Giant Dragonite was clearly supposed to be Lugia.
    1. Singing is a big thing for it, which isn’t for Dragonite, but is for Lugia.
    2. Lives in the ocean, which Dragonite doesn’t, but Lugia does.
    3. The writing/voice acting doesn’t show any reference to it being a Dragonite, likely meaning this was all done before the animation.
My guess is they wanted to do this as a nod to Lugia, but lacked a final design, so they just did giant Dragonite.

that episode is actually based off of a story by Ray Bradbury called "the foghorn" about a giant underwater dinosaur gets attracted to a lighthouse because it's foghorn made a similar sound that it made. with in pokemon lore it doesn't make a lot of sense. but keep in mind this was one of the earliest episodes in the series. the lore wasn't strict back then, it was just a crazy tv show loosely based on a video game and they could do whatever they wanted. There was also an episode with an unexplained talking ghastly that had many supernatural powers that the pokemon isn't supposed to have. and that episode was made by the same writer as this one.

@@LeneAlexandraa yeah, I do. *a lot* of evidence. First of all, lugia wasn't created by game freak but rather by takeshi shudo, the head writer of the pokemon anime. He created it because gold and silver was still in development and they needed something for the second movie to center around. Eventually the writers decided to make their own pokemon for the movie which is how lugia was created. Remember, this episode came out in *1997,* which is *two* whole years before the second pokemon movie came out in japan. Not to mention how an episode of pokemon at the very least takes 6 months in advance to make before it airs because of the script, animation, voice acting, and much more. Anyhow game freak was impressed by lugia and decided to put him in the game. This is why in the space world demo for gold and silver lugia was *nowhere* to be seen, as it was never planned to be in the game to begin with. My sources for this information are takeshi shudo's blog posts which have been archived and translated by dr lava, but you can also watch "did you know gaming's" video talking about the creation of lugia

Perhaps they weren’t thinking of continuity. There a quite a few concepts that were left without an explanation. Ironically its ambiguous nature of not adding up, has made the episode so memorable. We should bring mutant Dragonite to galar just for fun

I wish dynamax was like this. Not forced, just natural. Could’ve been some sick boss fights in sw and sh. It’s nice we got dynamax but I wish it wasn’t forced by energy.

Why does that matter? Naturally giant Pokémon should be a thing in later games still but letting players grow Pokémon is cool.

hey I really enjoy your videos, but your outros are WAY too long. a full minute outro for a 6 minute video is just ridiculous. If you scale your videos up to 30 minutes, would you as a viewer stick around for 5 full minutes reminding you to subscribe? I don't think so, realistically the outros should be under 20 seconds, but your content before is super interesting
