enemy get an extra hit on you. Keep in mind, your posture bar increases if you block an attack or the enemy parries you, which increases the posture bar by a bit. To lower your posture bar, you want to parry incoming attacks from enemies. So basically for npcs with swords, daggers, or heavy weapons, you want to mainly parry exchange. Now for the bosses, like the megolaudant and other bosses, you can practice them at "Trial of One" Which is located at minitrysa, Sail right towards the big gate from etris docks, then after entering the gate, continue forward until you see ice spikes in the water, sail closer to the ice spikes until you see an island, which is minitrysa. Trial of one helped me train bosses, the annoying thing is you have to sail back to Trial of one everytime you die. You get a spawnpoint there, once you beat the thresher (a crocodile boss) which is the 3rd boss in Trial of one. So if you can beat the crocodile you can continue to train there forever, because you have gained the spawnpoint. To go to the spawnpoint, everytime you wipe (die completely) you can click on the origin tab in the main menu when costumizing your character and click on minitrysa, spawning you at Trial of One. IMPORTANT TIP: Parrying, dodging, critical, Mouse 1's, mantras. This is the games combat system, the most important tip I have is you have to dodge sometimes. Bosses for example make a sound and a red indicator when you have to dodge, if you dont you will be block broken. So dodging is just as important as parrying. Learn to really use your reflexes instead of predicting when a boss makes a move. The bosses have a certain pattern to them. Like golem, after it stops doign its helicopter attack, usually you can get 1-2 hits in then it unleashes an attack. But its not the same attack everytime, it varies. Sometimes its an uppercut which you have to dodge, a beam he shoots which you have to dodge (tip dodge the beam once it goes silent), a stomp which you can parry, and a two hand attack which you can parry. You have to use your reflexes to either dodge or parry, and if you get hit, its because you have a skill issue or its because you have high ping, so check the servers ping. That blue tempo bar helps you escape combos by pressing G once it is halfway. Also for movement tips, when you use your slide you can jump, making you get an extra dash kind of, if you also slide then click on your mouse you will get an uppercut. Kinda experiment and look in the controls panel to see how you can do different things. Please give the game a chance, I also sucked at the game when starting, but once you ease in the game, it becomes really fun and you spend alot of time on it. Hope you find this helpful.
parry timings change if you just got hit, your character panics and parry timings become near impossible for a few hits, you need to get away from them to go back to normal this is for combos but its never explained Dont run as much from enemies even when your outclassed, youll pretty much always get caught and take alot of damage. Your also not learning anything by running Stay shift locked literally all the time Good luck soldier
Tips: If you are gonna continue playing it which you should it is fun in my opinion very adventurous and challenging but you wanna keep playing it as you go on that is how I played it I played with 0 knowledge and I got better as I kept going I died multiple times but that is all on you if you wanna play it that way since it is the fun part of games to learn it as you play through it but my number one tip is avoid all players at all cost even if they seem nice and also I believe you can do it and become good at this game. Keep it up!
I REALLY hope that we get more Deepwoken from you. also some tips for Deepwoken... . slide-jumping gives a small speed boost . you can escape the depths t hrough the big gate in the middle of the city, if the gate is not open someone (or yourself) has to ring the bells around the city, the bells make a small ringing sound so you can find the . there are other attunements (spell types) you can't unlock at the start of the game and they are :shadow, and metal. you also can unlock the mantras you have not picked at the start . when you wipe your character you get points called echoes which can be used to get permanent upgrades like starting with new weapons or the ability to pass down more items after you wipe . when your tempo increases enough you can press G to push away enemies . you can press right click mid roll, light attack, and mantra to cancel it . if you see someone with black particles around them they are called a Voidwalker they are players who seek to hunt KILL you so watch out . you run and attack then you can you a running attack. . if you slide and use the right click you can you an uppercut, which throws you and your opponent into the air (you can uppercut anytime in the slide) . Lower Erisa is in fact the starting area . last but not least, the area in Lower Erisa you went first is not the best way to enter, there is a main entrance you can use, BUT!, you can talk to an NPC that is close to where the got the glider recipe which sends you on a "pretty easy" quest which permanently unlocks an AIR DASH, this is VERY IMPORTANT for you in the game that's all, good luck.
i wont lie i was in the same predicament as you when i first started, i was lost and i didnt understand the game at all and this was a a time of the game where it was completely different to what it is now. so as a player of same experience as you i feel your pain but what really helped me get to learn the game and enjoy it was first of all playing it and second it was having friends to play it with to help me if i ever had questions on the spot so i think it would be a great idea to play along with a friend ask them to teach you, play with and maybe even progress with you to take of the burden of playing the game alone as a new player. otherwise good luck to your deepwoken journey :D
Advice doesn’t apply anymore. Way more OP toxic players that kill for no personal gain than when you first started. Being a new player rn makes you nearly completely softlocked to progressing, let alone being able to practice and get better at the game. You can’t get better when you’re dying so often and then running 10 minutes back to practice on that same enemy type. For example Trial of One takes too long to restart and try again, so the time it takes to master fighting sharkos can be months of playing.
i played deepwoken once and i had the same experience. Everything was confusing and scary and i could either not progress or die trying to. I left the game for like a few months but then verse 2 dropped adding a ton of stuff so i came back. This second time i was determined to get better. I learned how you're supposed to level up and tried to get the highest level i could every life almost like a high score. I would end up basically just fighting the easiest enemies, sneaking around and avoiding actual players. This of course is quite a boring playstyle so with time i got more and more adventurous, setting goals for myself to prove that i am infact improving. After i learned how to defeat the bandits in the bandit camp in 1v1s my goal was to kill a megalodaunt. The megalodaunt you spotted here 21:00 is a static spawn, it will always spawn there, so my goal now was to learn it's moveset and kill it. Now for my biggest goal, I consider this to be a milestone which will instantly break the begginer barrier if you manage to overcome it. Trial of one. I've heard of this trial that can instantly get you to around level 7 if you can beat it. Seeing as that took me a long ass time, this 20 minute trial seems quite interesting. If you can complete the Trial at least half way, past the crocodile-like enemy, you will unlock it AS A SPAWN LOCATION. I was determined to unlock it because it would allow me to try my hand at fighting the most important enemies in the game, plus it would allow me to speed up my progression. Trial of one is located in the basement of a little castle looking structre over at the island "Minityrsa". It is protected by the Ministry so you'll have to be quick and dodge them all to sneak into the trial. You have to be level one to access it though. TLDR; I recommend you look up "how to get to trial of one" and learn how to at least beat it half way since that will allow you to unlock it as a spawn location letting you learn the patterns of the most common monster enemies in the game and learn the basic most important parts of this game's combat. Unlock the "Lone warriow" origin (trial of one spawn location) and you will become way better at the game while also feeling like you can manage on your own in this harsh world. If you can do that then a long term goal i recommend is unlocking every other attunement. It's pretty simple to do, just look it up. You should definitely watch video tutorials on this game or have the wiki open (i recommend doing both) Expect to die and lose your character often. That's part of the experience. You learn and unlock new things as you live your many lives so don't be afraid of trying again. I will subscribe to you in hopes that i can one day watch you beat Trial of one (or at least beat it halfway) I hope you'll do it. I believe in you.
