I feel you on J. Thomas. He’s always hurt

I don’t see the CJ Carr hype as a narrative thing at all. What B&G writers were saying about CJ in the lead up to spring game came to bear. He was poised in the pocket, throws with a better velocity and tight spiral, and showed strong decision making skills ahead of what you’d expect from a freshman.

Agree. On top of having the physical traits and being able to make all the throws, the intangibles the kid has jump off the screen (IMO). Everything about the kids screams "gimme the ball and let me go make plays." A RARE thing for a kid that age. The confidence & the (kinda quiet) swagger feed in to the hype, and for now, I think rightly so. I hope - when he does get his chance - this staff lets him go out and get after it, as opposed to being afraid of making mistakes every time he takes a snap.

You learned all of that from the Spring game?

    • @IsaacMyers-xq4iv

@@mikegoolsby2731 not necessarily just the spring game. The three months of reporting on CJ Carr spoke to these traits. Which was encouraging, but I wasn’t buying it until I saw it. After watching the SG a few times I’m buying all of what I said above, of course with the caveat that this was a spring game, whichdoesn’t mean he could do all of this under the fire of live reps in a Fall game. My point only is his physical passing and mental traits looked strong and ahead of what I saw from the other two QBs.

@@mikegoolsby2731 but I’m also not saying Minchey or Angeli had bad performances, although their first halves gave me some pause. Both recovered and had good second halves. Comparing the three though, CJ’s throwing and pocket presence impressed me the most, at least as much as he could in a de facto scrimmage. Not saying he should be QB2 necessarily in spite of all that.

Singer and on3 have to stick to the narrative that Carr didn’t deserve to be ranked higher

Kenny is Solid I agree, but I can unabashedly say that CJ, as a true early enrollee freshman, he looked just as good. Maybe overall better. So, if time is of the essence, I say give the kid a red and then give him 3 years of the keys. That was as impressive a live scrimmage QB freshman job at 25+ snaps as any I may have seen. When you consider his split roll. When you consider the broken offensive line and the very good defensive units, he faced from both teams… impressive. Maybe the narrative is marked. How do you sleep with a tinfoil hat on? Asking for a friend.Haha
So, game on I’m with singer, this competition could get pretty interesting

Why are we so high on Collins? He was just another guy at Clemson, and he has a high drop percentage. 13 drops to 90 catches isn't very good.

You can't play somebody at QB that turns the ball over. Turnovers decide the games against top 20 teams. See the USC, Clemson and Louisville games last year.
