Do a lot of shoe brands sell soling sheets so you can buy them for repairs? Thank you for all you do!
It’s hard to find consumer retailers that sell them for a reasonable price but I found that southern leather sells a 18 by 36 sheet for 90 bucks which is a great price considering what others charge for the original Birkenstock material

While i appreciate the effort of reaparing i have my doubts that this will hold up. The cork used to repair is of really bad quality (at least for midsoles). The adhesive used to repair the cracks is not right either, the correct would have been flexible CA glue. (it is a special one, not any super glue).
I hope to be wrong and these shoes have a long life before them..
name of the adhesive used please.. or advice the best global suitable please..

Liebe Grüsse von einer ausgebildeten (Orthopädie-) Schuhmacherin EFZ aus der Deutschschweiz. Das ist ziemlich sicher kein Fachmann, jedoch geht es in den Videos ja auch nicht um Professionalität. Für mich jedenfalls gehören Videos dieser Art in die Kategorie "satisfying".
Meh... the end result looks amateurish. Wouldn't it have been easier and the about the same price to keep the upper and completely replace the suede topped cork footbed and outsole? Doesn't most cobblers keep Birkenstock footbeds and outsoles in stock since it's probably on of the easiest shoes to a complete footbed & outsole repair on? Also, great opportunity to swap the outsole for the more wear resistant Vibram Birkenstock outsole.
It takes a long time to break in a pair and they feel amazing after a couple years. People want to preserve that as long as possible. If you truly need a new footbed, just get a new pair. If you use cork seal twice a year, keep them dry, and don't run them down to the cork, the footbeds can last a long time. You can also clean your footbeds with a tablespoon of Tide, a tablespoon of vinegar in a 16oz water bottle (warm water) Shake it up and use a towel and that solution. Don't soak them. Put them under a fan to dry. Before you use the solution you can gently sand the footbeds and get the black oil/dirt off then they will almost look new. They will feel rough and hard for a couple weeks after the cleaning but will soften right back up. Hope this helps someone :)