it's really interesting seeing new people try out deepwoken, also that all of them have the same exact complaint, the new player experience i remember i struggled myself when i first got back to the game, i had no idea how to do almost anything, i understood the combat and training but i had no clue about talents, mantras or oaths if i'm being honest, as a new player by yourself you can't really get that far, you need to see youtube videos and spend some time on the wiki but if you have the motivation to learn more this game will suck you right in as for my tip for you, once you're in the depths you have to look around and find your way to the city walls, there are two entrances, one flat and the other sloaped, if you find yourself near the sloaped one that's good! go forward and up to the gate, if it's closed you'll need to ring the 4 bells that are scattered around the city, otherwise there's another option which is climbing onto the city walls and going into the middle by dropping down, then you'll have to go onto the elevator, activate it and then wait for it to get to the top, there until power 6 you'll face no enemies and will be let out into the overworld again, if you find youself near the flat entrance do NOT go forward, less you want to fight the squibbo, most dangerous mob in the game, you'll have to go around the city until you reach the other side, then you repeat the steps already mentioned. getting out of the depths is something i as a beginner struggled with the most and i found absolutely no guides on how to get out legitemetly so i hope this will help in the next approach ps, after dying once your health bar gets tainted, dying with a tainted health bar will send you to the depths, it can be fixed by getting a level up or getting out of the depths
As a long time deepwoken player I understand the frustration of starting and I want to give u some tips (I’m not claiming that I’m very good at the game just a long time player) -Tempo is use to regenerate ether (aka your mana) and it can also be used to vent -Venting is when u have enough tempo stored and then press g, it will knock the enemy away and give you a chance to run or turn the fight to a neutral stance and you continue the fight from there -To power up (power is level btw) you will need training gears that u can buy at the shop in etris or at the dojo in vigils -Once you have training gears you will need to kill npcs to get xp (just like any other game) and as you power up you get talents according what stats you have like a really good talent called “Exoskeleton” it’s requirements are 40 fortitude and “Condition Runner” you will heal while you run if under 75% health its requirements are 25 agility, 25 fortitude and all the “Alley cat” talents such as “Endurance Runner” and “Scaredy Cat” -The fortune teller is called mystic, you can talk to mystic to choose what kind of talents you get as long as you have the required stats -When buying weapons you can see the requirements are LHT = light, MED = medium, HVY = heavy -After powering up you get talent hands and mantra hands (not every power give mantra hands) you can pick talents and mantras but as you train your attunement (magic/element) you can different stars of mantras 0-19 = 0 star, 20-29 = 1 star, 30-49 2 star, 50+ = 3 star (these are ur stats if u didn’t know) But yea those are some tips that I think would help and I hope you can enjoy deepwoken a bit more
hi just wanted to explain some things tempo increases when you hit opponents or get hit, if you press G while having high tempo you will "vent" venting allows you to escape combos as it bypasses all forms of stun, unless your opponent has a specific perk which disables venting (collapsed lung) the game is intended to be learned through experience, it is an intended flaw the same thing applies to the new player experience, monad studios are especially notorious for giving you no guidance whatsoever and just throwing you into some of the hardest roblox games you'll ever play, rogue lineage being the prime example, as people often call deepwoken the "child friendly" version of rogue (rogue doesn't even have a tutorial in the first place) you can parry depending on when the attack is about to hit you too, the tutorial simply explains how the devs thought of parrying, which is not the most efficient way of doing it if you have any other questions ill lyk
Some stuff to know if u r gonna play the game again, tempo is gained whenever you get into combat and parry, attack, or land mantras and passively drains, the higher it is the faster u will regenerate either in combat vice versa while out of combat tempo doesn’t apply, when you have enough tempo you can press g to release a blast around you knocking away any npc’s or players this is primarily used in pvp but still has its uses against human enemy’s in pve this is a really important mechanic and important to get a hang of as this is the most common thing new players forget to do in combat. There are npc’s around the map that will give you quests some of these quests reward you with “echo talents” after completing them once the talents the quest gives you will be given to you every time you reach level 2 on that account. they are all really useful I’d reccomend checking the one found in pathfinders respite again when you spawn in you can check out the black smith and make some basic armour with the money you get from the first npc. Also I’m sure u saw this in a tutorial but you can use r or middle mouse wheel (use middle mouse wheel it’s so much easier than using r) to do a “critical” attack with your weapon these differ from weapon to weapon some weapons use it to supplement their poor dps some weapons use it to guard break and enemy some use it to apply knockdown and they are very abuseable against the npc’s in erisia
in the overworld you have 2 lives, each indicated by how your health bar looks like. if you have 2 lives, it'll be orange. if you have 1 life, it'll be orange with stains. if you die with a stained health bar, you will be sent to the depths, where your character will slowly go insane if you dont escape. dying in the depths instantly wipes your character
I’ve been playing deepwoken for a very long time and even came to create content about it so here’s some words of advice. 1. When your starting off in deepwoken it’s best to grind isle of vigils in the training area where you were at and play it with friends. It should be obvious but it makes the game easier for newer players because fighting a boss alone as a new player is pretty hard especially when you don’t even know what the F key is. 2. You shouldn’t try to run people’s fade or do any pvp purposes until you master PVE. You also shouldn’t be trusting players either without knowing you can beat them. (This is very important because players can trick you into going on a boat with them to their guild turning you into the fool whose in depths (The blue ocean like realm you were in after dying 2 times.) This game has 200+ hours worth of standard content in it and 3/4th of it is PVE and most of the mid-end game PVE things are stat checks/skill check. 3. Before you start anything you should go to the deepwoken wiki as it holds everything you need to know about the game including the talents and mantras you get. Including oaths, attunememt, weapon types, mythical weapons, armor, and lastly bosses. Important controls F - Parry/block Q - Dodge Q + Right Click - Roll cancel (Your end-lag is heavily decreased but your dodge window is shortened.) G - Venting - You explode yourself with energy pushing away anyone near you to a short distance. (need to have tempo in order to do this.) Ctrl - crouch you can assassinate players and NPC’s (15% TRUE dmg to players) (Damage to NPC’s + Short knocked duration.) T to spit (Landing a spit on a humanoid mob/player gives you 2% hp back) M1 + M2 to feint. Middle mouse button Or R for critical. (You get 1 hit of super armor with Heavy weapons.) C - Bell. Hint: Kill a lot of corrupted mobs and do a lot of bosses. :) Anyways if you need any help or anything else lemme know. I’ll be watching your deepwoken vids and possibly your streams if you do any.
Good video, this game definitely isn't very beginner friendly and can be hard to get into due to so many of the specific things in the game ngl. The best way to play this game imo is to have someone guide you through some basics n stuff. The best tip I would give is that stats for core attributes are mostly for the talent prerequisites when you power up and not for the small bonuses they provide. Nonetheless good luck trying out this game, it is one hell of a time
I like how calm and the slow pace of the video is. And I get it, Deepwoken ain't that beginner friendly but.. if you keep going, you might find some fun in it :D (awesome video, fr)
I can never compete with the ultra-ADHD style of editing, I frankly can’t even be that vigorous in recording haha. Thank you for watching the video, I appreciate it
I remember back when there wasn’t even a tutorial at the start u just got spawned in at etris or isle of vigils and the game was impossible to play blind
WHATEAVER YOU DO PLEASE DONT SEARCH TUTORIALS BRING YOUR FRIENDS INTO THE GAME AND DISCOVER IT WITH THEM IT WAS SOOOO FUN WHEN I PLAYED THIS GAME ON RELEASE WITH MY FRIENDS NOBODY KNEW ANYTHING AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COOL THINGS TO DISCOVER. About the combat some cool things they forgot to put on the tutorial if you dash before getting hit you dogde (gives you I frames used to avoid non parryable attacks like kicks etc) is you press ctrl you crouch (used for stealth) if you press ctrl click you do an uppercut that brings the person mid-air, If you hold ctrl on the ground you can slide (cool mobility trick works a lot better in slopes or just any thing that goes down), if you press G when you tempo bar is blue you can vent (helps to escape combos) and if you press Y you can change your weapon stance (not all weapons can change stance)
i was watching this in the background and i freaked out at 5:14, was thinking how tf is he already to layer 2 lol. Honestly just another sign of how good and recognisable the music is
@@AlphaWhoo naktigonis is probably one of the best video-game music composers, i dont think he has ever made a bad song for deepwoken, massive props to him, i doubt the game would be anywhere as good without it.
Hi. I play deepwoken and I have a few things I want to point out. Necessarily, most humanoid enemies (Mudskippers, bandits and others) usually have the same moveset, if we are talking about their M1 Combo. If you get the parry down pat with the Vigils Trainer, bandits and other general npcs shouldn't be a big problem. Since there is 3 weapon types, and NPCs use all three (Heavy, Light and Medium), the timing does need to be altered. For example, to parry a light weapon, you usually have to do it as you see them start moving, as the m1 is generally very fast. For Medium, its somewhere in the middle, a little after the anim starts, and for heavy, it's the slowest so it's sometimes iffy to parry if you only practiced medium and light. It's a little complex, yeah but in any case however. The Tempo Bar dictates the speed of your Ether Regen. However, it also has another niché use, Venting or you may also call it "Tempo Break/Burst", where you use a chunk of your Tempo to basically send everything around you flying and practically getting you out of combos. You get 80-90% of your bar filled the moment you are tagged in combat, and a vent costs around 40-50% tempo. The posture works as a 1 to 100. If the posture reachers 100% and you block, you get block broken, leaving you stunned longer than a normal hitstun. To fight in this game, after parrying, you have to retaliate with an m1. It's not exactly like what I saw with you attempting to "r" or in other words, critical using your sword against the mudskippers. It is unadvisable, as the windup is longer and you do not have hyperarmor compared to a heavy weapon's critical. My general suggestion is, if you fight an NPC, lets say a bandit or mudskipper, take the first strike and continue with your m1. If they block it, it's advisable to continue attacking until they parry. If they parry your first hit, simply parry back their attack, and either counterattack using a mantra, another m1 or your critical. Don't fear of getting ganged up by NPCs as there is an anti teaming script, making it so that only one engages you at a time, although for mudskippers its a bit different. EDIT EXTRA: There is also Feinting, indicated by the (x) icon under the Armor bar. There are 3 things you can feint. - M1 Feint - Roll Cancel - Mantra Feint I'll be only going over M1 Feint and Roll Canceling as Mantra Feinting is a rather advanced technic. Feinting an m1 is a common tactic, well not so common anymore after revisions within the game itself, but it is still good against npcs. If you feint an NPC, you either force them to block a hit or dodge. You can feint your M! by right clicking during the M1 animation, so long as it hasn't crossed the strike threshold (the moment your swing registers as a full swing) Roll Canceling is basically cutting your roll in half, making it so that you do not move much whilst dodging and are good for instantly dodging certain things. If you press Q and then Right click, it is a roll cancel. If you do it sucessfully, you can see that your dodge CD restores quickly. ( Note, only the M1 and Mantra Feint go on a Feint Cooldown.) In reguards of learning about monsters, I suggest going to Minitrysa, into Outpost Atunumbia and going into the Trial of One. Should keep at it until you beat the trial, and will fast track your character by 5-7 levels at most. Playing this game with friends or comrades is also advisable, as the more the merier. Hope this helps! - idk, Syn924
I believe you did pretty damn good for a new player, I don't blame you for feeling stuck. One decent way to practice pvp is chime of conflict, which is like a matchmaking pvp arena. Its difficult to explain how to get it since the location is very specific and completely unknown to newer players. There are guides on how to find it on youtube, as well as guides for just about anything in Deepwoken. If you do decide to try chime of conflict, I would recommend getting to at least level 15, as well as getting decent gear. (not the starter weapon and weak equipment from erisia) Although chime of conflict is decent for practicing, my one big gripe with it is that you get 3 lives each day, so whenever you lose a match you lose a life, but whenever you win you gain a life back, and if you lose all 3 lives you go to the depths and will have to escape. I would also recommend learning how to escape the depths, as it actually is a decent way to get used to pve due to the hostile environment and the constant life or death situation. Good luck
Its nice to see a new person playing the game, as you already know the new player experience is just.. terrible. However when you explore way more into the game and get friends to play with you will enjoy it way more.
I have been looking for games to play and deepwoken is one of those games where it introduced me to this type of game format and your channel is literally what I needed, the only reason I got deepwoken was because it was 50% off 😭
I really hope you make new videos on this game, please dont give up on it. Its really fun when you learn how to play. What helped me learn when i first started was watching youtubers progress like Valekis and zuukle once you learn the basics i would make his beginner pve build which is very simple.
Would love to make you learn the game, seeing you be afraid of any players makes me think of myself back then, well i'm still like that but less terrified of players. The tutorial was updated some time ago but had never introduced the effects of tempo which is "somewhat" normal as tempo is only used with players and bosses. It's normal to be confused about the whole "what's going on here", all you can feel is "everything wants me dead" which is completely true, a lot of what you want to do with your character determines how you will be able to fight and brings a lot to the game, after all of this time i've been "somewhat" carried but honestly getting the fighting mechanics and being good against others feels good as you can finally stop fear of losing all of your progress or protect the persons you hold dear. Deepwoken is a really big game, it's updated every week, and there's even more to come, I hope you'll do more videos about Deepwoken, it feels refreshing and nostalgic to see someone new to it, if you ever find the courage to explore the game, it is truly a beautiful game, not even to mention the music, the composer Naktigonis (which is the one person behind all of those musics in Deepwoken) has so much talent and deserves much more attention to his music. If you ever read this and are wanting some help, like I said in the beginning, I'd love to participate, to be honest I wouldn't be able to help a lot if you would get jumped by other players. After all, don't feel forced to play the game, and like the description of Deepwoken says, Deepwoken is a difficult game with permanent character loss, losing characters is a part of the game that should be expected.
for like a year or longer the description of deepwoken had 'this game is extremely difficult with little to no handholding enter at your own risk' seeing your experience now shows how much handholding theyve added with tutorials
The new player strategy is to learn Trial of One at the Ministry base, since it basically acts as a better tutorial lower erisia has bandits that 4 tap you while learning the game, not exactly fun
The things i always recommend for beginners is to learn trail of one, basically mob arena wich you can only enter as power 1, it really helps with parrying 50% of the mobs that you're gonna progress from. Another place is the Crypt of unbroken (humanoid NPCs) - really nice place to progress after finishing trail of one or you can try place called ''Starswept valley'' it's bit more difficult to get there for the first time but as mentioned you can prog out of mobs that were in trail of one. And ofc wiki is VERY helpful.
The games combat mechanics are very trade based. When you parry, you can attack after the parry at least once without the threat of getting hit. This also means parry trading is very common.
I recommend going an oath called “silentheart” since you’re a beginner, it just really helps you to learn how to parry because it’s really your only option
Hello, 2 days later but I decided to comment on the sliver of a chance you'll see this. First of all, don't get discouraged! This game is really fun once you get the hang of leveling and it has an amazing atmosphere. Second, learning to parry and dodge is the key to PVE, you can kill any mob just by learning to do that, so I suggest taking small steps and learning how to deal with humanoid npcs and megalodaunts first. Finally, get some friends. Eventually, you'll run into players who progress solely through killing other players. Yes, it is as bad as it sounds. Hopefully, you do stream at some point, I'd love to tune in and watch a newbie play again. It reminds me of me and my friends' shenanigans when we first started. Anyways, keep it up and make sure you have fun!
Also suggest you use shiftlock, also if your lit on fire you can roll to put it out You can dodge for i frames, you cna also dodge cancel to attack ealrier cause unlike parry you dont get "priority" after a full dodge so roll cancel is useful for that to roll cancel just right click mid dodge, you can qlso feint mid swing using right click The boat doesn't work like a car turning it will make your boat Constantly go in that direction, you can tell by the flags/flag on the boat where its turning I would say look at a beginners guide but hat could ruin the experience The main point you go to lower erisa at the start is to gian levels and loot there is of course some end game stuff there like blindseer but you dont need to worry about that for now Buy training tools like, vest weights etc to traincertain stats these stats do have passives Agility- you can climb walls better Fortitude-hp Strength- 1% armor penetration per 10 points Willpower - sanity and max tempo Charisma-1.5 ether per point Intelligence -2 ether per point Thats not the impostant part about stats though and what's important is that they unlock certain talents you can get when you level up examples would be 40 strength lets you obtian a talent called "showstopper" About the tutorial, even if it fully fleshed out the combat trust me you would still need a lot of hands on experience your going to die A LOT while learning And you were curious about our first experience so for me i played in releae with friends, though the game wasn't any easier cause of how different the systems were back then but going around with my friends and discovering things was really fun one time me and one of my friends were trying to go to upper for the first time and we met a deep owl i died in a acid pool and my friend died to the owl Just so you know if you run into a owl dont turn your back to it or it it'll attack you Now- i dont play the game much but if i hop on and start over a character or something i have a very easy time progressing it due to how much knowledge i have on it now The game is VERY rewarding to those who continue to learn, if i had to give youa. Estimate in how much easier the game gets once you learn id say its about 15 tiems easier If you do play again I wish you luck but do remember to just have fun try not to get frustrated and instead focus on seeing what the game has to offer And one last tip that has stuck to this day is - just stay calm even if you're basically one hit the moment you panic or get angry your performance in the combat this game offers's is going to plummet
as someone who started deepwoken a few months ago thanks to my friend, who thaught me the game, seeing you struggle made me remember those times. if you play the game it would be best if you have someone with you to teach you the game. have fun, the deep is calling :)
awesome video, I love seeing people play deepwoken for their first time its always funny/nostalgic. Definitely eye opening to the new player experience and the mind of how someone playing it for the first time would think/go about the game. Its definitely a game that doesnt give much direction or help to new players at all. Its hard to figure out anything without it being learned from either the internet or another player telling you. I'd advise to play with people who know the game and can help you learn it. Me and my guild are always helping people new to the game because the game is very hidden and the new tutorial can also feel misleading with how simple everything seems. Would love to help you out in any way if possible. I'd love to see you continue your journey in deep, id just recommend doing some research if you play alone.
Btw! If you play again, rolling, (Q) takes fire damage off of you, and pressing (G) when your blue tempo bar is full creates a small power blast around your body to shoot enemy’s off of you.
A tip is to start at heavy weapon as it has high posture dmg and also learn to atk right after partying, from my experience hvy is the best weapon to learn with and is the best for PvE which you should be focusing on, anyways I enjoyed the video and gl playing if you try playing again!
the bandits in the brown clothing are probably the easiest mob besides mudskippers for beginners. The bandits in white clothing can actually parry, so for a beginner its a lot harder. I recommend getting someone to help guide you through the game as playing solo can make the game more difficult. Good luck :)
these are the main things u need to know, when you parry a group of mods and they attack at the same time you know you, theres a auto parry second where all other moves inflicted within that set time get automatically parried to make the game a little more fair, also the biggest boost you get is doing the trial of one. Trial of one is a gauntlet which makes u fight the main mobs of the game, u can repeat it everytime forever but only once per life, it also gives you alot of points to put in your attributes every 15 attribute points you get you level. back to the trial of one, every mob there has its own attack patterns which are easy to understand. also dashing is a very important part in combat it provides I-frames and u can dodge almost all attacks in the game only a few where u cant. the main part of making your own build is talents, every level u gain a hand which is randomized based on your attribute points, if you have 25 strength you get bulldozer etc. everything under 25 is also something u can get its like a tree that unlocks. every level u get 2-3 talent hands, and if u get 2 that means ur third one is a whisper hand ( a mantra like in the toturial) mantras are based off your attunements and lets say you hit 20 flamecharm then you are able to get 1 star mantras then 30 then 50. also attunements have talents to enchance itself. the hard part of deepwoken is not the combat nor the mobs its being able to not give up and try again everytime u wipe ( permanently die) so ill say give it a chance because its a very fun game👍 ( also when ur tempo bar is blue you can vent which is just an evasive, and hits slow you a little so when you are running try to parry and run)
ether is just mana like in league and tempo is gained by getting hit or hitting others, the more u have the more u restore ether or u can sacrifice a little bit of tempo to use as an evasive, it is hard to explain how to escape the depths, i recommend looking up a guide on youtube, you have to get inside the walls and go in the middle which u can do by climbing on the walls walking to the middle and dropping down there lies a trial which u must do that gets harder each 5 lvls( its still easy ash ) also most foods u find in the wild is NOT edible besides calabash and anything that looks like an orange or a mango
my recommendation to progress is, ask one of ur friends to make u a build and follow it step by step after u master the trial of one, the more u do it the more things that happen which grant experience, i am a solo player and i went in blind i spend a abnormal amount of time going to lower erisia and just progressing there and i slowly started to get better i met people who helped me understand simple stuff and people who warent so nice also your biggest opponents are voidwalkers, they are bounty hunters which kill you for xp they have a red outfit which is very noticable with black too and they have tentacles around them everytime they have a bounty on you LOG IMMEDIATLY
*so some things the tutorial simply doesn't tell -you can feint sword swings by right clicking right after initiating a swing after which feinting goes on a cooldown indicated by a circle with an x between your armor and ether bars -you can feint mantra attacks by left and right clicking simultaneously right after using a mantra -you can roll cancel if you right click during a roll (you already did this during the video so i assume you figured it out already) -you can ragdoll cancel if you press right click while being ragdolled (not when being knocked due to reaching 0 hp, and some moves/abilties are unragdoll cancellable) -you can switch you stance by pressing Y (light weapons only have one stance, medium weapons have 1 handed and 2 handed stances right from the get go, heavy weapons can only use two handed but one handed heavy weapon stance can be unlocked via progression) one hand stance will make you deal more posture damage on successful parries and regen more posture on successful parries as well as the ability to use a secondary weapon/shield two handed stance will increase posture dmg on hits *these may or may not be in the tutorial since tutorial was created before these were added/replaced/changed -if you press ctrl + right click you will do an uppercut -tempo is the rate at which you can regen ether and whether or not you can vent you regen tempo by hitting and getting hit you gain an intial tempo surge upon triggering combat (tempo is a stat that can be increased i think base its either 100 or 120) -pressing G will do a vent this will get enemies off you (it costs around 40 tempo) *stuff that you might want to know and probably would've figured it anyways -you have 3 lives in deepwoken upon dying once you health bar becomes stained but other than that you are no different than before, if you die while your health bar is stained you get sent to the depths , while in the depths you can escape and go back to 3 lives but if you die in the depths its game over - there is a massive gate on the map that will send you to the eastern luminant ( a different set of islands) *these are stuff that you might find as spoilers but realistically you wouldn't find out without somebody telling you or looking through the wiki so don't read it if you don't want to -there are things called oaths they may or may not have stat requirements they give you extra non elemental abilties that can range from moving faster to illusion magic -murmur they are one extra ability that can be obtained through bosses/quests -resonances/bells are one extra ability that can be received by slaying bosses/players/strong monsters -the depths has 2 layers as of right now, scyphozia the place where you went and the eternal gale an optional dungeon accessed by either going to an npc to send you there safely or jumping into the void in the first layer at lvl 3+ or above, you used to be able to get sent straight to layer 2 upon death if you were sent to the depths more than 15 times but people complained that it was tedious to escape from layer 2 to 1 to the surface

Ill explain everything
Posture : when your posture builds up you will get stunned when you get by an attack while its full, a way to lower posture is to just let it regenerate naturally, parrying, and hitting other's block or posture break them.
If you hold down the f button after failing a parry you will go into a blocking mode, you will not get damaged in this state (if the attack doesn't do alot of posture damage) but this state boost posture gain all the way to the max so unblock when you can and when your posture gets too high you can dogde away
Right mouse click (feint)
Yes you can feint your attacks and even feint your dogde. You can feint your m1 by clicking right click while in the animation. This is usually more useful on players and not npcs.
Dogding (q)
Gives you s and moves you around a little. And if you feint the dogde by clicking right click during it, I THINK it gives more s and doesnt move you around as much, Imo dogde feint is better than regular dogde
Ether
Basically mana.
Attunements
There is currently 6 attunements, but you only saw 4 on character selection. But why? Because the other two attunements are locked by a quest (ironsing and shadowcast) but for new players, flame is the best.
Leveling up, talents, traits, mantras
You can level up by putting in 15 attributes and two criteria must be met, amount of exp and investment exp. But you need exp to actually put a point into a attribute using investment exp
When you do level up you will get an orb on top of your screen like in the tutorial, it gives talents which is buffs, for example scardey cat talent gives you temporary slight speed boost when getting engaged in a fight, blood iron spirit which regains some armor durability when you grip someone and also gives 5 hp. fishman lets you grip people underwater and also lose less thrist and hunger when swimming (gripping is an act of executing an knocked out opponent) and ect. Some talents has requirements, for example : bulldozer (25 strength) if you flourish someone (flourish is the kick at the end of an m1 combo) to a wall he will get posture broken. Lose your mind (needs willpower but idk how much) gives a damage buff the more insane you are and more.
Mantras
Basically magic
When you put in 20-30-50 stats to your attunement it will allow you to get higher tier mantras, 1 star mantras at 20 and 2 star at 30 and 3 star at 50.
You will also start to get talents related to your attunement when you raise your attributes more and some talents are specifically made for 1 singular mantra for example
Mantra : grand javelin (a two star mantra)(thundercall)
You throw an javelin basically
And the talent (grand skewer)
Makes your grand javelin drag someone it hits instead of just knocking them over
Traits : you might get them at a level up but they just increase some stats (vitality gives you 10 hp each, erudition increases ether regen and amount, songchant increase your mantra damage and size???, proficiency boosts the damage that you get when you upgrade your weapon's attribute)
With talents, mantras, and traits
There is builds
Where the stats are specifically put in to get the talents and mantras you want that is fits the build you want
Pve build
As high damaging to monsters possible with talents such as giantslayer (deal 10% more to big foes) lose your mind (you can get an item that can actually make you insane in order to get the damage boost) and more
This build is made specifically for killing monsters and pve
There is are track stars
Usually gale, but sometimes paired with thunder or flame or all three to be as fast as possible
100 agility and mobility mantras aswell as mobility talents like gale leap (if you jump off a legde while sliding, aka pressing jump while sliding near the egde of a tall legde you will be launched foward and it also get combined with wind step talent in the previous update which is just a double jump), kickoff (climb slightly higher) and more
This build usually has the jetstriker oath (we will get to oaths later) and is made to yank an knocked out opponent out of someone before they grip them in order to save them or steal the dead person's loot 😈
There is always a room to experiment with builds and you can even replicate anime characters in deepwoken
Oaths
Its better if you search the wiki for the quests but its basically a...
Lives
If you get killed once you will be put on second life, your hp bar will look rusted and more orange, you can get your first life back by leveling up, if you die on your second life tho you will be sent to the depths.
Basics:
Tempo is a bar where you regenerate your ether (stamina basically), if you are in a sticky situation and want to escape while pressured, Pressing G will sacrifice some of the tempo in order to push away the enemy, the tempo will fill up once you're attacked by an NPC or a player, if the tempo has a gray tint, the "venting" system is disabled until you engage in combat, venting stands for pressing G to push away the enemy.
Ether:
Ether is a stamina bar, mantras are magic spells, attunement is the magic you are using, there are multiple attunements, ranging from basic magic like fire, wind, ice and thunder, to much harder magic to obtain, such as shadow and iron magic, using these magic spells will cost ether.
Basic combat includes:
M1 (Basic attack)
R (Critical Attack)
M2 (Feint/Cancel an attack or dodge during the attack/dodging animation) [Cancelling an attack is to mess up the opponent's parrying time]
F (Parrying or blocking if held, if there was no attack to parry, parrying is disabled for 1.5 seconds and you're forced to block and take posture damage)
Y (Stance change, using the weapon with one hand or using the weapon with two hands)
Q (dash out and dodge attack, can be used to put out fire) [Dodging can be canelled early with M2, so you can end the dash early and attack faster, however the dodge frames are shorter if you cancel the dodge sooner]
V (carry a knocked person)
B (execute the knocked person)
Life system:
On the surface, you have 2 lives, Dying twice in a row sends you to depths, The depths is considered to be hell, Upon escaping by navigating to the cathedral, you will be granted the 2 lives back, but there is a cost for every time you are sent to the depths, more times you are sent, more dangerous the trial will be for escaping, dying IN the depths will eliminate all your progress.
Trial of the Depths:
The trial will be stronger however much power level you are aswell as how many times you have been sent to depths, you can check power level by pressing tab and looking to your stats, the drowns (aka how many times youve been sent to depths) can be checked at campfire on summary tab.
Leveling up:
Increase power by investing into points, the training gears can be bought at antiquarian to level up, you'll be dealt a talent card to learn new talents.
Hope this helps.
THESE ARE THE BASICS????? HELL NAW IM PLAYING ARCANE
@@Onion1976to be fair that can be simplified a lot
As you take or deal damage, your tempo bar will fill.
The method for gaining specific xp varies depending on stat (fortitude needs taking damage, agility is from running and climbing, etc)
He did leave out a couple things that are easy to explain.
Cause I ended up describing everything instead of basics, but I simplified everything the original comment said
I mean it’s not that simple when the description of tempo is 9 and a half lines

some tips is that you dont just have to parry, you can also dodge.

@@AlphaWhoothat's unfortunate, I'm sure plenty of people from the comment section or if you just ask any person in game in willing to teach you. also about the trainer, it is possible to win over him if u bring his hp to 0, then it will be your win and u gain exp, to level up u have to use training items
prayer beads = willpower
dumbbell = strength
ankle weights = agility (note agility does not actually make u run faster, but has a bunch of abilities related to when you dodge or parry you gain a speed boost, which ups your dmg)
Math textbook or encyclopedia = intelligence
weapon manual = weapon mastery (more m1 and m2 dmg)
Boulder or training vest = Fortitude
How to Make Friends = Charisma
also a thing that might be good to know is that when you down an enemy you gain health back, so your not at a disadvantage when you fight a few low tier mobs, but if its big monsters then it dont really help since human type enemies usually fight you 1 on 1 but monsters dont care

The way to notice voidwalkers is whenever they are in hunt mode they will have black tentacles like particles and if u see this dont use roblox leave button use deepwoken leave icon and if you get combat tagged by them you just gotta hope and pray they are not that good and their build is fightable.

deepwoken is a hard game solo, was solo for a while till i started my own guild and helped people who were new like me, when you learn how to play and the areas to go to, etc, the first few levels become really easy, then you just practice late game enemies and fight bosses. the easiest way to learn deepwoken is by playing with others, especially if that person has more experience they tend to explain things better than tutorials, plus alot of mechanics are just left for you to discover on your own/through the wiki or other people.
What i usually do as kind of a levelling guide is
-Mudskippers till power 2 (so i can get a mantra, try aim for one that blockbreaks, as you get better replace mudskippers with bandits but i lag alot sometimes so mudskippers are generally a safer option)
-Bandits in erisia (Typically the camp of bandit leaders, till power 2-8)
-Golems (a little further in erisia, till power 8-10/11)
Then i sail to the other luminant (new map, new islands basically)
i go to a place called songseeker isle (basically regular enemies that fight using weapons and attunement)
-songseekers (till power 11-13)
Then i go to another place called starswept valley (most people call it hive)
it contains enemies that are found in the depths so fighting here is a great way to practice those depths enemies so if you die and go down there, youll have a much easier time trying to escape instead of running around scared of everything.
Enemies in songseeker (till power13-16)
then i fight a miniboss called deep widow in songseeker (till power 16-20) (this is if im solo since i kind of suck, and again my wifis really bad haha)
If im playing with a freind, we fight a boss called duke of erisia (till power 16-20)
Duke is kinda essential for unlocking your resonance (bell), basically an ability that you press c to use, but worry about that after you get your first max level character (level 20)
the game is frustrating to learn but if you put in the time its very fun, try not to give up too early as you die alot in the beginning
ALSO one tip to help wih combat is when you get hit, your tempo bar will go up (that short blue bar at the bottom of your screen) when you have enough tempo you can press G to 'vent', causing a blue burst and pushing away all enemies (unless they parry the vent, but its kinda hard to do)
that tip should help the most tbh, the levelling guide is what everyone will kinda tell a beginner (places will be the same but level (power) may vary )
Good luck playing, i hope this helped

I completely agree that the tutorial is awful. It was actually added after the game released,a nd the game was never meant to have one in the first place. moreso, it was added BEFORE a major content update that changed a lot of systems (such as adding tempo)
I would reccomend just watching a few "beginners guide" videos on the game, which is unfortuantely the only real way to learn besides just playing and getting frustrated. it really is a fun game once you get over the first bump, but it's very hard to do that.
another thing that might help is letting you know that parrying is different from sekiro in the sense that you essentially need to parry AS the weapon is swining, not as it hits you. it needs to be this way in order to accomodate for the input delay that roblox inevitably produces in multiplayer games
I love newbies playin deepwoken, deserved a sub
Thanks for watching!
I wish they would have made an emphasis of self-discovery because it felt like this was the definitive path to take as a beginner.
lol its funny when you realize they want you to learn yourelf that its a self learning game too@@AlphaWhoo

@@Planteron1 I think its pretty intuitive I got the game when it first came out with no tutorial and no youtube videos. All i did was get a guide to lower erisia then it was easy to go from there. Parrying I feel is also very easy to learn and you just have to stop running away like this guy.
@@Planteron1I got spawn killed by high level players in EVERY single sever i joined
Wow nice video! Though this really shows how the updates are not in mind of new players ;/
Avoid the black and orange, got it. Thanks for the encouragement!
@@SingumCoolair2312 …Oh dear.
@@AlphaWhoo til this day, i just don't know why voidwalkers exist. the only thing they do is progressing by breaking into other's progression.

I play deepwoken a lot, so seeing someone new, like you is great. I also have a guild I like to train people in, if you want to join it, its free to anyone
the most useful tip that i can give to a new player, that the tutorial doesn't teach is VENTING
press G when your tempo bar is glowing blue to do a hyperarmor combobreak which pushes all humanoid enemies away from you
yk actually one of the better youtuber reactions to a first playthrough of deepwoken
Oh thank you!
the only thing I can say, man deepwoken is a very good game but yes it's really difficult to understand, I hope you like the game and make more videos and maybe make a deepwoken video a month? The game becomes much better than it already is once you learn the system
The deep is calling you
I know I’ll make a second video for sure, I’m not entirely confident whether I would make any more additional videos after that. I’ll keep playing Deepwoken though!
i love seeing new players play, i cant wait to see you in chime one day
Tempo is a burst bar you get while in combat to push enemies off you by pressing G, it is a blue bar under your health that only fills in combat.
Thanks for watching!
I saw a list of basics, but ended up writing a list of all the systems in the game, so I figured I’d leave it here:
As you take or deal damage, your tempo bar will fill.
The method for gaining specific xp varies depending on stat (fortitude needs taking damage, agility is from running and climbing, etc)
Controls can be viewed at any time in-game.
That's pretty much everything tbh, only thing that separates a seasoned player and a freshie is game knowledge and combat knowledge
Tips: When caught on fire, click Q to roll it off
People with black swirling circles around them is there to kill you
Spawning at vigils would be a good choice because of the instructor that doesnt kill, but instead he trains you
There is also 2 bandits at a bridge at vigil to practice fighting
This video was very enjoying to see it, I hope you does come back to deepwoken, thank you.
While it seemed like I was a bit overwhelmed, I did enjoy my two first hours of this game
Nah, I'd win.
nah, im five bars.
Okay so kind of late but, this game doesn't have a good tutorial and start , lots of things are hidden probably for lore and ambience of the unknown but it's to a deficit and playing without guidance is really hard , but once you know the flow of the game , it's a much much better experience , one of the best at least to me , the music and details are great , it's just super sad the entry is gate kept
Thank you for trying the gale out i hope you get the will to play some more but anyways , have a nice day
Bro like for real make some more content on this this game its so much more than it is from the start just keep going. like for real this video was entertaining.
I know I be sounding like an NPC out here LOL
Tips for u , dont just pary to passively. After u parry then m1 as fast as possible to fight back, thats how the game works. U should also think about the aerial attack wich is jump + m1 or run m1 (i hope u will do that next vids)
Thanks for letting me know, gotta play aggressively next time
I’m pretty sure Aerial attacks are a quest talent. You probably forgot because you did the quest like ages ago.
@@lolfoxmaster4870 it is not, jump and m1 will make you slightly dash forwards and stab, the aerial dash movement type is gotten through a quest
Ah cool tip!
@@AlphaWhoo but if u didnt push anyone back u will get stunned aka punished that push can also be blocked/parried and there is a talent that if a person block breaks someone they cant use tempto to escape
@@AlphaWhoo This mechanics is mostly viable to cancel combo's, so you can choose to eat dmg or exchange the price of your ether regen
Hesitation is defeat…
Oh other news, I beat Sekiro not long after uploading this video!
BOOOOOSTEEEEDDD
Should I commit stuff like that as of rn it is better to have 1 or 2 friends or players who knows the ins and outs of the game to teach you the mechanics but it's truly mesmerizing when you discover them yourself, back then megaladuant/sharko is the most feard being now in the current state of the game even a lvl 1 player can deal with it with enough skill this game doesn't really go easy on new players sometimes overwhelming them but back In release when players who waited for the game mindset was to learn and discover the overwhelming world of deepwoken and the feeling of lost and not doing things right was different back then where we we're in awe of discovering on edge on seeing new things new places new beings and the feeling of not doing things right feels like a grand discovery to be given such information as you might be the only one who attained it,as well right now deepwoken is not new player friendly playing the game blindly alone is frustrating but playing the game with friends blindly is outstandingly fun as you all brainstorm with your collective braincells and one goofy one who spreads brainrot among the guild, if you intend to showcase or review the game or just know the ins and outs the mechanics have a decent minded player teaching you the way thru showing what this mean and that how this work and why, those kinds of stuff, really love the content and love to see another new guy to play the game it reminds me of the good old times lol, if you're really invested in the game I would love to teach you a thing or two I find it pleasant teaching new players lol, I'll tell ya the most important thing a new players should know, the parrying has a panic state your first parry is open but if you miss a parry you enter a panic state which you parry is on cooldown this is implemented so you don't just spam the parry key if you parry in a panic state it won't work you can see your in a panic state when sweat flies out in your head a visual effect to know your in panic state and you scratch your head aswell as long you don't miss a parry you'll be alright but if you do miss you can roll cancel but more indept of that later as it's getting quite long a paragraph im writing, love the video man can't wait to see more 👍
Deepwoken is very infamous for its sweaty, hardcore, players not to mention its mechanics are extremely hard to learn at start but the more you play Deepwoken the more you learn *pro tip: go to a place called ministry and you want to climb up and go to a place where some shadow people and a castle-like building in the middle with when u enter it on the top-right of that place go down to a place called "trial of one" which gets u 6 free levels off spawn* and when u enter it at first u get it as a spawn point but u need to deal with some huge mobs and good luck the game is intresting and 100% one of the most if NOT the hardest game on roblox
edit: forgot to mention but when u go to erisia head to the left and into a cave people like to call "muddskipper cave" just wait for some zombie-like mobs that are called muddskippers spawn and kill them for a huge exp at start
It's not a skill issue. Deepwoken is just notoriously bad at being approachable to new players.

Your parry goes on cool down if you miss one
So you have to time it right
Stand proud you are strong
Playing Deepwoken for the first time in like what 2024 is crazyyy. It brings back so much memory, keep it up.
parry timings change if you just got hit, your character panics and parry timings become near impossible for a few hits, you need to get away from them to go back to normal this is for combos but its never explained
Dont run as much from enemies even when your outclassed, youll pretty much always get caught and take alot of damage. Your also not learning anything by running
Stay shift locked literally all the time
Good luck soldier
Tips: If you are gonna continue playing it which you should it is fun in my opinion very adventurous and challenging but you wanna keep playing it as you go on that is how I played it I played with 0 knowledge and I got better as I kept going I died multiple times but that is all on you if you wanna play it that way since it is the fun part of games to learn it as you play through it but my number one tip is avoid all players at all cost even if they seem nice and also I believe you can do it and become good at this game. Keep it up!
I REALLY hope that we get more Deepwoken from you.
also some tips for Deepwoken...
. slide-jumping gives a small speed boost
. you can escape the depths t hrough the big gate in the middle of the city, if the gate is not open someone (or yourself) has to ring the bells around the city, the bells make a small ringing sound so you can find the
. there are other attunements (spell types) you can't unlock at the start of the game and they are :shadow, and metal. you also can unlock the mantras you have not picked at the start
. when you wipe your character you get points called echoes which can be used to get permanent upgrades like starting with new weapons or the ability to pass down more items after you wipe
. when your tempo increases enough you can press G to push away enemies
. you can press right click mid roll, light attack, and mantra to cancel it
. if you see someone with black particles around them they are called a Voidwalker they are players who seek to hunt KILL you so watch out
. you run and attack then you can you a running attack.
. if you slide and use the right click you can you an uppercut, which throws you and your opponent into the air (you can uppercut anytime in the slide)
. Lower Erisa is in fact the starting area
. last but not least, the area in Lower Erisa you went first is not the best way to enter, there is a main entrance you can use, BUT!, you can talk to an NPC that is close to where the got the glider recipe which sends you on a "pretty easy" quest which permanently unlocks an AIR DASH, this is VERY IMPORTANT for you in the game
that's all, good luck.
True struggles I can relate to. I made it farther though sad...
i wont lie i was in the same predicament as you when i first started, i was lost and i didnt understand the game at all and this was a a time of the game where it was completely different to what it is now. so as a player of same experience as you i feel your pain but what really helped me get to learn the game and enjoy it was first of all playing it and second it was having friends to play it with to help me if i ever had questions on the spot so i think it would be a great idea to play along with a friend ask them to teach you, play with and maybe even progress with you to take of the burden of playing the game alone as a new player.
otherwise good luck to your deepwoken journey :D
Advice doesn’t apply anymore. Way more OP toxic players that kill for no personal gain than when you first started. Being a new player rn makes you nearly completely softlocked to progressing, let alone being able to practice and get better at the game. You can’t get better when you’re dying so often and then running 10 minutes back to practice on that same enemy type. For example Trial of One takes too long to restart and try again, so the time it takes to master fighting sharkos can be months of playing.
And sharko is only the 2nd trial
i played deepwoken once and i had the same experience. Everything was confusing and scary and i could either not progress or die trying to. I left the game for like a few months but then verse 2 dropped adding a ton of stuff so i came back. This second time i was determined to get better. I learned how you're supposed to level up and tried to get the highest level i could every life almost like a high score. I would end up basically just fighting the easiest enemies, sneaking around and avoiding actual players. This of course is quite a boring playstyle so with time i got more and more adventurous, setting goals for myself to prove that i am infact improving. After i learned how to defeat the bandits in the bandit camp in 1v1s my goal was to kill a megalodaunt. The megalodaunt you spotted here 21:00 is a static spawn, it will always spawn there, so my goal now was to learn it's moveset and kill it. Now for my biggest goal, I consider this to be a milestone which will instantly break the begginer barrier if you manage to overcome it. Trial of one. I've heard of this trial that can instantly get you to around level 7 if you can beat it. Seeing as that took me a long ass time, this 20 minute trial seems quite interesting. If you can complete the Trial at least half way, past the crocodile-like enemy, you will unlock it AS A SPAWN LOCATION. I was determined to unlock it because it would allow me to try my hand at fighting the most important enemies in the game, plus it would allow me to speed up my progression. Trial of one is located in the basement of a little castle looking structre over at the island "Minityrsa". It is protected by the Ministry so you'll have to be quick and dodge them all to sneak into the trial. You have to be level one to access it though. TLDR;
I recommend you look up "how to get to trial of one" and learn how to at least beat it half way since that will allow you to unlock it as a spawn location letting you learn the patterns of the most common monster enemies in the game and learn the basic most important parts of this game's combat.
Unlock the "Lone warriow" origin (trial of one spawn location) and you will become way better at the game while also feeling like you can manage on your own in this harsh world.
If you can do that then a long term goal i recommend is unlocking every other attunement. It's pretty simple to do, just look it up. You should definitely watch video tutorials on this game or have the wiki open (i recommend doing both)
Expect to die and lose your character often. That's part of the experience. You learn and unlock new things as you live your many lives so don't be afraid of trying again.
I will subscribe to you in hopes that i can one day watch you beat Trial of one (or at least beat it halfway)
I hope you'll do it. I believe in you.
it's really interesting seeing new people try out deepwoken, also that all of them have the same exact complaint, the new player experience
i remember i struggled myself when i first got back to the game, i had no idea how to do almost anything, i understood the combat and training but i had no clue about talents, mantras or oaths
if i'm being honest, as a new player by yourself you can't really get that far, you need to see youtube videos and spend some time on the wiki but if you have the motivation to learn more this game will suck you right in
as for my tip for you, once you're in the depths you have to look around and find your way to the city walls, there are two entrances, one flat and the other sloaped, if you find yourself near the sloaped one that's good! go forward and up to the gate, if it's closed you'll need to ring the 4 bells that are scattered around the city, otherwise there's another option which is climbing onto the city walls and going into the middle by dropping down, then you'll have to go onto the elevator, activate it and then wait for it to get to the top, there until power 6 you'll face no enemies and will be let out into the overworld again, if you find youself near the flat entrance do NOT go forward, less you want to fight the squibbo, most dangerous mob in the game, you'll have to go around the city until you reach the other side, then you repeat the steps already mentioned.
getting out of the depths is something i as a beginner struggled with the most and i found absolutely no guides on how to get out legitemetly so i hope this will help in the next approach
ps, after dying once your health bar gets tainted, dying with a tainted health bar will send you to the depths, it can be fixed by getting a level up or getting out of the depths
The reason the guards didn’t help you is because the black dudes with katana are the kings guardsmen
I was just admiring the view, they are rude >:(
As a long time deepwoken player I understand the frustration of starting and I want to give u some tips (I’m not claiming that I’m very good at the game just a long time player)
-Tempo is use to regenerate ether (aka your mana) and it can also be used to vent
-Venting is when u have enough tempo stored and then press g, it will knock the enemy away and give you a chance to run or turn the fight to a neutral stance and you continue the fight from there
-To power up (power is level btw) you will need training gears that u can buy at the shop in etris or at the dojo in vigils
-Once you have training gears you will need to kill npcs to get xp (just like any other game) and as you power up you get talents according what stats you have like a really good talent called “Exoskeleton” it’s requirements are 40 fortitude and “Condition Runner” you will heal while you run if under 75% health its requirements are 25 agility, 25 fortitude and all the “Alley cat” talents such as “Endurance Runner” and “Scaredy Cat”
-The fortune teller is called mystic, you can talk to mystic to choose what kind of talents you get as long as you have the required stats
-When buying weapons you can see the requirements are LHT = light, MED = medium, HVY = heavy
-After powering up you get talent hands and mantra hands (not every power give mantra hands) you can pick talents and mantras but as you train your attunement (magic/element) you can different stars of mantras 0-19 = 0 star, 20-29 = 1 star, 30-49 2 star, 50+ = 3 star (these are ur stats if u didn’t know)
But yea those are some tips that I think would help and I hope you can enjoy deepwoken a bit more
hi just wanted to explain some things
tempo increases when you hit opponents or get hit, if you press G while having high tempo you will "vent"
venting allows you to escape combos as it bypasses all forms of stun, unless your opponent has a specific perk which disables venting (collapsed lung)
the game is intended to be learned through experience, it is an intended flaw
the same thing applies to the new player experience, monad studios are especially notorious for giving you no guidance whatsoever and just throwing you into some of the hardest roblox games you'll ever play, rogue lineage being the prime example, as people often call deepwoken the "child friendly" version of rogue (rogue doesn't even have a tutorial in the first place)
you can parry depending on when the attack is about to hit you too, the tutorial simply explains how the devs thought of parrying, which is not the most efficient way of doing it
if you have any other questions ill lyk
I like watching videos like these, it brings me back to my days as a beginner. I hope more videos like these come out!
Thanks for watching!
Important controls
F - Parry/block
Q - Dodge
Q + Right Click - Roll cancel (Your end-lag is heavily decreased but your dodge window is shortened.)
G - Venting - You explode yourself with energy pushing away anyone near you to a short distance. (need to have tempo in order to do this.)
Ctrl - crouch you can assassinate players and NPC’s (15% TRUE dmg to players) (Damage to NPC’s + Short knocked duration.)
T to spit (Landing a spit on a humanoid mob/player gives you 2% hp back)
M1 + M2 to feint.
Middle mouse button Or R for critical. (You get 1 hit of super armor with Heavy weapons.)
C - Bell. Hint: Kill a lot of corrupted mobs and do a lot of bosses. :)
Anyways if you need any help or anything else lemme know.
Thank you for watching the video, I appreciate it
I remember back when there wasn’t even a tutorial at the start u just got spawned in at etris or isle of vigils and the game was impossible to play blind
we got him to play deepwoken fellas. let us flee.
No, you come back here. You let me into this mess, I’m gonna drag y’all once more >:)
Honestly just another sign of how good and recognisable the music is
I'm glad you commented about the music. It's one of the best parts of Deepwoken
- M1 Feint
- Roll Cancel
- Mantra Feint
I'll be only going over M1 Feint and Roll Canceling as Mantra Feinting is a rather advanced technic.
Feinting an m1 is a common tactic, well not so common anymore after revisions within the game itself, but it is still good against npcs. If you feint an NPC, you either force them to block a hit or dodge. You can feint your M! by right clicking during the M1 animation, so long as it hasn't crossed the strike threshold (the moment your swing registers as a full swing)
Roll Canceling is basically cutting your roll in half, making it so that you do not move much whilst dodging and are good for instantly dodging certain things. If you press Q and then Right click, it is a roll cancel. If you do it sucessfully, you can see that your dodge CD restores quickly. ( Note, only the M1 and Mantra Feint go on a Feint Cooldown.)
In reguards of learning about monsters, I suggest going to Minitrysa, into Outpost Atunumbia and going into the Trial of One. Should keep at it until you beat the trial, and will fast track your character by 5-7 levels at most.
Playing this game with friends or comrades is also advisable, as the more the merier.
Hope this helps!

I have been looking for games to play and deepwoken is one of those games where it introduced me to this type of game format and your channel is literally what I needed, the only reason I got deepwoken was because it was 50% off 😭
Glad that you found Deepwoken!
The new player strategy is to learn Trial of One at the Ministry base, since it basically acts as a better tutorial
lower erisia has bandits that 4 tap you while learning the game, not exactly fun
the music in this game is actually so good
also you can turn off the ingame music in case you wanna play some music over it
Straight facts
The things i always recommend for beginners is to learn trail of one, basically mob arena wich you can only enter as power 1, it really helps with parrying 50% of the mobs that you're gonna progress from. Another place is the Crypt of unbroken (humanoid NPCs) - really nice place to progress after finishing trail of one or you can try place called ''Starswept valley'' it's bit more difficult to get there for the first time but as mentioned you can prog out of mobs that were in trail of one. And ofc wiki is VERY helpful.
bad way to learn the game, will take to long and will be frustrating. go vipers pit and learn sharko
@@CloverMZ 💀💀💀💀
The games combat mechanics are very trade based.
When you parry, you can attack after the parry at least once without the threat of getting hit. This also means parry trading is very common.
Ooh that actually sounds fun!
Tip: play like a canor and get friends, fighting together is always better than alone!
Thanks for commenting, looks like your sliver of chance has been seen haha. Thanks for your tips!
Also suggest you use shiftlock, also if your lit on fire you can roll to put it out
You can dodge for i frames, you cna also dodge cancel to attack ealrier cause unlike parry you dont get "priority" after a full dodge so roll cancel is useful for that to roll cancel just right click mid dodge, you can qlso feint mid swing using right click
The boat doesn't work like a car turning it will make your boat Constantly go in that direction, you can tell by the flags/flag on the boat where its turning
I would say look at a beginners guide but hat could ruin the experience
The main point you go to lower erisa at the start is to gian levels and loot there is of course some end game stuff there like blindseer but you dont need to worry about that for now
Buy training tools like, vest weights etc to traincertain stats these stats do have passives
Agility- you can climb walls better
Fortitude-hp
Strength- 1% armor penetration per 10 points
Willpower - sanity and max tempo
Charisma-1.5 ether per point
Intelligence -2 ether per point
Thats not the impostant part about stats though and what's important is that they unlock certain talents you can get when you level up examples would be
40 strength lets you obtian a talent called "showstopper"
About the tutorial, even if it fully fleshed out the combat trust me you would still need a lot of hands on experience your going to die A LOT while learning
And you were curious about our first experience so for me i played in releae with friends, though the game wasn't any easier cause of how different the systems were back then but going around with my friends and discovering things was really fun one time me and one of my friends were trying to go to upper for the first time and we met a deep owl i died in a acid pool and my friend died to the owl
Just so you know if you run into a owl dont turn your back to it or it it'll attack you
Now- i dont play the game much but if i hop on and start over a character or something i have a very easy time progressing it due to how much knowledge i have on it now
The game is VERY rewarding to those who continue to learn, if i had to give youa. Estimate in how much easier the game gets once you learn id say its about 15 tiems easier
If you do play again I wish you luck but do remember to just have fun try not to get frustrated and instead focus on seeing what the game has to offer
And one last tip that has stuck to this day is - just stay calm even if you're basically one hit the moment you panic or get angry your performance in the combat this game offers's is going to plummet
Thank you for the advice!
@@AlphaWhoo no problem
as someone who started deepwoken a few months ago thanks to my friend, who thaught me the game, seeing you struggle made me remember those times. if you play the game it would be best if you have someone with you to teach you the game. have fun, the deep is calling :)
awesome video, I love seeing people play deepwoken for their first time its always funny/nostalgic.
Trial of one is a gauntlet which makes u fight the main mobs of the game, u can repeat it everytime forever but only once per life, it also gives you alot of points to put in your attributes every 15 attribute points you get you level. back to the trial of one, every mob there has its own attack patterns which are easy to understand. also dashing is a very important part in combat it provides I-frames and u can dodge almost all attacks in the game only a few where u cant. the main part of making your own build is talents, every level u gain a hand which is randomized based on your attribute points, if you have 25 strength you get bulldozer etc. everything under 25 is also something u can get its like a tree that unlocks. every level u get 2-3 talent hands, and if u get 2 that means ur third one is a whisper hand ( a mantra like in the toturial) mantras are based off your attunements and lets say you hit 20 flamecharm then you are able to get 1 star mantras then 30 then 50. also attunements have talents to enchance itself. the hard part of deepwoken is not the combat nor the mobs its being able to not give up and try again everytime u wipe ( permanently die) so ill say give it a chance because its a very fun game👍 ( also when ur tempo bar is blue you can vent which is just an evasive, and hits slow you a little so when you are running try to parry and run)
ether is just mana like in league and tempo is gained by getting hit or hitting others, the more u have the more u restore ether or u can sacrifice a little bit of tempo to use as an evasive, it is hard to explain how to escape the depths, i recommend looking up a guide on youtube, you have to get inside the walls and go in the middle which u can do by climbing on the walls walking to the middle and dropping down there lies a trial which u must do that gets harder each 5 lvls( its still easy ash ) also most foods u find in the wild is NOT edible besides calabash and anything that looks like an orange or a mango
my recommendation to progress is, ask one of ur friends to make u a build and follow it step by step after u master the trial of one, the more u do it the more things that happen which grant experience, i am a solo player and i went in blind i spend a abnormal amount of time going to lower erisia and just progressing there and i slowly started to get better i met people who helped me understand simple stuff and people who warent so nice also your biggest opponents are voidwalkers, they are bounty hunters which kill you for xp they have a red outfit which is very noticable with black too and they have tentacles around them everytime they have a bounty on you LOG IMMEDIATLY
game wasnt even supposed to have a tutorial in the first place though, developers added a short one just so people know what the game is about
I'm waiting for part two c:
*so some things the tutorial simply doesn't tell
-you can feint sword swings by right clicking right after initiating a swing after which feinting goes on a cooldown indicated by a circle with an x between your armor and ether bars
-you can feint mantra attacks by left and right clicking simultaneously right after using a mantra
-you can roll cancel if you right click during a roll (you already did this during the video so i assume you figured it out already)
-you can ragdoll cancel if you press right click while being ragdolled (not when being knocked due to reaching 0 hp, and some moves/abilties are unragdoll cancellable)
-you can switch you stance by pressing Y (light weapons only have one stance, medium weapons have 1 handed and 2 handed stances right from the get go, heavy weapons can only use two handed but one handed heavy weapon stance can be unlocked via progression)
one hand stance will make you deal more posture damage on successful parries and regen more posture on successful parries as well as the ability to use a secondary weapon/shield
two handed stance will increase posture dmg on hits
*these may or may not be in the tutorial since tutorial was created before these were added/replaced/changed
-if you press ctrl + right click you will do an uppercut
-tempo is the rate at which you can regen ether and whether or not you can vent you regen tempo by hitting and getting hit you gain an intial tempo surge upon triggering combat (tempo is a stat that can be increased i think base its either 100 or 120)
-pressing G will do a vent this will get enemies off you (it costs around 40 tempo)
*stuff that you might want to know and probably would've figured it anyways
-you have 3 lives in deepwoken upon dying once you health bar becomes stained but other than that you are no different than before, if you die while your health bar is stained you get sent to the depths , while in the depths you can escape and go back to 3 lives but if you die in the depths its game over
- there is a massive gate on the map that will send you to the eastern luminant ( a different set of islands)
*these are stuff that you might find as spoilers but realistically you wouldn't find out without somebody telling you or looking through the wiki so don't read it if you don't want to
-there are things called oaths they may or may not have stat requirements they give you extra non elemental abilties that can range from moving faster to illusion magic
-murmur they are one extra ability that can be obtained through bosses/quests
-resonances/bells are one extra ability that can be received by slaying bosses/players/strong monsters
-the depths has 2 layers as of right now, scyphozia the place where you went and the eternal gale an optional dungeon accessed by either going to an npc to send you there safely or jumping into the void in the first layer at lvl 3+ or above, you used to be able to get sent straight to layer 2 upon death if you were sent to the depths more than 15 times but people complained that it was tedious to escape from layer 2 to 1 to the surface
